Dancing Cheek to Cheek... It's not what you think...

Friday, March 11, 2016

This afternoon I was sitting on a chair in the back section of the basement that we use for storage. I was searching through some plastic totes for the spring and Easter decorations I wanted to put out when the chair slid out from under me and down I went onto the floor. I wasn't hurt, although I might be stiff or sore in the morning. I sat there on cold linoleum wondering what to do because my ouchy knees won't let me put any weight on them in order to get up. I can't get up off the floor without help. It was late afternoon, and my husband wasn't due home for awhile. I started moving things out of the way and began scooting on my behind first to the left and then to the right, one butt cheek at a time slowly moving across the basement floor. We have a house phone in the basement so I scooted to it to call my husband at work asking him to come straight home since I was stuck on the floor! He said he would come ASAP. Rather than just sit there waiting I decided to keep scooting to the stairs to see if I could somehow manage to get up the steps. I spent the next 20 minutes dancing cheek to cheek until I finally got to the bottom step when I heard My DH come in the house to my rescue. With his help I was able to pull up three steps, one at a time, until I could stand without having to put weight on my kneecaps. Perhaps I should have titled this blog, "Help I've fallen, and I can't get up!" but somehow I like the title "Dancing Cheek to Cheek" much better! lol Now do I tell the kids about this little escapade in the basement? I don't really want one of those emergency buttons for Mother's Day this year!

I'm so glad this turned out well and that you're able to see the "cheek to cheek" humor in the situation!
