Stronger than before

I started weight-lifting in November 2015 because my thighs had gotten so weak I could not propel myself out of a chair.
I bought the New Rules of Lifting for women, printed the logs and off I started.
Or so I thought. The first exercise was to lift a barbell with no weights on it. I couldn't do it. The gym had smaller barbells that were only 20 pounds and that's where I had to start.
This book has 7 stages and I'm about to start stage 5. i can now deadlift 60 pounds, but real weightlifters are probably laughing about now. I am still a beginner, but I'm enjoying the process so much, I do not care if my progress is measured by 1 pound increments rather than by 10 pound increments.
I can now easily get out of a chair.
