Leaving the House of Harkonnen!

I have been keeping up with a blog by Kelly Coffey. Good stuff over there. Love the matter-of-factness. This morning, as part of a quiz, I had to write about "trigger foods", if you will. There is not one! Not for me. All my significant social gathering revolve around food - I come from a long line of amazing cooks and heavy drinkers. It can take months to plan a menu. Feeding people is penultimate love. So a particular food is not all of the picture, the sauce, the balance of salt, sweet, acid, savory, lite, creamy, hot cold - the crunch, the aroma, the presentation - the culture of food paired with alcohols: hops, grapes or distillates. Getting all of that onto a nutrition scale - there in lies my overall problem. Family and Friends time equals food.
Recently if food is a part of the equation - so is activity. If I want to go to the fabulous Venesualian Pop Up Eatery, I have to rent a public bike and ride as a part of the outing. If meeting the fam for brunch, a long walk must be on the menu too. Even at work we are taking breaks for stretch and strength videos. We challenge each other to 5 minutes of various exercise once or twice a day!
Getting healthier, living healthier, shaking off the Harkonnen blob lifestyle - and if you have read this far - it looks like that last plateau is behind me!! Today I will have to take old clothes to the good will and find a few transitional pieces - what a shame :)
