Hi Everybody!

I gained all my weight back that I lost due to being in the ICU. But thanks to the info that Diane and Carl keep sharing with me, and the discussions here, I am sure I can accomplish real weight loss. I am also realizing that I have had anorexia for a long time and now dealing with a lot of inappropriate eating. Maybe even a whole weird relationship to/with food and eating.

It's also very strange to now at this time in my life have to loose weight, and not not have to add drugs to increase my appetite.

On the positive side, I am making great strides in PT, I guess this is what Carl is talking about. I started really participating in Drum Fit, the instructor is a really neat lady into a lot of the alternative hearing techniques that we're into as well. Bottom line is Zumba and Drum Fit have been having a very positive effect on my energy and PT.

Yesterday the main euro-physical therapist on my case asked me a bunch of questions from a questionnaire asking my percentage of confidence while walking, under all kinds of different circumstances. Like walking up an incline ramp, and down a series of steps facing Front. These have been real fear spaces for me - up to this point.

Yesterday in PT after walking 160 feet, with the walking stick, I walked up an inline ramp about 40 feet and then down four steps facing front with minimal guidance! Well it blew everybody minds, maybe even my own! I did feel good!!!

emoticon on your accomplishments. I am so happy for you. I remember watching my DH learning to walk and i'll never forget the look of determination on his face and how hard he had to work.

Wow! You have really dug deep to get to the root of your fears. (I know, "dug", "root", not even intentional Mr. Gardener Extraordinaire) Having to relearn actions you once took for granted takes a lot of patience and perseverance. I KNOW you have lots of perseverance!! emoticon

Thank you for sharing the info about anorexia. I think most people believe that women or teenage girls are the only people to suffer an eating disorder, probably because women and girls are the usual subjects of articles, books and documentaries. Factoring in an eating disorder along with weight reduction makes the whole process of re-evaluating the relationship you have with food a more complex process. Congratulations on having the courage to admit it. Acceptance is a major forward step.

That is AWESOME news, Mark! I learned while in PT that getting out of your comfort zone is definitely a good thing! Face those fears, and you can do this! I'm super happy for you! Big hugs to you both!
