Fitbit Newbie: Worth the $?

Tuesday, July 05, 2016

The last few months I have been MIA, thanks to a move to California and also a short break to clear my mind from digital advancements. Sometimes being connected to the world 100% of the time can be a bit stressful and lead towards changing a persons' mind. Now that I have had this pause, I feel more capable to continue on with my weight loss and fitness challenge.

So on to the topic of the Fitbit. Yesterday DH decided to go out and purchase the Fitbit Blaze, it is supposed to work with an iPhone however ours is a bit old. We having been waiting for the 7 to come out however it may be another few months. That means the Fitbit must be used on the mac app, not a cell phone. Does anyone else use this method?

My question I guess since I can not use the cell phone app is, "is it worth it?" It does not seem as if the main website does much but track steps to turn into calories burnt and also one must input food for calories in. There is a sleep tracking function which I used last night since it's automatic but I wasn't that impressed with the tracking chart given, very simple and just a few lines to express moment that could be awake.

Am I missing something using only the website instead of the cell phone app? Trying to decide is I should just return it or not. I already have a Garmin GPS for running.

If you want it to work as a smart watch, then it needs to be connected to your cell phone. Otherwise it's just a really expensive FitBit. You must have a very old iPhone.
