Slipping Up

I had been doing well with normal eating but have dipped back into bingeing the past month or so. My life has taken a sad turn and I am looking to food for comfort and distraction. I was doing ok with the eating at first so I need to remember that bingeing makes things worse, not better. I have enough on my plate (ha ha) without adding bingeing to it.

    I've taken a leap back recently too. I think it's because I actually prefer the post-binge regret, shame and sense of failure to other difficult emotions. I'm used to the feelings binge eating brings me. Wheareas I can't cope with these new 'real world' feelings of loss, grief, sadness and pain. My brain must surely prefer the misery of too-tight clothes and a distressing number on the scale, above any other type of misery.

    You're a strong person, a real survivor. You'll get through this. I believe with all my heart that you will. Take care of your lovely self. I hope the sun will shine on you again soon.

    I binge too. I started out good today with my oatmeal, flax seed, PD, and blackberries which stays with me.We ate an early lunch of steak and french fries.Son came to lunch and brought popcorn which was probably twice what I needed to eat at one sitting. I ate the whole thing in probably 20 minutes. :9( I need to slow down and instead of taking fingers full,I could take one kernal at a time...For supper I had a bowl of the homemade Chinese Chop Suey. It probably is not too bad for me because the only seasoning Hubby used was a little molasses. It had loads of onions, celery and beans sprouts but there was ground pork and beef chunks. SOOO I decided to eat a helping of wax beans and..had a crab meat sandwich..(2 breads and lots of mayo) .. NOW I am eating 2 rice cakes with PD and jam... Probably this eating is not so bad, but I know that I could make it better by: slowing down and eating the popcorn one piece at a time, not eating the crabmeat sandwich with 2 slices of bread and mayo, and only eating one rice cake...I KNOW that I can make my binges better....

    I try to take one hour at a time. When I am tempted to eat I find something else to do,usually something I really enjoy that doesn't involve food. Music and reading are great distractions for me.
