Kitty Chronicles: Continuing Confessions of Queen Cat's Captive!

Saturday, February 25, 2017

First of all, on a very serious note, I thank everyone who has been kind enough to ask how Queenie is. In all sincerity, I appreciate your interest.
No, I haven't killed her.
No, I haven't sent her back outside to the elements.
She still opens and closes the cabinet door
She still sits on my chest when I'm trying to type
She still moons me, bites me and scratches the furniture, but....
I forgive her because she also still sleeps across my heart with her head tucked under my chin. emoticon
You may remember I promised myself back when the Queen first selected me as her slave that I would never buy her fancy feast cat food.

Well promises were made to be broken.

So I gave up my twice weekly convenience store coffee so I can provide the Queen with the best. She must have the kind with gravy. I like my gravy too so I understand her need.

Yes it is a few cents cheaper by the case

I've draped my chair in towels to keep her from scratching more holes in it. Notice the key word here is holes.

I haven't learned to speak "meow" yet, but I am learning what her majesty demands of me. I am becoming quite the expert....

... at reading her mind. Tune in next time and I will tell you what she is thinking here.

Today begins week 7 of the 5% Winter Challenge! I lost 6 pounds the first week! I was so excited, but as seems to be my pattern, I hover around that weight, losing or gaining the same few ounces, over and over again.

I found the Week 6 Living the Good Life Challenge to be very eye opening. Out of sight out of mind really wasn't true for me, but I was made more aware of how often I look for things to nosh after supper. I was good though and stuck to the plan.

Meal Planning for week 7. I am good with planning breakfast and supper, but not so great with lunch. I do find writing it down the night before to be helpful. If you are a participant in the Winter 5% Challenge, please be sure to check out the excellent meal planning resources KALISWALKER has included in the challenge details.

On to Okavango Delta, Botswana! Have a great week!

If you are not a challenge participant, we will be starting sign-ups for Spring in a couple of weeks. Check us out to see if you might be interested.

We just rescued two little fur kitties and they have stolen our hearts. Unfortunately, they are both pretty sickly. But I'm dos emoticon ing them both with antibiotics from the Vet. Poor little munchkins...they do have a way of stealing your heart, don't they?

Mine only eat the Gravy Lovers with a preference for the beef. They actually just like to lick the gravy off and leave the bits of mystery meat. I wish they just sold the gravy.

Didn't you love the video? I love the Falls. Our neighbor's cat. Grady, has us well trained. When we drive up to the house, he runs to our steps and merows until we pet him and bring him a bowl of milk. He does wait fairly patiently for us to go fetch it.
We can't stare down his green eyes and he has such a soft grey coat.
    Well
    Trained.

You are spoiling her! But I understand how the returned love makes it worth it. I so miss my cats and am NOT happy to learn when I signed my lease renewal last week that in spite of the large non-refundable deposit I paid when I got my cat - and told as long as there were no issues and I lived in that apt I was entitled to a cat - that should I decide not to move, I can't get another cat now. NO cats allowed in their buildings now period. I PAID big bucks for that right. It's been less than a year since I had to give up my cat due to her being allergic to something in this stupid apt. I only held off get another cause one of their staff threatened me with not renewing my lease (but turns out had no authority to do that). I am not happy. I AM moving. May be 10 years from now at the rate I am able to save, but I want out. I NEED my cat! Among other things. And yes, I'd live with holes in the towel covered chair in order to have one!

Celebrate that 6 pounds in spite of the frustration at plateauing. It's been a very difficult season, at least on my team. You are ahead of most of us. I know. We all want it to be more. Especially when we've gone to the trouble to participate in the Challenges that are hard. I found courses really helped stretch the meal out.

Awww Queenie is JUST THAT !! A QUEEN !! LOL She has her SOOO WRAPPED around her paw ! I LOVE the heart and of course her pics !!

Awww on the Fancy Feast !! I did buy some for Izzy (Isabelle) but she TURNED UP her Kitty SNOBBY little tiny nose. I found out a few months ago IzMaRelda (LOL still Izzy) has hepatitis C. She's on meds,, which of course she HATES !! I watched youtube on how to give a pill to a cat which suggested you wrapped the kitty up like you would a baby in a burrito wrap. It DOES work. Plus if your scared they can EASILY tell and they'll fight the days lights outta ya to escape,,, keep spitting out the pill or the worse,,, keep it in their mouth than start to FOAM AT THE MOUTH !! I hate that it always scares me !! Thankfully she's only done that once.

I normally don't have food on the counters etc anything in plain sight. I like my house in order which includes this. NO doubt because Mom was that way and of course she trained me. This one (week 7) is definitely a challenge for me. I had told MaryAnn (CL Dawggies which U know, someone else if reading likely wouldn't) that there was NO WAY I'd be able to do it. Than right before I went to bed I thought "At least give it a try !" And YEAH I was able to record a 9 for the points today !

I was so excited to see that you wrote another blog about your cat. It just makes me smile to know I am not the only one a slave to a cat. Plus you write it well. I would be happy if I lost those 6 pounds and didn't refind them. emoticon

I loved the update on Queenie. I too am a cat slave. Mine also thinks Fancy Cat with gravy is the best and trys to cover or get rid of any other wet food. He does demand dry snacks daily in addition to Fancy Cat. My owners name is KiKi..

Have to say that I particularly enjoy the LTGL (Living the Good Life) challenges each week of the 5% seasonal challenges. We're presented with challenges to overcome on our way to establishing healthy habits that will support healthy lifestyles to come.

I am part of the 5% Winter Challenge and I must say I've had quite a struggle this time around. But I'm staying the course and making a bit of progress. I just wanted to let you know I love these challenges. I love the support from the group. I'm in the Shooting Stars and they are a very active, and supportive group. I'm going to sign up for the Spring, as these Challenges keep on accountable and I need that.

As for Queenie the Cat, they do rule the roost or should I say house. You can't help but love them. They definitely are finicky and know what they want and do not want. Maybe we should be more like them. emoticon

You take care, be safe and stay healthy.
