For those who don't know me, I am semi-retired as of Jan 1. I worked for an investment firm for 17 years. Most of the offices are 2-person (an advisor & an admin person). I was the admin person.
Because of the fact that the offices are usually just 2 people, when the admin is on vacation or out sick, there is a pool of 'on call' help. As an on-call, I decide which dates I'm available and in which locations I will work. I set myself up for 3 counties - that gives me about 30 different offices.
One of the upsides is that *IF* I have a really bad experience working in an office, I just remove that office from my AVAILABLE list.
Well, I had 3 days last week and 5 days this week in the same location. And I have found my first office to remove from my available list!
Lord have mercy!
Have you ever felt that no matter how much you do, it's not enough? That's how I felt after my 3 days last week. Had I not already committed to work for her several months ago, I would not have come back this week. I'm not booked there for any more days (thank you, Jesus!)
I was doing my best to leave thorough notes and wrap everything up because, if at all possible, I do NOT want to have to talk to this gal again.
I got everything buttoned up (hopefully), and headed over to take care of my dog walking duties. I walk a friend's dog for him Mon-Fri. I called to let him know I was headed his way and there was no answer. That makes me nervous because he's elderly and lives alone.
Sure enough, I found him on the floor. He'd fallen and didn't have his phone with him.
Normally I would have walked the dog this morning. Praise the lord that I was running late today and called to let him know I would come by after work. If that hadn't happened, he would have been on the floor until Saturday morning!
His step-daughter was the one who watched out for him, but she moved out of state. Fortunately between me and another friend, somebody is calling him or going by the house at least once a day. His stepson isn't far away, but he isn't in the habit of daily check-ins. Maybe this incident will change that?
I always post some music and some good news with my blogs, so...
Local good news...about a politician! How 'bout that???
and my current musical OBSESSION...Lizzo!
OMG - I LOVE HER! I've heard several people talk about her for months. Elton John is a big fan. I never took the time to look up any of her music, then her NPR Tiny Desk concert came out last week. I have listened to it at least 3 times a day, every day since. I won't post that one because of the language (she cusses like a sailor).
Here's one that I can share (edited for live radio...gotta be clean!)
What a voice!!!
And my theme song after this week...(also cleaned up for live radio)
Have a great weekend. I plan to get back to my weekly recap blogs now that things have settled down a bit.
I have been getting in my exercise, but need to get back to nutrition tracking.
