2020 update

A new year seems promising. I recently moved into a new house and am considering this a new start for me. Things got hard at the old house and I am glad for a change. In 2016 I started teaching and working on my teaching credential and now I will be finishing up my Master’s degree this May. During this time I experienced extreme stress and found myself exhausted regularly. I am looking forward to finding more balance in my life.

The last couple of years I have been working on intuitive eating and self-acceptance. I was definitely not sure if intuitive eating was the right path for me. I was skeptical about it, especially since weight gain can be experienced. It was really difficult at first and a process to undo all the damage that dieting and diet culture have caused. What I have found is that intuitive eating is life changing. I am listening to my body and I feel so much better. I no longer struggle with binge eating or guilt/shame about my eating choices. I am able to focus my energy on more positive things and enjoy life.

I am starting the next phase on this journey with gentle nutrition and joyful movement.

I just started working out again and I have missed it so much. I am easing back in due to inactivity and past injuries. Exercise is a great stress reliever and good for my health.

    I spent so many, many years trying to hate myself into losing weight. It never worked. Once I came to a place where I wanted it just for me, I became willing and able to do what needed to be done. The process (I use WW) was so easy and natural. I was actually eating food items I had NEVER eaten before, like bananas and corn. Foods I had decided were not good for me... and I am wrong.

    Self love has made all the difference. Wishing you the same!

    I agree, Intuitive Eating is life-changing. I am currently almost finished reading the 3rd edition, but the authors are coming out with a fully updated 4th edition, including three new chapters, in June. I can't wait to see what is new. Amazon says there are chapters on weight culture, diet stigma, and weaning babies, but it is supposedly revised throughout the book. I will definitely be ordering it, this is in the top 5 most important books I've ever read. So glad to "meet" you through IE!
