Monday morning was the first of many Functional Fitness classes in 2020. If you like something that's ALWAYS different and a full-body strength type workout, give it a try.

This is Reggie, the Functional Fitness instructor at the YMCA. He's SO GOOD. Never stops learning, and teaching us new moves. Often when he tells us what we'll be doing, I am thinking NO WAY, Reggie. I will never be able to do that. But he gives us the progression, we work through the steps, and voila!
One of my favorite FF class stories: Reggie had us get the big foam roller and a stability ball.
He told us to take our shoes off and had us stand on the foam roller. The stability ball was on the floor in front of us. He told us to squat down, pick up the ball, then stand and lift the ball over our heads, squat to put the ball back on the floor, and return to standing.
WHILE STANDING ON A FOAM ROLLER THE ENTIRE TIME!
And I did it! All of us did. That's one of the moves I do on my own sometimes because I'm still amazed that I can. Great for core strength & balance.
