Corona Virus Blues

Saturday, May 16, 2020

I am longing for the return of some normalcy. Social distancing and the mandatory mask wearing at work makes work suck. No more handshakes, high-fives, fist bumps, or bear hugs is enough to make anyone blue, especially those of us that do not have families at home. When the outside world is all you have and it's turned upside down you're left with what feels like nothing. The movie theaters are closed. My swim school is closed. Almost everything that makes me happy is closed due to quarantine. I hope this pandemic ends soon.

Yes heartbreaking I have to try very hard not to stress out when dealing with the weirdness out here now.

I am sure that things will get back to normal after a certain amount of time, and a vaccine is in place. We have been through pandemics and other bad events and people continue on. History has been made, good people lost, memories created - good and bad, and some will even forget this just as the Spanish flu was practically forgotten. It might take awhile, but we will be okay. Hang in there!

I went through the drive through at Taco Bell Friday for a treat and it was mind altering. At the drive through window they had on gloves, an apron, and a plastic, cap. They dangled the credit card reader out of the window, and used a plastic tub to pass my food to me. It was the strangest thing I have ever encountered. It's like no one is a person anymore instead everyone is a disease you could potentially catch. It's heartbreaking. emoticon

Social distancing is starting to get to me also. I don't want to hear all the phrases we are all in this together, keep at least 6 feet away, etc.

So many people are suffering so greatly from the quarantine - loss of job, income,
human contact, and closeness. A local psychiatrist has said it will be the greatest
mental health crisis ever known. I hope not. I am fortunate enough to have two
of my children living with me, so I am not totally isolated. Stay strong - at least
    some places are easing restrictions.

Normal will never be what it was before. But I’m sure we’ll all adapt to whatever it is. emoticon

Me also. Our dear friend died unexpectedly last night at 58 and I can't even hug his wife or attend a funeral. So sad!
