Lyme Disease

Thursday, July 16, 2020

So, the good news is that my doctor and I are fairly certain that I don't have COVID-19. The bad news is that I most definitely have Lyme disease. Interestingly enough, it's 11 days later and I still haven't gotten my Coronavirus test results back. But 7 days after my fever spiked, this began to appear:

I called my doctor and sent him this picture. He says in one of the clearest cases of Lyme that he's ever seen. Fever spike, chills, sweats, headache, and then the rash is classic.

I'm grateful the rash appeared, even though I'm now breaking out all over. I never found a tick, so I probably would never have suspected Lyme disease otherwise. I'm definitely in the early phase, so hopefully we can knock it out early before it becomes a big problem. I started an intense antibiotic treatment yesterday. I'm taking probiotics as well so hopefully I won't have too many ill effects from the medicine. My doctor said I should be feeling much better after a week. I hope that's true because even without the fever, I've been feeling TERRIBLE. I feel like my body aged 30 years in a week.

I'm grateful that I don't have COVID-19. I'm grateful we caught the Lyme disease early. I'm also a little frustrated that I finally started getting my health and fitness under control and this happened. I was finally starting to feel GOOD in my body. But I guess it makes sense this happened since I've been spending every day outside.

I should be feeling better soon and my doctor did say that I'm clear to do any activities if I'm feeling up to it. I think I'm going to try some light yoga over the next few days to ease myself back into exercising. To any of my fellow Under Dawgs reading this, I hoping to be back to earning us exercise miles next week.

Have any of you had Lyme disease? Any recommendations for getting back to normal?
