I didn't realize that making poor choices was irrational thinking and I never made the connection that poor choices are due to all or nothing thinking. I should research it. Google says it is also called dichotomous thinking, splitting, and black and white thinking, thinking in extremes.
Feeling there is no grey area is how a child thinks. Good/bad, love/hate. I didn't realize I did that, but Indygirl's quote (above in title) makes perfect sense in following traffic rules and applying it to dieting/healthy lifestyle choices.
I will try to be ore mindful of all-or-nothing thinking and monitor it.
