Sewing things

Friday, January 08, 2021

I consider myself an average sewer, I have made clothes for myself and kids over the years. i knew many different kinds of stitches and such. repair lots of clothing and replace zippers etc

Well My DIL wanted pillows for her rocking chair that was her mothers who died while she was younger, my son painted it for her. i made pillows for the back and seat based on my sons measurement well the back went well but the seat was to small so i used a cushion i had from my rocker up stairs and readjusted so and it is better so happy about that !

now to work on the chair bag for her to put a drink in or a snack while she is feeding my granddaughter or her phone or whatever else she might want... it had to be stable so not your typical tote bag kinda thing ..... i had material let over and just now how to figure out the concept...... finally tackled it and am very happy with the results! I still have to add the straps with buttons so it can be adjusted

my brain hurt from trying to get the measurements right and angles for sure as I didn't want to go back and buy more material.... there will be to handles on the long side that she can wrap around the arm of the chair and attach with buttons.
Will be working on that today.

being retired does have it's perks!

Oh the little rolling seat is my sewing chair and it holds all my sewing things inside and I redid that also years ago it was vinyl originally that cracked and ripped. the bench was still in good shape so I just recovered it

    How constructice!

With all the family tradges. Of the 5 yrs., I have all but abandoned my sewing.

Now with that and all the outside problems.
I am going to sit up my new machine still in the box, and, get at it again.

Thanks for getting me motivated AGAIN !

Nice work! 3D sewing is tricky! I can do straight lines and one dimensional work but I can only imagine trying to figure out how to make the tote! Came out great- I'm sure it will be very appreciated.

Very nice, Chris! I too, am an average sewer and usually make garments to be worn more often that crafty things. I do like the way the cushions turned out and hope they're comfortable. I have to say that the chair bag is not what I had pictured in my mind when you were posting about it on the DIY team.
