Scales are stupid

Friday, October 12, 2007

My first weight gain since I joined SP. 2 lbs - I know it's water because I didn't drink enough water all week and didn't control my sodium either. This is a reminder that I can't have an "off" week, I have to be diligent and on my job EVERY day. Starting in January, the scale comes out once a month only. As long as I’m eating the way I should, it will always show a loss and none of these stupid daily/weekly fluctuations.
Well, I’m off to a very busy day and I’m taking a gym bag and hope to blog this evening that I went there today.

I did a scale detox (per se) just so I wouldn't be obsessed with weighing myself. Simply beause the scale fluctuates and I needed to prove that. I weighed every morning for 2 weeks and recorded everything. Made sure I stayed on focus - changed nothing. Guess what I went up and down like a yo-yo. By the time my official WI I generally loss. But I found comfort in knowing that I was doing the right things but sometimes the scale has a bad day or I use to say it was in TOM! Generally when I gain I take my measurements and most certainly inches have fallen. Stay positive you're doing great!

Hi Lynn.. boy I hear you about the sodium.. my body retains water like crazy if I have too much salt. I am getting better about it.. no more salt at the table, only when I cook. Why don't you try weighing every 2 weeks? I am still doing the every thursday because thats the day for my 150+ team. I am finally under 300!!
How is the gym working out? I haven't heard from you in a few days and am just dying to know..(grin) You will take that 2lbs back off in no time and girl.. do yourself a favor... DRINK YOU WATER!
    Hugs to you,

I agree with DoItAllMom, we can do everything right and sometimes still the scale does not show us what we want to see. You are doing great and one of the most important things we all need to do here is to learn how to push through those minor disappointments and stay on track. I'm one of those people who weigh daily, just to help me stay motivated.

Lynn, as much as we want the scale to move in the right direction every week, some times it does not. When it does not cooperate, we need to focus on how we feel. I know you feel better this week, regardless of the number, I know you have more energy... Try to cut back on the sodium if you can... I too hold water very easily with extra sodium!

This is a life style, not a battle with the scale!!! Look for non-scale victories (NSV) in your new life...
