I'm preparing to battle the onslaught of food.

Thursday, October 25, 2007

My doctor was very pleased today with my progress. She cautioned me about the coming holidays. This will be the big dog daddy test! I know that I don't want to come to the computer and have to write about how I went overboard, couldn't resist, gained weight, blah, blah, blah. So I'm gonna prepare for warfare. I need armor, tactics and strategies. If they have 15 pot lucks at work, I'm taking 15 salads. I have to tell my mother that she can't make me any sweet potato pies to take home. I plan to have 2 slices the entire season and won't eat the crust. I'm thinking of making a sign for my cube to discourage offers of home made goodies.
The season will not defeat me; I will be victorious and lose 20 more lbs by the end of the year.
So let it be written, so let it be done!!!

Great way to be proactive! I was thinking I might even have Thanksgiving here to insure healthy delicious food.

Love your idea for a sign for your cube! That is a great idea, I may use that one... I almost bit off someone's head last week, they came over and gave me a hard time for not eating cider and doughnuts.... He knows I'm watching things, and yet he came to my cube anyway.... I told him that it was raw sewage, and I was not interested... he looked a bit shocked, but got the point, no junk for me!

How about a cubicle sign along the lines of: All I want for Christmas is 20 pounds gone! Help my holiday wish come true - this is a cookie-candy-calorie free zone! Thanks from the future skinny girl.

I'm stealing the idea. I'm putting up a sign, Warfare :Amazon Warrior and making lists, Armour, tactics and strategies.

It's a wonderful picture in my head.

I know what you mean. I am fearing the upcoming holidays. I have a plan and a I plan to stick to it. I am gonna try everything but I am gonna feel up on turkey and greens and then just have a few spoonfuls of everything else that I wanna try. I'm taking my water bottle and Listerine strips with me for back up because I can't eat or drink anything but water after having those Listerine strips. You should pick up some of those if you haven't already tried them because I don't know about you but I can eat without even being hungry just cuz I know it's good and I'm gonna skip the punch too.

I found it really helpful to be the "fruit tray" girl at pot lucks. I was always the one showing up with grapes, strawberries, cut bananas, etc....You can even make your own low-cal healthy dip with a little honey and some lite vanilla yogurt to go with it. If I go to parties, I eat a small, filling snack before I go (like a Kashi bar) so I don't pig out. I fill up my plate first with healthy vegetable dishes and then squeak in small amounts of fattening stuff around it so I don't feel too deprived. And I try to stick to water.

Sounds like you've got some great ideas though! Can't wait to see you writing about how you safely and healthily navigated the season!
