For two weeks I couldn't lose any weight. I started using the food tracker and the first time I used it opened my eyes! emoticon I was almost up to 500 calories by lunch. And that was eating healthy. I found out that by using the food tracker and watch carefully the amount of food you eat makes the differences.

MEAL PLANNING - agreed! emoticon That's very important. Lots of times I find myself in a situation where I don't have anything healthy to eat and I'm already too hungry to cook something, so I reach for bakery food/fast food. I can avoid this easily when I plan ahead and prepare everything in advance. Thanks for reminding us of this!

My morning smoothie seems to be helping. I feel better. Usual stuff in it. Spinach, a fruit(nectarines ATM), oatmeal, protein powder, fat free yogurt or greek yogurt, zucchini, or tomatoes, cucumber, etc. Lots of vegies anf fruit!

I mentioned this in the daily chat thread, but thought I'd post here too. Instead of bread for a sandwich or a burger, use a leaf of red (purple) cabbage, or green cabbage. I cut out the center rib, and put it in the microwave about a minute to soften it a bit. Only 7 calories, and it works just fine. A tip...cabbage will last a long time in the fridge if you don't cut it before you store it...just peel off individual leaves as you need them. If you cut it, it will start to go bad much faster. Lettuce leaves would also work for a wrap. You will save calories and carbs.

- Add a cup of green tea to your daily menu for all kinds of benefits - antioxidants and many nutrients help weight loss, prevent cancer, improve brain function, dental health, lower your diabetes risk, good for your liver and colon...Basically, what it does for me - calms me down, lowers my anxiety & stress, solves the water retention problem, fills my stomach instead of some unhealthy snack... I drink it without anything or I add lemon, cinnamon,etc. I prefer to buy it in special bio stores where they have many combos. (green tea with ginger, apple, sinnamon, lemon...) and it's healthier. But I don't have it, the tea bags are also fine.

Low carb foods

- I just read a book about the advantages of LCHF (low carb high fat) lifestyle. The book explains how it works in detail and it gives guidelines of food to avoid and what to eat freely. It's becoming more popular with time and I can see that many people swear it helped them lose weight and improve health in general. The general pointers are to eat meat, eggs, fish, vegetables that grow above the ground, some fruit (lemons, grapefruit, avocado, berries..) and nuts. Avoid carbs (wheat, rye, corn; bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, sweets, cookies, cakes, crisps, fries, some fruit, sodas, juices, anything sugary). I'm trying out a few recipes, so we'll see how it goes. Similar names: LCHF, low carb, paleo.

No late night eating

- when I don't eat after 6 pm or 7 pm, I have much bigger chance to lose weight. When I come home late from work, I'm so hungry, so I just stuff myself with something quick. It always ends with a weight gain in the morning. Normal portion dinner (no sugary foods) before 7 pm is what truly helps.
