Hi everyone, I am Connie. I just joined this team after a spark coach assignment. I have never really admitted that I have an emotional eating problem. But I do. I have hidden most of it. But I realized last month after an extremely stressful few days at work that i drove by a dunkin doughnuts and I literally said out loud "I need some doughnut therapy". Unfortunately I did get 2 doughnuts, but just the vocalization of the thought has heightened my awareness. I start my journey to handle my emotions more productively here, with others on the journey. May we support each other and share our successes together. emoticon

Hi my name is Hollye and I am an emotional eater.

Phew now I've got that off my chest it would be really lovely to meet people on this site and go on a journey which WILL seriously change our lives for the better. I've been a big'un pretty much exactly half my life, I want the next chapter of mine to be one where actually that song I'm Sexy and I Know It, you know really catchy but kinda weird, means something.

Hi everyone. I am new to SparkPeople and am hoping that by joining a public support system I will be able to achieve my weight loss goal. I came very close to achieving my goal 6 months ago but I didn't manage to succeed. I am back at square one and am hoping that this attempt will be the one that is successful! I am looking forward to giving and receiving all the motivational and positive support necessary to help with achieving these goals. Good luck to everyone on their personal journeys and I am looking forward to finally changing my life for the better! :)

Hi Holly! Welcome! Sorry you're having such a hard time. I believe the first step is awareness which you have just done with courage, and the 2nd step is acceptance. Being able to accept yourself as is, and knowing you're worth it is something that's hard, but in the end is the only want to move forward! Good LucK! emoticon

Hi, my name is Holly and I have been on a diet rollercoaster for the past 6 years. I have gone from 150 to a whopping 245. I am now at my highest weight ever and I am exasperated. I have never been able to admit to stress eating but after getting up every hour on the hour last night and each time finding something to stuff in my mouth, it is time to look in the mirror and admit the truth. There has been a lot going on in the past 15 months, ex-husband slowing dying of cancer, teenage daughters struggling with their father's illness, trying to work full time and the list goes on and on. I feel I am at the bottom of the barrel and there is no where to go but up. First step is admitting I have a problem, now to learn other coping techniques. Thank you for creating this forum.

Hi,

I'm new to the team but not to Spark. I'm finally getting used to the idea that I might indeed be an emotional eater after being in denial for years!

Look forward to meeting new friends, sharing experiences and learning how to eat when I'm hungry and not because I'm upset or tired!

I am new (again ) to the Team. But I am definitely an Emotional Eater. My worst time is @ night between 8-10p.m. I WILL aim to not eat between this time. I already know what to eat that is heathly-but my "binges" are triggered by emotions @ night. I really want to be successful this time.

Hi everyone!

My name is MJ and I'm definitely an emotional eater. It is my biggest obstacle to losing weight, and a source of a lot of frustration. Some days are better than others, and I'm slowly getting better. I'm really glad this group is here, and that I'm not the only one who struggles with this.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you! emoticon

Hi I am Summer, living in Florida. I am trying to loose the pregnancy weight, and have been trying for 1 1/2 years now. I am very active, but I eat and eat and eat. I eat when I am am sad, lonely, bored, etc etc. I am addicted to food.
I quit smoking before baby and I am very proud of that, and I will not start again, but I do think it is part of the reason it is so hard for me to eat less and manage my snacking and portions.
But tomorrow is a new day. And with the help of Sparkpeople I will loose this weight:D

Hi, I am Sara. I never could acknowledge being an emotional eater. After losing 65 pounds with spark people, 265 down to just under 200, I was so proud of myself. I worked so hard. Then, after devastating family issues and a year, I gained 20 of those pounds back. I stopped being as active and started eating junk food. It started slow at first, then I just gave up with out even saying it. About 3 weeks ago, I noticed a pair of my pants that had gotten tighter, now almost did not button at all. That is when I weighed myself. I was not shocked, but it hit me that I needed to look in the food mirror. I needed to realize that I not only needed to stop doing this to myself, but that I also needed to figure out why I was doing this to myself. I have lost a pound since that realization. I am going to continue to work on myself mentally as well as physically. Support is key to that.

Hi, I'm Deb. I had a mastectomy 2 years ago, and starting eating at every setback or problem. Recently I realized that I go for snack foods every time I get angry or sad or anxious etc. I am trying to work on it, but since joining SparkPeople I know how much difference community support makes. So here I am.

Hi. I'm Julie. I am back on spark people after almost 3 years of not following "my plan". I had lost over 100 lbs and in the past 3 years I have gained almost 30 back. I gave in to emotional eating when under stress instead of working out like I had learned to do previously. Now I am realizing that I stopped putting what I need as a top priority and that I am the only one who is responsible for doing that so I better get crackin'!! I also realized that I need support b/c things are tougher now, thanks to menopause :-( and I need to work my program a little differently than before. A slower pace is quite challenging to someone who struggles with patience! I just have to remember "slow and steady wins the race"!! emoticon

HI, I'm Meg. I joined this group to read about how others avoid triggers or deal with triggers for their emotional eating as well as bingeing. I yo-yo do to my emotional eating. My normal weight is 160, but I've been anywhere from 220 to 130 and back. Currently at 190 (I haven't been in the 200's since 2009, and hope to keep it that way). I'd like to figure myself out and learn a lifetime habit to deal with my triggers.

Hi there. My name is Melissa. So tired of trying and not succeeding like I'd like to. I think I've set myself up for success in many ways, but I'm learning that I can't fight this battle on my own. I'm an introvert and so reaching out, going to groups, etc. is not easy for me. I'm joining a couple of SparkTeams because I want to lose this weight for good. I'm joining this team because emotional eating is my biggest battle. Sometimes it's hard to even imagine being free from it, but that's where I want to be. Looking forward to finding out more about this team.

Good morning everyone. My name is Carolyn and I'm new here today. I was a member of this team several years ago but I left because I was too overwhelmed while I was taking care of my dear sick mom. She did a year ago. Hopefully this time around I will stick to my food plans better and will learn more alternative things to do rather than eat all day...and all night. I enjoyed being on the team before, so I am motivated that this team will help me.

I am new and I need all the help I can get with the emotional eating. I am divorced and have two grown children. My co-worker is trying to lose weight and my daughter is trying to lose weight, so you would think that I can get on board with them, but I just seem to eat all the more.

Hey everyone, my name's Tanner. I recently lost over 50 lbs and am 20 lbs away from my goal. In the past month though, eating has been a big problem. I will go all day eating healthy, then once I'm home at night the cravings kick in. I'll eat at 12am, 1am, 2am. I'll just stuff my face with food that is horrible with me with no restraint. It sucks but I figure why not surround myself with people with the same problems who are looking or have already conquered this problem.

The first step in achieving your goal, is to take a moment to respect your goal. Know what it means to you to achieve it.

Hi, My name is Brandeis. I am new to the group. I am the mother of three children ages 13,11 and 9. Right now, I am at the heaviest I have been in my life. I am 33 years old but feel like I'm 50. I work sometimes 7 days a week, 12 hours a day as a correctional officer. Needless to say, I am tired all the time. I really need a good push in the right direction and help to stay motivated. This is not my first time trying to lose weight of course. I am trying to be more diligent about tracking my food intake and become more active and stay motivated.

Hi! My name is Angelina and I am new to the group. I live in Philadelphia and work as a controller for a property management company as well as a real estate agent in training. I work very long hours and I have been noticing the effects of it. I have become a workaholic and health, nutrition and exercise have been put on the back burner. I have always battled with my weight and emotional eating. Whether I am happy and upset, food is where I turn to. I am looking forward to being part of this team and getting to know my teammates. emoticon

Hey there,

Just introducing myself! I'm a wife, mom, and a teacher. I'm so glad to find this team as it's time to go back to school and my stress will start! I've been down this road of weight loss before; I've even been really successful, but I've gained it back. Well I'm done with that! I recommitted to SP and I'm excited to change my life!

Nice to be here!

Hi Everyone! I have started SparkPeople about 3 weeks ago. Members of another SpartTeam suggested I try this team, so here I am! This is my first time keeping "track" of my eating habits and workouts. Quite the eye opener. I find it hard to keep up with but I keep telling myself, I am just starting. Any tips and tricks out there for a mother who is working full time and taking care of family and home. Not enough time in the day for all this tracking and time to myself. LOL I am finding that I am a constant grazer all day long at work. Not sure why, as I love my job. I believe it's just boredom on the days that it is slow. What recommendations do you have for the grazer. Ideas, suggestions, advice, encouragement are all welcomed. Thank you. emoticon

Hello Everybody ~

New to the team so I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Alice. I live in the north central part of Texas. I am married to a wonderful and supportive husband. He has a problem of trying to gain weight. So eating in our household is a challenge.

I had two children - a son who is on the Dallas Police Force and a daughter who was a nurse. She is deceased. Have 4 biological grandchildren and a ton of step-children/grandchildren/great grands. Too many to count.

I am retired from Federal civil service. So is my husband.

I knit and crochet. Love making things for other people. The most recent has been knit slippers and crochet pot holders (pic on my page) I make a pair of slippers each week for a door prize at my Weight Watchers meeting.

We have a 5th wheel travel trailer, but do not get to camp as often as we would like. We have pets and it is difficult to travel with them. However we do take our cats and shih tzue with us.
.
Have 4 cats and two dogs. All the cats we rescued found in the streets. One was trapped in the intersection of a 4lane 6lane highway. I just stopped my car, got out and grabbed her up and threw her in the car. My DH said I had 2 weeks to get rid of her. That was 11 years ago.

Hi Everyone, my name is Janis. I decided I needed to join a team that would help with the out of control eating. I feel I may get some discipline steps here.
I was doing so well last year. I started my weight loss on February 4th of last year. A very sweet and kind team leader from one of the teams started working with me on that day and taught me how to use the nutrition tracker. She helped me learn other tools as well. She still continues to give me advice. She doesn't want me to put on all the weight I lost, and neither do I. I lost 31 pounds. I reached my goal (I believe) in October. I stayed motivated into December. I was enthusiastic and wanted to exercise everyday.
I have been dealing with anxiety since December of last year. Recently my Doctor has been to find a medicine for me. I feel like with this anxiety I want to eat to deal with it. I'm not finding enough time to do all I want to do. I feel like I need to reteach my self what used to be my better eating habits. I love food. It seems once I start eating, I don't want to stop.
I feel this team can help me with these issues. I can say one very positive thing that as of last week I got myself back into exercise. I feel motivated to do it. That is a blessing!
Thank you, Team. I'm looking forward to learning some very good habits here.

Spark People Team Leader, GLITTERGIRL, from Team, "I Can't Do This On My Own", helped me reach my goal in 2012. I was able to maintain my weight for several months, but now I have to get serious again as much of my hard work I let go of, putting my focus on another issue. I will keep on, until I get back to my goal.

Welcome Emily.
I live in MO and am going to grad school. I have a dog and she keeps me busy! :)

I think identifying your triggers is a great start. I haven't learned all of mine yet! :(

Best of luck.

Hi everyone. I'm Emily and I am an emotional eater. I've been working on this for a long time and am pretty good at dealing with emotions without eating. BUT I frequently eat in the evenings and when I'm really tired--right before bedtime. I have identified this trigger and am working on it, but don't always win.
I'm from West Tennessee, live alone, have 3 grown children with 1 1/2 grandsons. #2 is due in a couple of months!
It's great to find this team!
