Hello. I joined spark with the goal of losing weight and hopefully improving my health. My medical conditions include Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, Type 2 Diabetes, Depression, Migraines, Fatigue, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Raynaud's Disease. I haven't known a pain free day in over 12 years, but I will not let that stop me. I look forward to making friends and being an active member of the team.

Hi! My name is Suzanne, Iím 5í2Ē, and I reside in the Canadian Province of Saskatchewan. Iíve been a member of Spark since May/09. I was really active until 2015 when I decided to take a break. I left all my Spark teams, including one on which I was a co-leader, and I just stopped logging in. Then, in Winter/16, I started coming back to Spark regularly and, in January/17, I joined Team Saskatchewan and found a great group of people there to keep me motivated. Itís been over a year since getting active again on Spark, and that daily activity has encouraged me to join a few more teams, including this one.

I suffer from high BP, high cholesterol, and was recently diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I suffer from Degenerative Disc Disease and Fibromyalgia, so vigorous activity is out, but I won't let that stop me from moving. Even though it can exacerbate my pain, I walk around my office building during my noon hours and walk at home to a Leslie Sansone DVD. Iím an avid scrapbooker, and I knit and crochet. I love reading, watching movies and attending concerts. All of my children are furryóSullivan (a red smooth dachshund) and Sophie (a blonde long-haired dachshund). My babies, Steve and Sam, are together in Heaven watching over us.

With the recent pre-diabetic diagnosis, I am more focused than ever to get this weight off. Iím striving for 50 lbs. Iíd love it to be more, but that will be determined after Iím down the 50.

Hello Nicole. If you scroll through some of the topics lots and lots of members complain about having to hem every pair of pants they buy!

I've got to review my Fall clothes...see what stays, goes or needs alteration.

Hi everyone. I'm 5'3" and I'm a librarian and PhD student in Nebraska. I've been off and on SparkPeople for almost 10 years now, and I've been back on since February of last year. I lost 10lbs from February to my birthday (in October) and that's when I turned 30 and got serious. Since then I've lost much more weight, but I've still got 100ish more to go. When I do laundry I end up inside the machine with my butt in the air and feet dangling! I like to call it aerobic laundry emoticon

MJ...I remember you from your previous posting on Petite Place...glad to see you back!

Like you I cruised around for almost 3 years...trying this and that. Then I read Tough Love and changed my protocols.

Mellowgal is my nickname = MLOGAL. But I had to become more forceful in my quest! Stomp feet, leave the breakroom, distract the food pushers and keep my food always available.

Hi I was 5'2" and am now 5'1" I had trouble washing clothes at my dil's she is 5'10" and could hardly reach the bottom of the machine to pull things out....Good thing all of my grandchildren are tall so far. The 8 year old is up to my eyes, the 7 year old to my chin, the 6's are above my shoulder. I should have lots of help to reach the high shelves. I have to remember to look up at my kids houses when I can't find something because they are so much taller than I am.
I have been stuck at 132 for 2.5 years and really need to break my plateau.

Hi everyone. I'm Angela and I'm a second year medical student on the east coast. I've been an on/off user of Spark People and similar sites over the past few years, but since starting medical school, I've found keeping healthy is something I've been struggling with a lot, and I put on quite a bit of weight. I'm looking to regain my activity level and fitness, as well as lose weight, so that I can maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout graduate school into my professional career.

Welcome CAROL! I live in Chagrin Falls - so I'm watching summer slip away like you. Back surgery - of late everyone I know who has had to go through this action has been so pleased and happy that they had something done.

Calorie counts do matter - but I've been on a "ramp up nutrition" path the past couple months. Finding out I was low on potassium and protein as well. I added Bone Broth to my Menu and have not been so tempted by dessert type foods.

Also I eat on "Dolly" dishes! Yes, I love miniatures! I'm easily amused....LOL

This looks like a good place to be! I'm 5'2" trying to lose 8-10 lbs. Waiting to have back surgery, so limited on activities. I'm 62, "retired" RN and live in NE Ohio. I've been at the same weight for a long time and any tips are appreciated. I feel like 1200 calories are not low enough to lose weight while I'm sedentary...any tips are appreciated.
Have a GREAT WEDNESDAY

Hi RSWIFE! I had to laugh with you at your post...I can't reach the bottom of the washing machine without standing on tiptoes. Trying to get socks from the bottom of the machine can involve a lot of effort sometimes! Also, I haven't been able to wear my wedding or engagement rings for years, and I would love to get back to wearing them again. Some day.

Hi, I was a die hard member of spark people from 2009 to 2012. I was an avid runner and I watched my food choices. I lost 70 pounds. Then I went back to work full time and I just gave up. Today I am finding myself right back where I started. I know I gained it all back. I haven't got on the scale yet, but I have gotten back on the treadmill. I have new goals and I hope to achieve them one at a time. The first is that I want to be able to put my engagement ring back on my finger. I haven't been able to wear it for a year now. I saw your group and the short people problems made me laugh out loud. I have been affected by all of them. I even have some of my own. I fall into my hamper trying to empty it on laundry day. I just can't seem to reach the bottom. Lol. Hope to contribute to a fun supportive team! Lots of luck to all members!

WELCOME ROSEMARY!

I've been on SparkPeople since 2006. Have been to Goal weight and back several times! Getting it off is one thing - keeping it off is another!

I'm listening to Deepok Chopra's "What Are You Hungry For?" - very fun!

Hi everyone. I just joined this team. I've been on SparkPeople for years, and weight has been a constant struggle for me. I'm 5'2". I never knew about this team and just stumbled upon it, so thought I'd join. Happy to meet you all! :)

Oh...and actually at the moment I weight about four pounds over my ticker weight. My current goal is to get back down to that.

Part of the reason that I've been so sedentary for the last 4 years is because I was T-boned on the expressway doing 60 mph. I'm just now getting to the point that I refuse to be sitting on my butt all day.
I'm moving more which pleases me, and I figure that at this point, even stretching is intentional exercise.

STAR....WE can always find a positive to everything! Even using a cane! I remember Elizabeth Taylor using one in a movie or Oscar show.

For many of us of a certain mumble, mumble age we get stuck in a routine that contributes to packing on excess weight. The less active, the more our metabolism slows down so the plot thickens...word play...punny.

Changing our Menu takes creativity and time. What I love about Spark Teams...no judgement just a constant reminder that others are going through the same drill. All my family and friends got sick and tired of me talking about weight management. At least here I can get feedback that keeps me on track.

Hi, my name is Star. I'm 5'1", 67 years old, obese with 135.5 pounds to lose, and have arthritis. I have 6 children and 6 grandchildren, divorced twice, and live with my sweetie and 2 cats.
I've never minded being short, just mind being fat.
As far as grocery stores go, I have to ride a cart, but also have a cane. It comes in sooooo handy for hooking things on the top shelf! emoticon

Thanks, MLOGAL for your hard work on the team! It will pay off. Our short person challenges are very real and it's great to have some support and ideas from those struggling with the same issues!

Cherie....very tough when a beloved pet passes away.

I give you props for working in a nursing home. Since I care for my 96 year old Mother in Law with dimentia the role seems so thankless most of the time.

Hello to some members who have returned to Petite Place. Realize you are not actually new but glad to see you on the list of active visitors.

I visited the weekly June new members class and note that over 12,000 people signed up. This compares to January 2 Class that had over 50,000! Amazes me that summer doesn't prompt people to take action on weight management...then end of the year everyone jumps on board?

Hoping our Team will get featured soonly. For the record I will request it again in October which is a popular time to join as well...you know...all those folks who tried "winging it" June through September?

Hi, I'm Cherie. I'm 49, RN, married mom of 3 mostly grown boys. I have 1 left at home. Recently our Shih-Tsu, Shelby passed away. I work part time evenings at a nursing home. I am always struggling like the majority of vertically challenged people to keep my BMI in the right range. I'm very very close... and I really want to do a last 10lbs boot camp for my age.....

Well Mellow, you already know me, but for everyone else, here's my info. I am 55 and Finance Director for a non-profit, which I really enjoy. I am divorced and in a long-term relationship with my DBF for almost 4 years now. I have no human kids, but two fur kids-cats Max and Spots. I live in Michigan and am a big fan of Detroit sports teams and Univ. of Michigan. My parents, sis and b-i-l, and niece and her husband, all live nearby and we are pretty close.

One of my biggest interest and activities is road cycling which I have been doing for a little over 4 years (and it is where I met my DBF!). My biggest challenge initially was getting the right size bike. I ended up getting probably the smallest-size of women's road bike that they make, but it is a really good bike and was worth the search.

Age is just a state of mind.

Married to Action Man and have 4 adult children with lots of grand-kids. 1 cat named Samson who is a Maine Coon who can be very annoying! Grounded with elder-care of my Mother-in-Law who is 96.
