Miss Robot...welcome to Petite Place and quite frankly you sound exactly like I did when I decided that change had to happen!

Everyone needs to figure out their numbers for adequate nutrition and best caloric intake. My former fitness trainer was 5 feet tall and 120 pounds and when I hugged her it was like embracing a tree truck as she was so highly muscled!

Right now I'm eating 1200 per day of food...not including adult beverage of a wine or light beer. But that is me. I weigh 120.8. That Spark photo of me was 122. I am wearing one of those squeeze body bands for that photo. No way around it because I had made the appointment with the photographer and figured I would be at goal. Was on a 99 day challenge and let me tell you...having the idea of spending $500 for a photo shoot was one major drive to lose weight.

Remember is all about nutrients, fiber, protein and fat consumption. The balance has to be healthy or you will lose muscle instead of adipose tissue. Not good.

Sign up for MyFitness Pal or Fitday or use the Spark version for food tracking. It is so much easier now than the old days of walking around with a paperback calorie counter and notepad for recording!

I was shocked to learn that my potassium was 1/2 what is required for a healthy body! Also my selenium was whimpy. I added a teaspoon of Brazil nuts (crushed) to my yogurt and now I am totally on target!

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie. I'm 5 feet tall with a very petite, small boned build. I have been 95-100 pounds my whole adult life, but then I gained 10 pounds in a matter of months. (And it's all in my belly/waist!) I think it's a combination of moving to a new job where I'm much more sedentary, metabolism slowing down at my age (almost 30), and unfortunately my battles with depression. Right now I just want to lose about 5 pounds, get more toned, and fit into my pants again. I also would like to get a lot stronger through weight training and exercise. I'm sick of being such a noodle! :) It can sometimes be hard to explain to people why I want to exercise and track my diet when I'm "so tiny", but I know you all will understand.

One question I have to start is, I'm curious how many calories you all eat? The calculators all say I would have to eat 900-1000 calories to lose weight and that seems impossible. Is it skewed weird for short people? Right now I am aiming for 1500 a day but with exercise.
