Hello my name is Beth, I am 48 years old, I have 5 grown children, 11 grandchildren, and 3 dogs. I am a practicing Roman Catholic and a wife for 26 years.
I join LA Fitness back in November and even hired a personal trainer but I haven't loss any weight. Yes I have gone to the gym everyday except the weekends( the reason for not going on the weekends is because I run around do all sort of stuff) until Covid shut them down.
I did sparks a few years ago and I did lose some weight but getting on the computer everyday became monotonous, and my teams really didn't give me any support. I am trying this again because I need to loose the weight and I am hoping with spark and the gym the weight will come off this time

My name is Frannie and I am a student data manager for a school district in the Chicago area. I have done sugar fasts before but always end up with my sugar addiction in full swing. This time of year is hardest because of the number of sweets brought into school by staff and parents. This year I am hoping it won't be as bad because we are e-learning and with the rate infections are increasing in Illinois I am thinking our target date of November 30th to move to hybrid learning is not going to happen. I really need help with sugar and hope this will be the boost that is needed.

Hi. I may be doing this all backwards. Blogged already and then saw where I needed to introduce myself. This is not the first time on Sparkpeople, but a first on this challenge. I look forward to rooting for all of you (and me) as we tame sweet temptations. (Gail)

I’m working on the sweet tooth by keeping sweets that call my name in the basement! That way I have to really think about if I want to go down the basement to get them especially if my hip back or calf are bothering me!!

FROMNDTOGA; I read labels and try to switch to low sugar foods or unsweetened foods. I just use one sweet n low on my oatmeal each day. The other sugar substitutes do not sit well and cause me issues. I have cut way down on my sweets and added sugar to my food log.

I just never give up trying!

Funny, isn't it, how spouses mirror each other - I crave sweets, my husband craves salty snacks. I also have discovered that when I have an alcoholic beverage, even just one glass of wine, my sweet tough screams and screams "feed me" until I (most times) give in! Then, I'm on the roller coaster of eating another sweet and another sweet until I'm almost sick - and even go beyond that feeling sometimes.
One other dieting frustration: many 'low fat' products add sugar/artificial sweetener to make up for the fat they took away! I've learned to read the 'low fat' labels very carefully!

In all things, I will trust in Him!

Welcome to the team! Never give up trying! Don't go cold turkey on stopping sugar, follow the instructions in week one. Headaches will subside as your sugar intake subsides.

Let me tell you the sad story of how I ended up here. After 16 months of walking the straight and narrow I had a Seattle Dark Chocolate Truffle With Popping Candy at a Christmas Party. So, to make a long story short two months later I have gained back 20 pounds of the 50 pounds I lost. Today I'm erasing the last two months and I will pick up where I left off because I know what works for me. It's eating three meals a day with no snacking in between and eliminating empty calories. It took me two months to gain 20 pounds and I'm planning on losing those 20 pounds by April 12th which is my 50th wedding anniversary. If anyone would like to be my accountability partner, that would really help me. Mary

Good morning; My eating is constant all day, everyday, I don't stop until I have finished - the bag, packet, bottle, punnet. I don't understand how someone can open a bar of chocolate and eat just one or two squares, I eat the whole bar and then are looking for another one.
I am an emotional eater and my life could be better.
So I am here to wrestle back some emotional and mouth action control. I often feel that my stomach doesn't need or want to eat but my mouth wants to taste or chew and my mind says do what you want it's not so bad.
So here goes the first day of the challenge and I am feeling positive, hopeful and ready to go.

Hello, I'm Elle and I'm a sugar addict. It has been 4 days since I last had a sugary delight! (this sounds like AA, or SA in this case) I have substituted sugar for stevia, which means I could have a very small selection of sweets in the week.

Apart from my addiction, I lack motivation and am hoping to regain that by joining this group. I look forward to this journey and hope to come out of it a changed person.

good luck and my the light shine on you, lightbulblady. I am managing to eliminate added sugar from my diet and feel better--and also less hungry--without it. Hope you don't have added trouble of husband interfering with your plans. I had difficulty cutting down until I got a lab result showing that I was pre-diabetic. Now my house mates are better about not leaving tempting sweets out on the counter or pushing me to eat them.

I have hobbies, most of which are me sitting. I need to have my hands busy or the sugar and anything edible goes in the mouth. My husband loves me this way about 250 lbs, but am told I don't look it. I am not happy with my size, it's time to change my eating habits forever. This will be a " rest of my life" change.

Hello, my name is Julie, I weigh 172 pounds, which is more than I weighed when I started SP a year and a half ago. Early in the program I decided I needed to focus on getting more healthy prior to dealing with weight loss, so have spent my time learning to get more sleep, getting into the habit of eating 5 servings of fruits/veggies per day, drinking lots of water, tracking consistently, and developing healthy menus and following them pretty well. I lost a little weight during this time and then the scales "stuck".

The weight gain occurred recently over the last few weeks due to several things. 1. my medication, which caused weight gain when I first took it, was increased. 2. I was under a lot of stress and didn't deal with it well, getting sloppy and ignoring my own needs and not taking good care of myself. 3. I ate more and more sweets. 4. I went through a spell when I couldn't exercise due to a medical condition and when I felt good enough to start back, I found that many of my favorite exercise videos had been discontinued. I lacked the interest and energy to look for new routines.

Today I started building an exercise program using premium exercises (not as good as the videos, but workable). Then I went to our church and helped collate the newsletter and played bridge, during which time I ate enough sweets to feel positively ill by the time I left. Then after a supper of mainly protein, I joined this challenge. I gave up sugar once before and felt very healthy during that time--of course I was a lot younger then. Now I will do it again.

Hello: I'm currently at 193 lbs at 5'5". I have Type 2 diabetes. I've been a sugar-holic all my life, I think. Can sugar cravings be hereditary? My Dad was one of those people who asked before dinner "what's for dessert?"

My worst temptations are Candy Corn (and here comes Halloween) and any salt/sweet combination. Get thee away, thou foul salted caramel! emoticon I don't drink regular or diet sodas; I've been drinking LaCroix soda and similar if I want fizz.

According to the quiz, I'm a situational eater. We recently came back from our first cruise, and I lost 2 pounds on vacation. Meals in the dining room were gorgeous, tasty and teeny. I always had dessert, and those were teeny, too, and very fancy. Of course you could go to the Lido deck and pig out all day, but we didn't. I don't think there's a restaurant in ND that serves comparable food. We also didn't have a pantry full of snacks in our state room.
Now we're home, and buying groceries.

I've resisted looking into this situation, as I don't want to give up my sweets. I've always thought everything in moderation, but when it comes to sweets, I can lose control.

Good day...My name is Mary l'm back to continue my journey to healthy living life style. So on July 15, 2018 at 11 a.m.. My stats are: weight-210.4, BMI-36.3, Fat-52.9, muscle-20.3, RM-1650, Body Age 74 (I am 55 years old), Viseral Fat-13. Hello Everyone, I am Mickey, I had been with Sparkpeople back in 2007 and am back again to re-loose the weight I had re-gained back. I read "Jon's" story and was inspired to stop sugar. I had not done this the last time I was on Spark. Today, I gave up sweet tea, no sugar in my morning cup of tea, nor will there be sugar in any glass of tea I have from here on out. I am NOT a soda pop drinker, no problem there. The last time I was on Spark, I did switch to artificial sweeteners, figured out I was getting sick from using them, so stopped and went back to granulated sugar or honey.

Hi,
I'm Karen and I am a "chocoholic"! I don't have just one. I spent about 10 minutes walking around and around the bakery at the store. Gave in and bought chocolate brownies, large ones. I should have walked away but I gave in to my cravings. Got home and ate two.

I still feel lousy from the sugar high/low. I've done the Sweet Tooth Challenge 4 times!

This is my last addiction I need to control!

Hi Everyone
My name is Kate. I have intense sugar cravings and usually feel compelled to give into them. I'm trying to break the cycle. I've lost a lot of weight, but have recently gained a little back. I feel terrible when I eat sugar, but can't seem to stop. The first survey was really enlightening and I look forward to learning more tools to fight back against the cravings!

Hi everyone
This is my first doing this. I hope it will help all of us. I joined this challenge because I'm stuck at 185 and can"t seem to move pass it so I decided that I need to examine why I'm stuck. First is the sweet thing, next is the bread thing,

Hi everyone, nice to "meet" you all. I'm a massive sugar addict and it's really time I do something about it. I find it really hard to control my sweet cravings and often over-indulge and I'm fed up of the awful feelings I have afterwards. Hoping this challenge will help me start to kick the habit. Good luck everyone! :)

ok so this is my first time although I have been a member for years.. I am a sugar addict and need help. When I was young no one told me how bad it was for my health. My gram always had cookies or candy or some kind of sugary treat around. Never a day with out it in my diet. As the years went by still no idea how bad it was for me, always hearing you'll gain weight but I didn't believe them, I was thin all through childhood while eating it everyday. About 9 years ago I finally told myself I needed to do something with my weight and joined Weight Watchers, they made me realize what and how much I was eating. Sugary treats being for the most part my problem as well as bread and other refined carbohydrates. I go though binges of eating sugary treats but it's usually only for 3 days then my cravings are out of control and I give in. I need to quit this cycle

I am ChaCha. My battle is mostly with myself. I love cooking and creating in the kitchen so that in itself is a problem. I am always eating, but usually eating fresh veggies for the most part. My problem is that because I try to maintain such a clean diet I find myself binging on candies and chips etc and I cannot just eat one bite, I have this weird compulsion to eat the entire box/bag. It has come to a point where I mostly buy single serve anything if I buy it at all. I just wish plain tortilla chips came in small bags, sigh.

In the last year I have kicked my coffee habits butt! Instead of putting flavored creamer in, I now brew it with spices of cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and sometimes raw chocolate to give it a nice flavor without the sugar or calories. I know my issues I just have issues keeping control of them.

Hi everyone! This isn't my first challenge but it will hopefully be the one I take the most seriously. I was put on a new medication at the end of last summer and since then I have gained 15-20 lbs depending on the day. I decided to drop the medication because I didn't think the "benefits" were worth the struggles I am dealing with now with my weight. I have never gained this much weight before unless I was pregnant so to me it is a nightmare. I am hoping this challenge will help me to ditch all the processed food I got so used to eating and remove any sugar cravings I have so I can find different ways to be satisfied without all the extra junk I've grown accustomed to.

I am also doing this as my first spark challenge. I love sugar and can't control myself when it's offered to me. I have cut soda, but would like to cut additional processed sugar. I am terrified though because of how much I rely on it.

Hi guys! I'm doing this as my first challenge on Sparkpeople. I can mostly control my sweet cravings, but I can't resist if other people bring donuts or cookies. I would like to eliminate soda and get used to tea and coffee without sugar. Good luck every1!

Good morning all
I love chocolates with nuts but any kind will do. I also am diabetic and a closet eater. I look like my eating is under control but when alone I am eating. But I am hoping this challenge will help.

hey guys I was reading all your messages and although I feel your pain it made me realize we are not alone Look at how many of us have this issue. I really dont want to do it but I think if I stick it out I might find the answer I'm looking for. How to beat it. From listening to all of you and trying all the things I can. I know when I quite smoking cold turkey I don"t want a cig so maybe if I go cold turkey with sugar it will be the same.

Well....I'm trying again! I admit I want to do this but a part of me really does want that sugar...at all costs! that makes me feel really guilty. I'm having some severe exhaustion issues and my blood tests show nothing wrong! So I'm trying to see if this is the problem.

I'm starting over AGAIN!! I have a real problem with sweets, especially chocolate, when I start on it I can't stop....mostly when I'm tired I use it to keep going, only after a short burst, I get very tired. But like they say about the definition of insanity " I do it all over again expecting results that I know will not satisfy" so yes I'm insane over a substance that does not work but makes me fat and miserable!

I need help to beat this. I am trusting the Lord too, but I have to work on this myself as well. I am a senior and really hurting my health as well. I am determined to beat this thing and really scared for what I'm doing for my health. HELP!! I'M A CHOCOLATE JUNKIE! I use sweets like medication to calm my emotions and other things as well. Chocolate is my drug of choice!!

I'm hopeful with sparkpeople support that I can lose weight and get healthier.

Hi everybody. I just joined this group and am a little nervous. I don't want to fail this challenge, but I know how strong my sugar cravings can be at times and I go after it at all cost. Especially, those special times of the month. However, there has been times that I've done great and chose to have fruit instead of sugary snacks but it didn't last long. After I get that first bite of sugar it's all over.

The worst part of this is that I have a personal trainer I go to 3 times a week. I've been going for a over a month now and have only lost 7 pounds to date. So I am willing to accept any advice and suggestions of how to beat this addiction. Thank you in advance for your help!

I'm learning to be patient with this journey and it's fluctuations...

Hi everybody! I'm Nancy, I've been Sparking almost 5 years.
I've never really monitored my sugar intake. I don't go overboard, but know there's hidden sugars that I want to be more aware of.
SparkCoach actually pointed me here from today's program. So here I am!
Happy Thanksgiving!

hi everybody, yes I admit I have a sugar thing at times. More when I'm stressed & pass the candy or chips section at the grocery store & give in to my inner voice telling me its o.k. you deserve this. I will journal or blog on this and am very glad I found site and am hopeful for all of us here. At least we admit it, so go us!!

Hi - I am Pam and I'm a sugar addict. I was on a restricted diet and lost 60lbs. Was feeling great and enjoyed the benefits, but fell from grace. I went on a maintenance plan and just plain fell off that. I added wheat back in my diet, as well as sweets and it's terrible!!! I hope to find support and guidance from my fellow addicts here. Thanks for listening!

I am Jo Ann and I am here to learn more about resisting sugar cravings. I am at an impasse and can not seem to get below 140. I have been working on this for quite some time. My sugar cravings are not real bad but when I am around other people eating sweets, it is hard not to reach out and grab a treat (or 2, or 3, etc.). I am sure I will gain some insight that will help me on this. emoticon

Hi, I am Rita and I have a severe sugar addiction. Doing my calorie tracker from this morning up to lunch I have found that not only did I surpass my allowable calorie intake, but It was mostly comprised of carbs. Hopefully I can learn some great techniques to overcome this disorder.

Hello all.I am KB. I am a lover of all things sweet. Yes I guess that makes me a sugar addict. Wow. What a wake-up call to say that and see that in writing. I guess I have been in denial...except the excess weight on my body tells the whole story. So I accept this challenge and will give it my all! emoticon

Hi all. I have a sugar PROBLEM. head it since I was in high school and it has only gotten worse over the years. I have successfully cut out all sugar, with the exception of honey and naturally occurring sugars in fruits and vegetables, for 6 months. I've been back on it for 6 months and I feel awful. I gained weight, had health issues, and feel into depression. I want to try to cut out the sugar again but am having trouble holding myself accountable. So here we are I guess.

I just joined this group today. Sugar is my way of eating my feelings and I eat my feelings Often. I definitely need to detox myself safely and learn myself that I don't have to consume sweet treats until there all gone. I'd love to establish and maintain the ability to have a taste and save some for later as well as to learn not to Seek SUGAR out when I'm having a moment. Another downfall regarding my sugar intake is grapes in a glass also known as WINE. The sweetest of course is Moscato or a Sweet Reisling. All in a nutshell is A girl needs help kicking the Sweetz!

I just joined this board today, but stopped eating sweets 4 days ago. I have no control with sweets, thinking about them all the time. I hope, with God's help, I can control them this time. Where do you get those cute markers for your goal?

Hi, I'm Lynne and sweets and sugar cravings are really bad for me lately. Don't know if its because I am getting close to 40(turning 39 in a few months) or what . So far I have made a little progress by limiting my sweet intake to holidays and weekends which if I can I try and make my own using stevia or another healthier alternative to sugar because staying away completely is too hard.

I am Betsy and I have the BIGGEST SWEET TOOTH there ever could BE! emoticon
For example~ once when I had a trainer when I was working out @ at a gym 4x/wk.,she told me that I could have a day off from watching what I eat and called it my 'Saturday' where you eat what YOU WANT! So ,ALL I ATE WAS...SUGAR!!!!
She seemed INCREDULOUS that sugar was all I would eat ,not protein emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon or fruits emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon ,etc.
I told her YOU SAID I COULD EAT what I WANT !!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Anyway, I did get rid of her as my trainer and only went for 1x/wk with a NEW TRAINER+ I got on SP {this was 6 yrs ago} and within 4 1/2 MOS., I LOST the wt.!!!!!
BUT,as I started Homeschooling with my DS,I could NOT handle BOTH SP + Homeschooling ,so, I dropped SP and my SWEET TOOTH CAME BACK with a VENGEANCE ~AND WE moved to TN~ where we EAT DINNER AND DESSERT!!!! So, I found a way to do HOMESCHOOLING +SP while on Christmas break last yr. SO FAR~ 11 lbs. GONE emoticon and I have signed up for THE 5% SPRING CHALLENGE!!!
I am VERY SLOWLY learning to cut the sweets a little at a time! emoticon

I am Leann and I have a horrible sweet tooth that keeps sabotaging my efforts to lose weight and get healthy. I am an emotional eater and praying I can find a way to manage these obstacles. I started out January with tons of motivation and lost 13 pounds. Then we got invited to a birthday dinner and my diet got blown to bits. I've been struggling the past two weeks and nothing satisfies me. If I dont have sweet treats, I will go to the store and buy something. I am totally out of control where sweets are concerned. Its sickening!!! emoticon

Greetings to all!
Going to the beach on March 20th to marry my love of 12 years. It will just be the two of us - but - I want to look absolutely beautiful. Need to lose weight to fit in the dress! Also need to tone up my arms. All of this can be done in a month and 1/2 . . . . right??? lol.

I have faith that it will be if I can get past this sugar thing. I am happy to have found others on a similar journey. Thanks in advance for the support!

Hello! My name is Judy and I am ready to become healthier. Diabetes runs in both sides of my family. My brother who is one year younger than I am passed away due to complications from diabetes two weeks before his 52nd birthday.

Years ago I heard this scripture used for a Christian weight loss group. "He must INCREASE and I must DECREASE." This is what I need to do.

He must increase and I must decrease.

Hello, my name is Pam and I struggle with eating too much sweets in my diet, and am getting serious this year to eliminating sugar at least for a few weeks to get rid of my cravings for sugary foods. God is in control and I am turning my reigns over to Him, and giving me the desire and self-control I need to conquer these cravings for food. I am excited to be on this healthy journey and to get support from members here.

Good Morning Everyone!

My name is Leanne and I have been at this lifestyle change for many years and getting more successful everyday. I have been here (in this Sweet Tooth Issue) many times. I have gained more knowledge and become more willing to listen to my body however, i am not perfect. With all that being said -- one of my major challenges is soda, but more accurately PEPSI! So that leads me to this challenge and that is to once again eliminate soda from my lifestyle. I just joined this group yesterday, but have been off it for almost a week, but thought doing this challenge would reinforce my efforts. Have a blessed STC Day!
