Hi I'm Margaret I'm here to lose alot of weight. Seeing it as a new journey for the 2nd half of my life. I'm 43.. My goal is to lose 100 in 2 years (or sooner) . I don't have any support with my friends and family so I'd love to have some buddies from the site.

I gained my weight due to using food as a method to feel better. I have a disease that is really painful and has drastically reduced my mobility and from taking medical steriods. So.. basically bad food and no exercise.. so I'm going to try to exercise on my good days and stop eating junk food...

HI everyone, my name is Lia and after all this time, I've finally decided to introduce myself. I used to walk an average of 3 miles a day, ate healthy, felt great about myself and was a few pounds away from a healthy weight. And then stuff happened which caused me to put my needs on the back burner while tending to 'other stuff'. Well that was over 2 years ago. The 'other stuff' is still here and I'm 50 lbs heavier. I won't stay on the back burner any longer. Time to take care and work on me again. Best wishes everyone!

I have always had problems with my weight since I was a little kid. I have avoided fad diets and always have tried to eat healthy most of the time, but I have tended to consume more calories than I burn, plus I like nachos and red wine way too much! I also have health challenges - have battled four different kinds of cancer over the last 13 years and many surgeries. Medications with adverse side affects have not helped, either.

I decided that tracking my calories and exercise would help me to get a handle on managing my weight, so I joined Spark on May 3rd. I was off to a great start then I found out that I needed gynecological surgery, which was performed on May 19th. I am bound and determined to not let this bump in the road interfere with my plan to go from 161 lbs. to 148 lbs. by August 2nd! I am on target and am down to 155 lbs. at this point, but my bloated post-surgical abdomen is driving me crazy; I can only fit into stretchy clothes.
:-( It is hard to be patient, but I am watching my calories and walking (which is the only approved aerobic exercise I can do for awhile). I hope this site helps me to stay on track!

Hi all, I'm Lee Ann from the Dallas-area suburbs and this is not my first time on Sparkpeople, and it probably won't be my last. Four years ago I lost 70 pounds using Sparkpeople, got too happy with myself and gained half of it back.

When I'm not tracking calories or fitness minutes, I work full time behind a computer as a graphic designer. I am most proud of my two adult children who have never had (and hopefully never will) the lifelong struggle I have had controlling my weight.

The only male out of the litter, he passed this year. My pets have always given me so much comfort and love, when one of them passes it always breaks my heart but I go out and do it again...fall in love and bring the critter home.

Hi all, my name is Kathy, I was on sparks in 2008, came here to lose weight and get my blood pressure under control. That happened but then I found out I have a chronic illness, hid my head in the sand for a few years, now I am back to learn healthy habits, to help control the downhill run my body is on.

For all who are newbies to Sparkpeople, this is an excellent program, all one needs to do is follow it and read all the articles, learn the exercises, food tips and hopefully find a partner to share victories with!

I hope to see you all around the boards and wish you all great success here.

I'm 33, single, and I run a Seafood department for a major retail grocery chain. I've struggled with my weight since probably 3rd or 4th grade. I'm the definition of a yo-yo dieter, but I'm working hard to make healthy lifestyle changes and better choices. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Greetings! I'm 49. My husband of 29 years and I have 4 children. I have struggled with weight all my life but when I have to go buy size 14 it's always the place where I decide enough is enough. I am there again.

In 2008 I decided to change my life and joined a gym. In 6 months time I reached my goal weight and become a fitness instructor. I taught 7 classes a week and ate clean. Then one day in the middle of a squat track the one muscle group I had been ignoring collapsed. I went from fit to couch potato because I hadn't been doing Kiegle exercises. (sp?) I had a partial hysterectomy and unless I do what it takes to strengthen this muscle group being physically active will be a part of the past.

I know what to do and what to eat, I've taught it for years.... Just needing motivation and someone to share it with.

I love horses! It is a love I didn't know I had until recently. I was given a horse for my birthday last year by a neighbor that I enjoy riding with. I have been given 3 more!! I am learning to train them to be safer so my family can enjoy them too. Thankfully they are racking horses so the ride is smooth and no trotting!

I post my training as tennis for exercise because it is the same motions but instead a little ball I'm chasing a thousand pound mass off muscle. Riding them will also count and then I will be adding toning and stretching exercise to round it out.

Hi I am Jacqui, a 38 year old stay at home mum to four children, 3 boys and 1 girl ranging from 3 up to 11 years old. I am obese and hate the way I look. Before having children I was very slim and I have lost all my self confidence. I struggle with binge eating, boredom eating and emotional eating.

I realise I need to reeducate myself about healthy eating because I know I am not healthy, I have high blood pressure and I am frightened I am risking my life with my eating habits

Betty from Chicago here. I found Spark while surfin' the web trying to decide what would be best way to get rid of extra weight. Everything costs so much $. Then I read a blog "5 reasons why sparkpeople sucks" about this site - don't get upset this is a great blog about why this site is outstanding. So I checked it out and thought for me it might just work. I'm very visual and need stuff in my face, I find the tracking very good for food, better than my UP Move tracker (still use this for steps and sleep). Im hoping with my new buddies I'll get to my goal weight eventually. Being over 60 makes the weight drop off much slower and probably why some days I just say "to hell with it". Fingers crossed this time it will work.

Plan on adding everyone with a public profile! I thrive on support. I'm Lindsey, 29 (almost 30), obese, been on Spark before but have fallen off the wagon for various reasons. Hoping to stick with it this time. I deal with depression which has a lot to do with my weight but hoping to conquer that, too. I love Marvel (obviously), my cat Cooper, movies, books, most sports, etc.

Hi everyone. I'm Beth, a 53 year old woman with 100+ pounds to lose. I have to lose as much as I should weigh. Holy crap that is a daunting thought. I was on Spark People before, lost about 30 pounds and let my head get in the wrong space. I've gained back those 30 pounds but I also think I gained a little wisdom with that failure. I'm now ready to make the head changes necessary to make the health and weight changes I need to make. Hi There! I'm Sara. I am 31, married with two young boys (8&6) and currently live in the Cadiz province in Spain. I have lost my motivation somewhere along the path. My goal here on spark people is to find it again! I have about 25+ pounds to lose. My father's family has a lot of diabetes and my mother's family has high blood pressure and heart disease. I'm afraid if I don't get a hold of myself now, I'm going to fall into these rather gloomy genetic destinies.

So I'm hoping we can all rally together and motivate each other along this journey we walk (or run, or bicycle). Come on, Let's do this!

I am Kim - and I am a full-time worker - at the office and at home :)

I am looking for a great support team to help keep me motivated and on track. I have been successful in the past to lose weight - but to keep it off is another thing.

I enjoy running and have had to take off for four weeks - so I am easing back into it along with more of my workouts. My biggest challenge is nighttime eating - I honestly think all the calories I consume when I get home SHOULD NOT count - but alas - I don't think it is working - lol! I was married in 2012 - and in that time I have gained almost 15-20 pounds - depending on my starting weight of when I met him or my wedding day.

I would like to lose 15 pounds for sure, but 20 would be ideal at a two pound per week weight loss with realistic diet and exercise goals.

I have a half marathon I have signed up for in November and the extra weight is really hard to run with - so every pound lost is lighter on my poor feet and joints.

Anyway - hello!
