Hi, I'm not new to SP and have taken the Fit & Fiber Wellness Challenge soooo many times because I struggle with getting enough fiber in my diet. I'm tracking my meals and that seems to help as I can track my macros and see what I need to increase or decrease.

HELLO! I would like to become a part of this team. I am not new to Spark People, I am the leader of the Small Goals Commitment Team.
I just had back surgery 3 weeks ago and in order to do that I had to clear a Cardiology Test.
I was shocked to find that they found a 4.2cm Aortic Aneurysm in my Ascending Aorta. I have to go back in 6 months for another CT to see if it is growing.
They gave me the DASH diet to follow. I am just now working on figuring out what I can and shouldn't eat. I know I don't get enough fiber so I joined the Challenge today. I really need to clean up my eating, my hubby loves all kinds of junk food and he can eat them without gaining weight. I am hoping it won't be too long until I can get active again. I just started PT this week so I have a long road ahead of me.
Your team looks like it is pretty active and I really need your help!

Hi There - Very new here and a good part of it is for hubby because he has had several procedures and the results are his surgeon telling him that he needs more fibre in his diet. I know that if he does, boy, do I ever and I am really bad at adding fiber rich foods or changing up what I eat very much.

I usually just eat what I always have which is very little veggies and no fruit to speak of just in smaller portions. I need to add a healthier selection so that is what I plan on doing.

I take Benefiber daily. I thought Metamucil was a good idea, but the doctor said it was high in sugar and not as beneficial as Benefiber. A couple of years ago I had to double up the daily dosage. For the most part it helps with my IBS.

If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.

This is Day 2 for me. I joined this challenge because I am very much lacking in the amount of fiber I get, even though I eat a ton of vegetables. My husband prefers white bread products, but I have decided, and told him that I am going to start buying whole wheat for me. I don't eat a lot of bread so what I do eat, I want to take advantage of getting extra fiber. Plus, I prefer wheat bread and rolls, etc.

Kristine from southern Louisiana here. Just started the challenge. I use the SP tracker for nutrition (and fitness) and it helps me hit my numbers daily:) I am competitive with myself...lol. So getting it right is important. P.S. I love getting Spark Points, too.

My third time doing this challenge. It helps get me back on track. I am always amazed at how difficult I find it to get the recommended fiber! I eat lots of fruits and veggies and whole grains. But when I do the challenge I find ways to sneak in more, it seems. Makes me more conscious of what I'm doing in that regard!

I joined SP about 5 months ago and have tracked food every day except for the 11 days that I was out of town. I had always thought that I ate a lot of fiber, but my daily results show I am below or near the bottom of the fiber recommendation.

Hello! I have recently started trying to get more fiber everyday. I went on a vacation right after starting it and didn't try my best to keep up with it. Now I decided to join this challenge in hopes that it will give the boost and information I need to make fiber a daily routine.

Hi Everyone!
I just started SP 5 days ago. For the last 7 months I've cut out 32oz of soda, started drinking 8-10 cups of water, walk/run 3 to 6 miles a day (on off days I do fe fit videos. And I've changed my eating habits. I haven't lost a single pound. My clothes fit no differently. It's discouraging but I don't want to quit. I'm hoping the site will give me a visual of where I am going wrong.

I was in this group a few months a go. I do use metamucil and some times their fiber bars as well. I get a lot of fiber from fruits and vegetables. I find what I have to do is to plan my menu for 4 days at a time and when I do this I can immediately change it for fiber, fats, protein, carbs at the correct amount i need ahead of time. Every 2 days I add another 4 days and shop from it weekly. I do not prepare food for a week, do not have the room for it. I have not tracked lately but see a dietitian in 2 weeks and heart healthy 45 minute event at a local pharmacy in 3 weeks. After I finish planning one day, Ahead of time I immediately change what ever is wrong for my diet including vitamins and minerals I have needed to add even though I am reasonably healthy. When I do this I know I will plan my fiber correctly.

Hello My screen name is ENNOVAL1967 aka LaVonne in Upper Peninsula (Michigan). Eating healthier was no longer an option after seeing the result for my doctor. Doc said either eat/exercise better or go on cholesterol meds. I was working on eating healthier but I was just making excuses to start tomorrow. Tomorrow is here, the doctor was blunt and to the point. I am very thankful the doc kick me in the butt.

Nancy here in FL - not missing NJ except for family and summer veggies - Tomatoes to be exact. Back on SP after getting the dreaded info from Dr that I am diabetic. Committed to getting off meds and managing it with healthy weight and exercise but as always - struggle with FIBER. I even think the meds are creating a stronger need to get my fiber control.

Trying to understand good carbs along with choosing fiber is still a little challenging but I will do this. Besides - I'm a Sparkpoint addict - I'll want that extra 20 points today for getting enough in. emoticon

Hi, I am Della and I have been on this new journey for a year and have lost 30 pounds. I know that I can do better and I am looking for healthy ways to do so. When I saw this challenge I decided that was my next step adding more fiber. Step one was walking more, second step was sodium under 1,000,third, keeping track of calories, and now step four is fiber,,, I did get some fruit and fiber bars and my cereal has a good amount of fiber so I just need to really focus on that.
Thanks for any and all help

Just joined this challenge since I know I definitely need much more fiber in my diet. I am also slipping in the water consumption category (which has always been a difficult one for me). My name is Susan. I have been on SparkPeople for 2+ years and have managed to lose 20 pounds. Lately I've been slipping (perhaps sliding would be a more accurate term) back into unhealthy eating habits, gorging on chocolate and sweets, and watching the numbers on the scale climb upward instead of down. Have to get back in the game and fast.

Hello my name is Gracie. I have been on SP for 63 days now and noticed that I am not even close to eating enough fiber. So I am hoping this challenge will help me pick better foods to meet the fiber goals each day. I am learning so much on SP and hope to learn more. I am on my way to better habits for sure and water was a huge hurdle for me as I used to hate it. Now I am feeling so much better since getting 8 or more glasses in each day. Exercise comes and goes, but work is really active so it is hard for me to be motivated after a long day of activity. But on my days off I usually push myself to get out and do more and it seems to be working. I think this challenge is going to be a good one for me. I may have to repeat days though just to make sure I get it! lol Have a great journey everyone!

Hi, my name is Ruth. I had a heart scare the 1st of February, so I'm looking for support to get back on track after not feeling right for so long. I also have a spasmatic colon issue so I've always been good about getting my fiber in w/o having to take supplements or Metamucil, but lately I've been feeling sorry for myself with all my health issues. NO MORE! Time to take care of me BECAUSE of my health issues. No more excuses.

I'm doing this challenge a second time. It really helped me during and for awhile after but I haven't been paying attention lately. I feel so much better when I get the correct amount of fiber and end up eating so much healthier.

I just joined the challenge! I hope to increase my fiber daily. I know a lot about high fiber foods but really need to get these implemented.

hi hello I have joined the challenge. I did not realize how important fiber is to health, simply put it is like a SOS pad to the inside of our intestines to scrub and rid our bodies of so many toxins that if left will cause other health problems which I am starting to experience. And I am learning that it helps with weight loss as well. So I am excited to be here to learn more and most of all to increase my fiber in-take on a regular and consistent basis. I am looking forward to weight loss and good news at my next doctors appointment.

Nothing beats a failure but a "Try"!

Hi Everyone> I'm Dee. I started 2015 with a BANG!! I was losing and walking. Then once again "life happened" and I regained. So I am once again committing myself to eating better and feel I need a kick start with an active team and healthy eating. I am "In It To Win It"!

Hi Everyone, I had to enroll in a challenge as part of a college course requirement and thought this one looked interesting. I have put on a lot of weight since turning 50 this past summer, as well as going through surgical menopause after having a hysterectomy last December. I am hoping that by incorporating more fiber in my diet, it will jumpstart my weight loss and give me more energy. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

I'm hoping this challenge will help me focus on getting all the necessary fibre. I have to reduce my cholesterol and in the process lose weight. It's going to be a long process, with with team support I can be successful.

Hi. My name is Laura and I started on SP 2 months ago. I found out about SP while I was reading a magazine article about a person who lost a lot of weight. I had been to my doctor and he said that he was going to have a follow up appointment in 3 months and because my lab work had not been good, he was going to give me this time to see what I could do before adding another medication. I have diabetes and high blood pressure, etc. To do this fiber challenge, I had to start tracking my food which I had started to do only one or two days prior. Today I had only 24 g of fiber and was within my calorie goal. So I thought I would "taste test" the baked beans I was making. I did (perhaps a little too much), but I ended up with 31 g. of fiber and was now over my calorie count. :( I need to learn what low calorie foods are fiber rich.
Hopefully, I will do better as I continue to track.

The one thing I have discovered is that I need to increase my fiber after looking over the food tracker for the past month.
So far because I've made it a priority, I am doing well.

I just joined this evening, hopefully a shopping list will be included if there are things I do not usually have or at least a substitution list. :-)

How I feel is more important than what I weigh! How my clothes fit is beginning to matter more!!

Hi Everyone! Just started this challenge a few days ago and hope to develop better habits with regard to feeling satisfied with my meals. I have gradually been 'upping' my fiber in the recent past and find it helpful but want to go to the next level with it.

Hi, my name is Sandy. I have been with sparkpeople for several years. I lost 45 pounds originally and kept it off for a long time. Several years, in fact. But then it started to slowly creep back and when life happened, I gained the rest back. I ended up within a couple of pounds of my heaviest weight ever. Now I am slowly working on losing it again. It is taking longer this time. But I am determined! I am on day 2 of this challenge and I'm looking forward to making some positive changes in my weight and overall health.

Too many carbs in the Spark meal plans for me. Spikes my blood sugar.

Leone, I found that if I eat the way I usually do, I only get 12 to 15 g of fiber per day, but if I can follow the SparkPeople suggested menus each day I can get the amount of fiber suggested.
