I am scared of floppy skin too, but im more scared of heart problems... Guess i'll just be a happy, floppy gal. lol

Seriously though, i've heard that exercise goes a long way in preventing this problem.

This is a big fear for me as well- I remember several years ago meeting a young woman who had lost over 100 pounds and while she looked fantastic, there was noticeable sagging skin on her upper arms and around her waist.

I've finally just accepted that I may or may not have an excess skin problem, and that excess skin is healthier and easier to camouflage that an excess 120 pounds!!

I'm trying to combat the issue with water, lotion, and strength training. At the end of the day, I think genetics plays a big part- some people have loose skin, and some people don't.

I'm not doubting at all, but can someone please help me understand how strength training helps?

I was under the impression that the drastic weight loss that bariatric surgery provides is the reason for such loose skin. I guess I haven't really thought about the fact that I could be dealing with it as well!

After a shower, slather yourself in some concentrated coco butter! It's good stuff!

Moisturize your skin liberally and make sure to get a good daily dose of essential fatty acids. I've read that we should have 2 Tbsp of ground flax seed, 2 Tbsp of raw pumpkin seeds, 2 tsp sesame seeds, and 2 tsp raw sunflower seeds a day to help keep skin elastic while losing weight. Seems to have worked well for those I know who have tried it. I don't always do it because of the high calorie content of the seeds but plan to get better at this. It also seems to help your skin look younger.

Every journey begins with a single step. Make sure it's one in the direction you want to go.

Only you can make your life what you want it to be.

One of my fears about losing a tremendous amount of weight is floppy skin. I have a friend who lost about as much weight as I would like to, however, she did it with bariatric surgery. She has already spent about $15,000 on reconstructive surgery for excess skin.

I know that I'm unlikely to have such a severe problem as she did, as I will be losing weight more slowly, but I'm still interested in any suggestions anyone has. I think the best things to do are to a) eat nutritiously b) exercise regularly c) drink lots of water. Is there anything I need to add to that list?
