Bursitis, tendonitis and plantar fasciitis are the potential diagnoses. PF sounds most likely because a hallmark of that is that it is worse after sitting for any length of time and in the morning after sleeping.

PF does get better with weight loss, but it can also do one of those worse before it gets better things, because you are exercising (more stress) while you are heavier to get lighter.

Docs usually start with NSAIDs and custom orthotics for treatment, but that varies case to case.

Thanks for the advice everyone!! emoticon I did tons of research online as I don't have health insurance. It could be either so I have been doing stretches that were recommended and they have been helping. Thanks again!!

It could also be a heel spur and/or a calcium deposit. I got mad one time and went for a 7 mile walk to cool off. I wound up with heel pain that lasted a YEAR!

this page lets you do everything except update your current weight. It makes no sense. I can never remember how to do it.

Sounds like plantar facsiitis to me as well. I had it several years ago and unfortunately, it took months to resolve. Anti-inflammatories and regularly stretching the achilles tendon helped. I also had a gel heel lift in my shoes. You're right to not go barefoot. I believe that aggravates the condition.

it could be plantar fasciatis - and as a sufferer - yes weight loss helps

I used to roll my foot over a frozen water bottle - it helped relieve the inflammation and stopped feet from aching

my feet are much better now, but I still wiggle them before I get up

On my second week of walking!! emoticon When I get home and take my shoes off and sit for any period of time, my right heel hurts when I get up and walk. I love to go barefoot and now I keep my tennis shoes on all day to alleviate the pain. emoticon Anybody have this same issue? If so will it resolve after a while or when I drop more weight?
Thanks,
Elizabeth emoticon
