Mary Alice, I would sure consider that many steps exercise!

Quiet day here, our town already had trick-or-treat, which is good, because it's raining buckets. We never have any kids anyway out here in the country. I never get to see the cute little kids dressed up anymore!

Hard to believe tomorrow is first day of November!!

I normally get between 10,000 and 14,000 steps at work, so that was a little high. The tracker only reconizes 10 continues minutes of exercise. Most of mine is 5 minutes, stop and 5 more min.

Wow, MaryAlice, that is lots of steps not to be exercise!!! I would definitely call it exercise though!!

Sure hope little Patience's eye gets better with the medication. Zoey hates anyone touching her feet or eyes and definitely don't try to clean her teeth!!! She needs a bath too but will wait till we get back to Fl. next week since it will be much warmer.

I don't really miss having the kids coming by but did love to see their costumes!!

Morning, I checked to see if I could get to work this morning. Fraid so. I got home last night so sick and sore, no way I could exercise when I couldn't breath. So my tracker says i got well over 15,000 steps yesterday and no exercise.

Poor little Patience nothing worse than trying to do things to dogs faces, reminds me of trying to do things with Brunos feet, he hates it. Maggs fights me every night when I have to make her take her Seretide puffer.

Just had a couple of young girls with their Mum come around for Halloween, just as well Steven had some mini Peanut Butter cups and a couple of Milky Way bars, they went to so much trouble with their costumes.

Saw pictures on the news of the storm that's supposed to headed this way, hope we only get rain, not hail. At least, it's a fast mover, and will soon be over.

Everyone getting their dogs bathed is putting me on a guilt trip; it's time to bite the bullet, and do the deed. emoticon

Nellie, I hope Patience eye heals quickly, sounds like my Jake; he doesn't care for anyone working on his face, or teeth either.

I gave my little Patience a bath this evening since she had been rubbing her right eye, and sure enough it is inflamed. I got my son Jason to hold her while I put the medicine the vet prescribed for this problem in. In spite of being very small, she fights having anything done with her face, so it was quite a job.

I'm late getting on as I've been gone off and on all day! Walked Zoey this morning and visited with some neighbors here on the mountain, then had lunch, then went for a much needed pedicure then went to dinner with friends!
Now I need to get busy with knitting!!!!

Kay glad your Dad is better.

Sophie sounds like my Honeybear, she use to find any and everything to get into and always needed a bath at least once a week!!!!

Hopefully we won't have any kids around tomorrow night as I don't have any candy! We never have had any here in the mountains as it is very dark!!!!

The weather is very nice and mild here in Central Florida. Nice to have Autumn here, I can't believe how early I am on Christmas Shopping !! A little at a time, I buy gifts but not enough to bust the bank.

Gave Sophie her weekly bath, I never thought it would be so often but she seems to find the sand and burrs outside.

Well have a Blessed Day.

What a shame they are so tight with the prescriptions Kay, I know a lot of people use them for things that they aren't needed for, but thank goodness Stevens cardiologist and family doctor have the good sense to know I won't give them to him for nothing.

I'm hoping nobody comes around for Halloween this year I don't really like the idea of kids knocking on strangers doors. It's not really celebrated here, but the supermarkets are pushing it further and further each year.

Beautiful day here today, I spent most of it outside in the garden moving, repotting and generally cleaning up all the plants

My dad seems better today, so I hope we caught his infection in time. He had such a rough winter last year; I would hate to have another one like it, because I'm afraid it will result in a change that he will not like, such as assisted living or nursing home. Jules, I wish I could keep some antibiotics around, because they give him the same one plus albuterol in pill form every time he gets this. They're so stingy over here with antibiotics.

Glad you're doing better today, Mary Anne. I have a friend with Macular Degeneration who take shots too, although I think she has the dry type. My girlfriend's mother had it & it was never treated & lost all but a bit of her vision, so she has to be watched too.

It was nice here too, but I think this was the last day, it's supposed to start raining tomorrow.

Mary Alice, if I had a cat of any color, I wouldn't let it out of my sight until Halloween was over.

Mary Anne, I can't imagine how horrible all those injections are in your eyes, my mother and gmother hand MD and my doctor is keeping close tabs on my eyes since it is very much hereditary. Hope you feel better soon.

Kay hope your DH feels better soon too. Sure pray it doesn't get worse and go into pneumonia especially since he is prone to that.

My hubby is still trying to adjust to the new meds for his a/fib. They make him very tired, that is one of the side effects. Today Zoey and I walked and then we ran some errands and enjoyed the beautiful mountains and leaves!!!!

Got an injection in my other eye this morning and I'm really a mess today...lol Can't see well and my allergies are full blown. Won't be sparking much.

MaryAlice, I'm sure you'll get the hand of it soon - it will become a "new" habit.

Jules, good thing Steven has you to look after him. Give him a big hug for me.

Kay, the alternative is worse then the injections. So far I have been very lucky with just the edema and no bleeding. If it weren't for all this crap going on from the surgery, I'd consider myself doing pretty good. Sending healthy vibes for your DD and hope pneumonia stays away. Seems as though when the weather starts to change it brings on all kinds of things. Of course, the wind it pushing all the pollen around also.

Well, I'm going to go rest my peepers. Have a great day everyone!!!

Good morning, Yesterday I called Apple and asked them how to undo what DH did to my computer. They said they wouldn't because they were glad he had installed it. It was their new operating system and on all their new computers and tablets. They gave me a tour of the system and told me I could call anytime during the next 90 days for more assistance. I keep trying to do things the old ways out of habit, but this might work.

Wouldn't you knew, DH wants to for a walk, the mall, hike the trails what do I want to do. I have a splitting headache and well the little toe on my right foot doesn't hurt.

This is national cat day, love your kitty emoticon

Remember Halloween can be dangerous for pets, Chocolate is poison to dogs and sugar free foods can cause them to go into a diabetic coma. Black cats tend to disapper this time of the year and a new trend is for orange cats to disappear.

Alice, plantar fasciitis is incredibly painful, I do all the stretching and exercising but it still hurts sometimes, especially after walking for a while.

Bummer Mary Anne, MD robs you of your middle sight and Glaucoma robs you of your peripheral sight, I just hope they can keep it at bay for you.

Maggs is doing great today, it looks like it's died down until the next flare up.

Kay respiratory infections is always something Steven contends with all the time. I'm convinced it's because he was a premature baby, his lungs have never been good, all he needs is a virus and bang it goes straight to his chest. I always keep a box of antibiotics at home in case it becomes infected so we can hit it before it gets worse. I'm always listening to his chest with the stethoscope when he has a cold.

Mary Anne, I tell you, I'm so sorry that you have to go through this; I know I've said it before, but I can't even stand eye drops coming at my eyes, let alone a needle. But I guess God gives us strength to go through what we have to, and that's better than losing your eyesight. Hope pain leaves quickly!

Now my DD is sick with a respiratory infection, which is good, so far it isn't pneumonia. He's so prone to getting that. There are so many sick people around, must be the change in weather. I hope the meds quickly clear it up.

Hi Alice, good to hear from you! Great quote; I need some courage some days.

Jules, hope Maggs is doing better. Thanks for answering my question.

Mary Alice, it's nice that your DH can walk with you; maybe I'll get to do that when mine retires.

Just quickly stopping in since I can't really see well tonight and my eye is killing so will be sitting with hot compresses for a while. All the drops they gave me also set off my allergies so guess you can say I'm a real mess tonight.

Jules, I've been getting injections for wet macular degeneration. My dad has the dry and MD runs in both dad's and mom's family. So, you might say I've hit the jackpot. I have one cousin who has already lost her eyesight so I can get a little paranoid. I joke with a very good friend of mine that she might end up being my "seeing eye person".

Hope everyone has a good night. Off to get the hot compress!!!

Good morning everyone!
It seems most of us face such challenges every day! I'm thankful that we are mostly healthy and can get around!!!!!

Mary Anne, hope you have success this week with all your eye appointments and procedures. I know that has to be painful and not a fun way to spend your week. Hope, also, that things are working out for you to move your folks closer to you.

We will be here at the cabin until either Nov. 6 or 7th. Have to get back to Fl and get ready for the Thanksgiving holidays! Also have a craft show that I love on the 9th. I missed all the craft shows up here :(

Jules, hope Maggs is feeling better after getting her meds.

MaryAlice, when I walk with my DH I have to walk really slow which hurts my back but it is nice to be able to walk with him. Glad you had a good time at the festival.

Alice, thank you for the quote!

Kay, I would definitely take your DH to the emergency room next time!

To everyone that I've missed, I did read your posts but just not good at remembering everyone's!!

Good morning. DH spent 4 hours "fixing" my computer so it would work faster. I spent 6 hours trying to get it to do what i want it to do. maybe one of these days It will work. And with all that if it is any faster it isn't enough of a difference for me to tell.

I went to the Renaissance Festival yesterday. time wish I got a lot of walking in. Step wise not so much. I walked at DH's speed. DH has CP, walks by shuffaling his feet. It was frustrating to walk that slow, but felt good to walk with DH. I found another staff and DH found a cane. I don't need another staff, this make 6, but DH has trouble finding a wooden cane that feels good in his hand. the one he had was wearing out.

I spent a good part of the spring getting rid of sumac. It grows all over the place and is hard to get rid of and sumac breaks me out so bad. DH cane is a sumac root. After the root dries it doesn't cause reactions.

I got a safty cord that is used for pedometers. The clasp hurts under my shoes, so I use it when I I'm not wearing shoes and socks. That isn't often since The dr says I have to wear good supportive shoes, no flip flops, no sling back, no sandals, no heals over 1 inch

Jules ~ I have plantar fasciitis (sp) and have found the exercises and night boot are my relief. When it first flared up years ago, the first podometrist tried to sell me some $400 inserts for my feet. The second one gave me the night boot and copies of bunches of exercises. It took a while to get use to the night boot, but when I did, it was wonderful. I never had therapy or injections. It took several months to get the relief, but everything worked. I have gotten in the habit of flexing my feet while sitting and doing calf raises when I stand. When I first feel a flare up, I grab the night boot for a few nights and it all goes away. Never let it get to the state it was originally in. Those things can put you down for a while. I don't understand how people can even walk when they are in full mode.

New level of courage

It is comfortable to stay where you are. But soon, that comfort will turn into boredom, frustration and regret.

It is uncomfortable to take on a challenge and to venture along a new path. Yet that is precisely what makes you stronger, more interesting, more capable and more fully alive.

Go ahead and do what makes you feel slightly apprehensive. That is also what makes you grow.

Feel the fear and apprehension. Learn from it all and let it prepare you.

Then, step boldly forward. Experience the new level of courage you have just attained.

Make good, purposeful use of that courage so that it grows ever stronger. And let it lead you forward into the true greatness that is your destiny.

— Ralph Marston

You'd just love to "Gibbs slap" some of those smartass doctors wouldn't you. They just won't listen. Maybe if he is seen when he is "suffering" might make all the difference. I know doctors don't know everything but you'd think they be a little more attentive to the pain the patients are in

Magg's pancreatitis is usually set off with highly coloured foods and ones with high amounts of preservatives. I got her anti inflammatories refilled today just in case it flares again but if I'm careful it will just fade out and not flare again.

Mary Anne if you've mentioned it before I'm sorry, but what exactly is wrong with your eyes, is it Glaucoma or something different?

I guess we've always had way too many leaves to not get most of them up. If I left them, the grass would die. Believe me, it's happened in areas where I left them since there are just so many.

MaryAlice, never thought to wear my SPAT like that. I'll have to give it a try. I read where folks have lost there's and when I'm out there knee deep in leaves, I get a little nervous.

Kay, hope you're feeling better and yes, plugged ears can do you in. I finally called the doctor and stopped in a few years back when I was so dizzy that getting up during the night to go to the bathroom, I had to walk against the wall. The minute she checked my ears she said "No wonder". I didn't realize they were that bad. You're right about taking you DH to the ER next time. Sometimes that's the best thing to do so someone can check it while it's actually an issue. Sorry you didn't get to go on a vacation. Please take care - both of you!!

Jules, I feel so sorry for Maggs. Hope you can get this cleared up. Poor baby..

Sandi, would be nice if you'd get some warmer weather so you could be outside more. How much longer will you be at the cabin?

Not sure how much I'll be on over the next few days. I have to see the retinal specialist on Monday and Tuesday to get back to back injections...oh joy of joys. Then late on Tuesday I have to see the opthomologist to have my eye checked to see if the laser treatment helped at all - doesn't seem to be a difference that I can tell. Then Wednesday, I have a bunch of things to do for my folks so it's going to be a crazy week. So, I'm not "lost" just spending way too much time with the doctors!!!!

Jules, I never mentioned my DH again because I get about half mad when I think about it. He took DH off the med (generic Lyrica) that he was taking and the pain was gone which was good. He did an EMG & said it might have been tendonitis or something. I was very upset. I told DH the next time he has this (he's had it twice) we're going to ER & then maybe if they see him in actual misery, they'll see there is something wrong. You try to go the proper routes and this is what you get, by the time you get in, they can't find what is wrong, so they do nothing. I can't help but think something was pinched. Do they know what's causing Maggs' pancreatitis? Poor baby!

I feel a tad better today, still kinda of dizzy, think it's in my ears.

We finally had sun & a nice day here today, but I don't think it's supposed to last. It wasn't really warm, but at least it wasn't gloomy like it has been.

Poor Maggs, hope she feels better. Also hope the fires will be out soon.

We might get a little rain here and it's suppose to warm up this week. I don't like it so cold that Zoey and I can sit out on our porch!!!!

Kay sure hope you will feel better soon. That is so sad that you and hubby couldn't go on your trip that you had planned. I've just still been having a problem with my sinus'.

I too have trouble with my feet especially after the foot surgery. I wear insets too in my walking shoes. I've found if your feet hurt, you hurt all over.

Wishing you all a great week.

No rain up north at all, I'd give them some of ours if I could we'll be having it on and off for the next week or so.

Kay how is your husband, you haven't mentioned if the doctors have done anything more or not.

I must admit I mow over the leaves that fall here as well, sometimes I might put them into a bit of a pile then run over them with the sit on mower.

Maggs has had a small Pancreatitis flare up this morning, she's better this afternoon, I'll get the vet to check her out tomorrow as she has an appointment for acupuncture and rehab.

We mow the leaves & the rest blow away with all the wind that we have here. By the time, we done, not much left.

I managed to pick up a virus of some sort and feel terrible, keep going from freezing to burning up, and my head feels like it could explode. DH is on vacation is on vacation & we were supposed to take a weekend trip, but I told him that I was just not up to it. emoticon emoticon I get some relief while the Advil is in effect, but soon as it wears off, look out.

Jules, I hope you can find some relief for your feet, that's so true about your feet, if they hurt you feel miserable all over. I've had some problems, not the same as yours, and was glad to finally have them resolved. I heard about the fires & wondered if they were anywhere near you. So scary!

Mary Anne, I hope you find a good spot for your mom & dad; I know that's got to be stressful, and trying to do it on your own is a lot of time & leg work.

Jules, it seems like when your feet hurt that your entire body suffers. Hope the inserts help. I have to wear them now or my feet will kill me if I'm standing too long. As for the leaves, one year I got really frustrated and did blow some of them back but the next day was really windy and guess where they ended up...lol Have they had any rain to help put out the fires?

Mary Alice, while working in the yard today which involved a lot of walking, I wore mine on my waist band and learned after that it didn't track. I was afraid to wear it on my sneaker out of fear that I'd lose it in the woods. Where do you wear yours???

As for leaving the leaves under the snow....I grew up in Maine and lived in MA for 21 years. We never left the leaves since they can smother the grass. The snow protects the plants/grass from the bitter cold we use to have.

Sandi, I only wish I could get mom and dad's input on the places I've looked at. I guess mom really won't know the difference but I'm still concerned about dad. He's been up there his entire life and this will be a big adjustment for him.

Had a seminar to attend today and when I finally got home, PolyDactyl and I went outside. She watched for the birds and I cut some more out of my flower beds. Didn't even consider raking with all the wind we were having. Won't be around much tomorrow since I'll be going to a play with my DIL's mom and some friends.

Have a good night everyone!!!

I've never lived where it snowed much either but I guess it makes sense to leave the leaves on the grass as protection.

Mary Anne, I agree with Jules, use a blower and blow them back in their yard!!! Guess they would just keep blowing back in yours!!!! Hope you are able to decide on a place for your folks. Don't wear yourself out too much,

Jules, hope the inserts help your feet. The one I had surgery on still bothers me some and will still swell at times. Sure hope they get all those fires out soon.

Kay, Zoey would hate getting a bath in this cold weather! I will wait till we get back to Florida where it isn't quite as cold!!!

We had a fun day at our friend's house watching football, eating and talking!! Zoey goes with us and just loves being the center of attention!!!

Make haste slowly, for one can easily become discouraged. One can become overenthusiastic. One can become in such a manner of policy as to let the little ends slip without proper consideration, as to their meaning with the whole undertaking.

Good morning, I have always separated intentional exercise from activities of daily living. The tracker records exercise. The tracker tracked an hour exercise while shopping in 10 to 15 segments. i walked the dogs for and hour and 1/2. so my day off I got 2 1/2 hours exercise.

We were told not to rake our leaves, our lawn needs them. We mow them so they don't blow. DH says when he lived up north he was told to leave the leaves to protect the lawn from the snow. I've never lived where it snows.

Mary Anne maybe you need to buy a heavy duty blower and blow the suckers back into their yard. Keep doing it until they get the message!! emoticon

The fires up north have died down a bit but it's still dangerous up there.

Nice day here today, did the grocery shopping and my feet are killing me. I bought some special inserts for bone spurs and plantar fasciitis, while they work a bit my feet are still very sore.

Kay, the only thing the wind does for me is blow my neighbors leaves into my yard since no one seems to rake!!!!

Jules, I'd vote for the rain also. How are the first doing? I haven't had the news on lost track of what's going on.

Was out real early this morning for my annual checkup. Then I spent the biggest part of the day walking around one of the nursing homes that I'm considering. Got to meet some of the nurses, CNAs and residents and have a chat. Things could really start to move and I'm busy with paperwork, phones calls, etc. So if you don't see me much, it's not that I don't care I'll just be going a little nuts. Still haven't heard back from mom's LTC insurance. I want them to answer some questions in writing and make sure I have all my ducks in a row!

I spent most of yesterday trying to load files from my old computer to my new one; some will transfer, some won't. I always dread this process. I didn't get any kind of a boot disc or key code, I guess I will have to check into what there and if there's any way to make one. McAfee was pre-loaded, not Norton.

Lilydog, mine could use a bath again, but they already think it's winter & if I gave them one, they'd probably think they were freezing to death. I'll have to sooner or later, but I'll give them some time to get used to the colder weather.

Mary Alice, we haven't had trick-or-treators in years; while I enjoy seeing them, it makes me glad that I don't have the temptation of candy around, because I do like it. I'd have to buy kinds that I don't like.

Mary Anne, our leaves should blow away tomorrow, it's supposed to be really windy.

Good morning, Today is an off day. I'm off work and it is an off day for exercise. That doesn't mean no exercise I still have 2 big dogs that need walked. I went grocery shopping, picked up some last min halloween things and DH drove so we had to go by best buy to see if there where any new tablets.

I might have 1 trick or treater, but most years I don't have any. I'll buy one candy bar and take it next door. One of the things about living at the end of a dead end road where you have to past a cattle ranch and horse farm to get to your house, no one comes out this far.

Lilydog, I bought laptops as I don't have a lot of room for a full computer. Please don't think we don't want you here just because we don't mention everybody, sometimes we're time poor and just touch base here. Never forget all of our members are appreciated here.

Went to the doctor this morning and also got my hair cut. It was about time too I was starting to look like a dish brush!!. I went to the doctor to find out why I've been aching all over lately, I had a blood test and we'll see if there is anything to see early next week.

Usually here in October it's cool nights with a lovely day, but we've been having some very cool and very wet weather lately, I won't complain too much as much as I want the warm weather the later the fire season starts here the better.

Kay, it hit 52 here today but the wind was "wicked". It's in the 30's tonight and the furnace has kicked in. I was out all day so no yard work and the next few days are busy. Won't be playing in the leaves until some time next week. By then I should have a real pile of them.

Microsoft really does have a monopoly on things and really does need some good competition.

Jules, I really thought you're weather would be getting warmer by now. Both times I've visited, it's been the end of October, first part of November and was warm - no jackets needed.

Lilydog, my desktop is about 9 and my laptop about 6 and so far both are still working fine.

Kay blame that on Apple, they wouldn't let Appleworks out when the IBM computers were just starting out and that's how MS got into the works.

Usually when you first boot your new computer they go through all the "repair" discs and how to copy them. I've use those repair discs many times. I have a disc copy of Office 10, I used to buy a disc copy of my Nortons 360 but now I just renew every year.

It's been cold and wet here today, I'll stuff a shoulder of lamb and do a roast for dinner then have a nap I think, have to go to the doctors tomorrow for a check up and some prescriptions, so I might just jump into a hot bath when I get home and slip into my "jammies" and relax emoticon

Mary Anne, I hope you don't overdo too much on your leaves!! Is it cold there? It's really cold here too! Rain mixed with snow flurries again today! Have fun tomorrow!

I didn't realize you couldn't purchase a disc copy of anything Microsoft anymore either, Office included. They give you an empty box with a "key card", but no disc. I guess I'm old school & out of the loop. This new computer didn't come with any kind of a Windows 8 repair or boot disc either. I guess you have to make your own. I think it's time for someone to give Microsoft some competition & bust their monopoly.

Lilydog, having 2 big dogs can be expensive, mine are little, and they are costly at times. Dog products do seem to be on the rise; their food, for example. I have to get it at PetSmart because no one else carries what the vet recommended & I don't even use an expensive line of food, just trying to find Senior food.

Read all the posts but am too tired to respond to all...sorry. Spent the afternoon raking and hauling leaves so I can get the yard aerated tomorrow. I wanted to get the biggest part of them up and now I'm sore and congested.

I have XP on the laptop I'm using right now and it's my favorite system.

MaryAlice, Spark was having a problem with the SPAT info appearing on the system. They eventually got it fixed but it look a while for things to start uploading. I have to say, they were right on top of it.

Will be off to meetings at the Swedish Museum tomorrow. They've asked me to help out on their major event of the year which will take place next April. I've always attended but never helped plan it - should be fun.

Lilydog, glad you had a nice time on your mini vacation! We are enjoying this beautiful weather up here but it will be really cold for a couple of days! Will have to snuggle with Zoey!

Today we ran errands around here and took Zoey with us. She loves to ride and loves going in the stores that will let her! She is definitely a "people" dog!

Read everyone's posts but need to go check in with some other threads/teams etc.!

MaryAlice hope you didn't get into too much hot water for being late!!!! Walmart is lucky to have you!

“Hard work spotlights the character of people: some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all.”

- Sam Ewing

Good morning. Yesterday I did it. For some reason I thought I was working 2P-11P Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday . Nope I work 2P to 11 Monday and Wednesday. Noon to 7 on Tuesday. I was an hour and half late for work.

Yesterday I was on a register most of the day. I got 9,000 steps on customer service in 4 hours. 5,000 working a register for 7 hours. Today the tracker says I haven't taken a single step. I even marched in place and counted my steps, nothing I checked yesterday and nothing is recorded for the last hour I was up. I'm off to see what SP has to say about this.

I've never had 2 dogs at one time.... My DIL has Lily and Panela the toy poodles so they come over and it is true they do keep each other busy. Sophie will just have to be by herself she is a big dog and 2 of them would be too much !! Besides her beauty treatments are going to cost me a small fortune I can barely afford hers let alone 2 dogs. I let my husband know in advance what I want for Christmas, is a full service Salon Treatment...Hair, nails just like Sophie LOL I really enjoyed taking her to the Groomer and she was so happy afterwards, she feels allot better I'll be taking her ever 3 months (I hope that is all it is not any sooner)!! It's too much for me to be able to do it myself.

Goozlebear I hope your enjoying Georgia, we just got back from our Mini Vacation in NC oh how I loved the Cool, Crisp weather ... the changing of the seasons was beautiful... it was a fast trip ....a day up there ....rest in the Hotel, ....do the Parkway going South towards home... finish the Pkwy, and head home... got home at 11 pm that day.

Hope everyone's Dogs and Cats are doing well.

We've got 4 laptops here and we've got XP, Vista and Windows 7 on them. I had to stop using the XP one because the storage wasn't big enough, I still keep it as it copies CD's very quickly compared to the other laptops.

Not much happening here at the moment, it's still raining and it looks like it'll be like that for the next week or so. I replanted the broccoli plantlets into larger pots and I will plant them outside when they get a little bigger. I was going to plant my herb tower today, but everything got in the way so I'll try to do it tomorrow

When I got a laptop a while ago, I did manage to find one with Windows 7 on it, but that was luck since that model sold out shortly afterward and all the others had Windows 8. I do NOT like Windows 8.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a choice, I couldn't find a computer that didn't have Windows 8 already on it..all the new models had it on. I still like XP the best too!

It was really cold here today, cold & sunny in the morning and early afternoon; then it clouded up and started drizzling, and every once in a while a big plop of snow. Pretty early, but not the earliest that we've ever had snow flakes, though I wouldn't really call those flakes.

Microsoft tells us that everytime they muck about with their operating system. I still think XP was the best system, a lot of institutions like hospitals still use it because it quite simply does the job. Vista was a pain in the tuches, Windows 7 was closer to XP and I'm not sure about Windows 8. I think I'll leave it at Windows 7 and just go along as usual.

The weather here at the moment is four seasons in one. It's raining here at the moment and cold enough to have the heater on, yet only the other day it was warm enough to want the AC on. Just ridiculous

Kay, I read the other day that an update came out for Windows 8 which makes it a little more like the previous versions of Windows and less likely to need a lot of figuring out. Hopefully that can be uploaded right away.

I'm so behind, I feel like I've been gone for weeks, instead of a week.

Jules, you're right, by the time I priced all the parts my DS told me I needed, it was cheaper to buy a new tower. Now that just seems like a waste but that's the way these things go. It's on order, and in the meantime, I've borrowed my dad's laptop, which he never uses anyway. I kind of would have liked to gone with a laptop, but wasn't ready to spend that kind of money right now. Tower was cheaper, and I keep books for church, so I need lots of disk space & memory. Now if I can just get the hang of Windows 8 which is pre-loaded on it.

Hope your DH is doing well, Sandi. Are the leaves pretty at the cabin? They're finally turning here, it seems like it took forever; they're predicting snow flurries for tomorrow, can you believe it? Highs are going to be only in the higher 40's all week. We usually don't get this weather until December.

Starr, I'm glad your DD is coming to stay so you can run your errands and/or take a walk.

Mary Alice, at least Duke & Mutt are exercising together and keeping each other active. That's why I always like having more than one dog/cat, if possible. They keep each other company too.

MaryAlice, I think Duke is perfect for Mutt, your DH probably doesn't want to admit he is "falling" for Duke!! That is wonderful that Duke and Mutt will run side by side together, I love that!!!

We are finally at the cabin. Last night my computer mouse wasn't working and the pad wasn't working very well either, but today all is fine. Go figure!! It's cool up here so I'll probably have to put Zoey's sweater on in the mornings. We will wait to walk though, when it gets a little warmer.

Hubby is doing good, Mary Anne, so far. He was tired from the trip and has to make sure he doesn't over do!

Well, time to finally get some clothes on for the day!!!

Jules, sounds like you get some changing weather often.

Starr, good for you taking your healthy snacks!

Know that a smile will rally many to thy cause, while a frown would drive all away.

Edgar Cayce

Good morning, walking the dogs is out. it is noisy outside. Raining off and on, but I don't walk in thunder.

I got another 8,000 steps at work. OK steps are good, but it is no wonder my feet hurt walking that much on concrete. I for one have a real problem with my eating when I'm in pain. My brain is sure sweets pastries will get rid of pain.

Duke is racing around in the rain, Mutt is curled up in the back of his crate and Freyja keeps trying to go on the porch just to tun around and race back in. Good thing she has a doggy door in a window.

DH says the dogs can't make friends and doesn't understand why I keep saying Duke is good for Mutt. I pointed out that Mutt spent more time outside running in the backyard since we got Duke. DH said it was the cooler weather. So yesterday I pointed out the dogs facing each other cleaning each others face. Then the dogs got loose and as they raced though the cow pasture they ran side by side and we only had to put a leash on one and they both came home. I'll have to say there is something about watching two big dogs run side by side like that.

Starr does the cold weather make your husbands condition worse? I'm glad you've got your eldest daughter there to help you.

After the warm day yesterday, today is a polar opposite, this weather is one or the other!!

I also did the washing yesterday and changed the bed linens as well, I was totally stuffed by the time I'd finished.

Hope everybody had a great weekend

emoticon Everyone.

I hope that all of you are having a splendid Sunday.

Wonderful job on all those steps you took yesterday Mary Alice. emoticon You Go Girl!!

Well, last night my youngest DD's work had their annual Fall costume dance/party. I managed to burn up 400 calories dancing with her for about 45 minutes. She had a blast, I had a blast, my oldest DD, who is still in a cast, sat at the table with DH and helped him eat his chili Frito pie and watched the action. At the snack shop they had all kinds of fat/calorie laden foods, but from home I brought me a bottle of diet green tea, some sliced red/orange peppers & a 90 calorie Fiber One bar. So I ate my healthy stuff while everyone else pigged out on the junk.

Today I am doing laundry, stripping all the beds, putting things like pillows & comforters that are harder to wash, out on the clothes line so that they can get some fresh sun & air. Gonna unload the dishwasher & fill it back up with dirty dishes. Would like to do some moving around of furniture in the livingroom, but since (last night while I was dancing I turned in a few ways that I don't normally) my back & knee are telling me that moving of furniture today would not be a smart idea......I won't do that.

We started off with mid 40's temperatures this morning, but it is suppose to get to 70 this afternoon. That is my kind of weather. I plan on taking my dog out for a walk a little later.

Right now I am in the process of giving my DH his cough assist & breathing treatments, then I am going to do some paperwork, pay a few bills and do a bit of research on my DH's disease.

Oldest DD is suppose to come over for a bit this afternoon, and that will be when my dog & I take a walk. And I need to go to the Dollar store, while she is here, to pick up a few things. I praise the Lord for my DD, as she is the ONLY person in my whole family who is willing to help me at all with my dear, dear DH.

Well, I have successfully managed to create a blog of last nights party. For anyone who cares to check it out, it is titled: "DD's costume party". Enjoy.

Everyone have a blessed and bright Sunday.

I'm going to put a leash on Lady and hit the pavement. emoticon emoticon

Good morning, Another cool day. I haven't checked but I'm betting my weather site will give will give this a 10 for dog walking.

Yesterday was the first day I wore my tracker to work. I left for work at 6P and got home at 11:45P. The tracker tracks by hour. Yesterday I wasn't behind the register as much as normal. When I got home I can in, sat down till my computed sinked. I got 8,796 steps sorting the things people left all over the store and the holidays begin.

Mary Anne we've been lucky here with lots of rain, it's still very green and the grass is still growing (and growing!!). Our fire season usually starts around December, but if we keep getting the rain, it won't be so bad down here. NSW is very dry at the moment, the poor buggers I feel for them and know exactly what they're going through.

Kay maybe time to bit the bullet and get a new (and hopefully cheaper) model.

I think that Duke is trying to tell your husband what he wants Mary Alice, I hope he's listening.

Sandi, hope you and hubby are enjoying your weekend. Are the meds working? And how is he doing? Still keeping you in my prayers.

Kay, bummer on your computer. Hope you get it fixed soon.

MaryAlice, I love both stories....the one about the customer and the one about Duke. I think he sounds like a pretty smart dog!!!!

Jules, thought of you when I heard about the fires in New South Wales. They were saying how terribly dry it was - making matters worse. Hope you are safe.

I have been enjoying my tracker and eventual want to make sure it's counting my steps correctly. I'm glad that I ordered it and glad I didn't return it before I gave it a chance.

Good morning. I'll be honest I kind of want to keep Duke and haven't been pushing to hard to get rid of him. I was just concerned about DH, he has been against having Duke, well yesterday Duke to matters into his own hands, or paw. DH want for a walk. later I took Duke out to met him. We met up with DH. DJ told us to go on ahead because he walked so much slower then us. Duke had other ideas. he pulled back to walk beside DH. DH asked for the leash. Duke still pulls and I was reluctant to let DH have it, but Duke never pulled.

With this cooler weather, I'm able to walk the dogs more.

I'm late getting on again tonight, busy day! DH did get to come home today and other being very tired, he seems to be feeling fine. He didn't get much sleep all week in the hospital!

We are still planning to leave Sunday for the cabin for about 2 1/2 weeks. It's such a beautiful time of the year up there.

MaryAlice, glad you got your tracker and that it is working good for you.

Jules, I guess Steve isn't a candidate to have his heart shocked. There are so many different types of a/fib and they all seem to be treated differently.

Kay, sorry your computer is still acting up, that is so frustrating!

It's suppose to get cooler here this next week and definitely cooler in the mtns.!!!

Have a good Friday evening!

I'm typing really fast because my computer sounds like a freight train. On top of the other troubles I've been having with the hard drive, now the fan is going out. Yikes! I've got to get my son in gear to fix it, or borrow my dad's laptop, I miss my Spark time.

Sandi, so glad your DH is on the mend! Do pray his heart stays in rhythm this time for good & his new meds work too!

My dogs are in most of the time now too, since they're older, but Jake has that musky male scent & gets ripe, even without moving. I don't know what it is, but after about 2-3 weeks, you can't stand him. I don't know if he dribbles on himself since he's old or what, but whew! I don't know what else would make him smell so bad. Susie doesn't smell & could go much longer.

Mary Anne, do hope you find a place for your folks & everything works out! Sounds like you're getting used to your tracker too!

Mary Alice, I see you got one too, looks like your tracker's working out okay too!!

Good morning, I'm late getting on because I've walked one dog, taken the old phone back, gone shopping and am back home.

Last night my SP tracker came in and I got it set up. It recorded almost 4000 steps while I was on my bike. The bike clock and the SP clock must be different. The bike says I rode 20 min SP says 23. No bigy. The tracker is set you with 2000 steps being a mile I did find a way ti change it, It would require walking to the end of the road and back without the dogs. I don't feel right walking without the dogs, the dogs don't like me to walk without them and the miles aren't that important anyway. This could work.

Yesterday I took a customer, everything went good as far as I could tell. As I gave him his change he asked me if I was OK. I said yes why is something wrong? No it's just you counted my change back to me. I told him I was old enough to remember that's what you do. He told me he was old enough to appreciate it.

It's good Sandi that they were able to shock it back into normal rhythm. Steve would give anything if they would do that to him, but it's a definite no for him.

Beautiful day here today, perfect Spring weather and it's about time. I suspect it will get cooler and wetter later this week. The poor people in New South Wales are suffering with bushfires at the moment. Very early start to their fire season. I just hope they are able to get those fires put out.

It's late but wanted to check in and thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for DH. Hopefully he will get to come home tomorrow. The doctor decided to "shock" his heart this morning to see if that would get it back in rhythm. It did, now for it to stay that way with the new meds. We are still hoping to get to the cabin this weekend!!!

Have a great Friday, miss you all!!!

For as we forgive, we are forgiven; as we condemn others, we are ourselves condemned. Thus in patience condemn not, neither find fault; not condoning, not agreeing, but let thine own life so shine that others, seeing thy patience, knowing thy understanding, comprehending thy peace, may take hope.
Edgar Cayce

Good morning, my feet, knees and ankle are killing me today, oh well I'm only working 4.5 hours today and am off tomorrow.

I've been thinking about getting another pedometer, since I've never liked the cheaper pedometers, I went ahead and ordered the Spark Activity tracker. I don't get the walks I use to and think I can handle that I won't hit 20,000 steps a day. I have been wondering how much I walk in customer service. I quit wearing a pedometer because when I was a cashier I had a problem hitting 10,000 steps and it upset me. I was use to trying to keep it under 25,000 step, above that and my ankle would hurt the next day. Now my feet and ankle hurt most of the time and off work I tend to stay off my feet. I am riding my stationary bike more, so if this shows that maybe it will motivate me to ride more.

Mary Anne I hope everything works out for your Dad and your Mum.

I'd love to have someone massage my feet, but Hell will probably freeze over unless I pay for the privalege I have Plantar Fasciitis in my foot as well as a bone spur, it acts up every so often then it dies down. I suppose I'll just have to wait for it to calm down.

Thinking of you and hubby, Sandi. Hope he has another good night.

Feet sure can be a killer. When you're feet hurt, it can make you entire body ache. MaryAlice, I've soaked my feet in epsom salt before but never rubbed peanut oil on them. I bet the foot rub feels great.

Will be heading for a third visit to one of the nursing homes tomorrow. Want to walk from assisted to skilled care to see what it would be like for dad. I've also spoken to the ambulance companies about getting mom down here and I want to actually meet with them and see the vehicles. I feel this will all be coming together soon depending on openings.

I'm told my feet will stop hurting 2 months after I quit working at Wal-Mart. Things that help, soak your feet in epsom salt. Have your feet rubbed. DH says it is the peanut oil he uses. Me I'm not convinced it is peanut oil, but if he wants to rub my feet I won't complain.

Thank you all so much. I talked to him tonight and they had given him another dose of the new meds, and are to do one more EKG before bedtime.

Zoey and I are headed to be ourselves.

Sandi, glad to hear hubby's day went well. Hope all goes well and this resolves the AFib. Prayers still coming.

Alice, that is such an adorable note. Very special.

Have been playing with my spark tracker today and learned that when I'm raking to wear it on my wrist and not my sneaker. I think I'm going to enjoy it.

Have a great night everyone.

That is so sweet Alice.

Just checking in quickly to let you all know hubby spent today at the hospital and they got his medicine started. He is wearing a heart monitor and being closely watched. He's just bored! Will be going back up tomorrow so probably won't be on much again!!!

Have a great week!

I would like to share with you all the Thank You card I got today from Garfield.

You took me in when no one would
You doctored me, fed me, did all you could
You made me safe
You taught me love
Surely you are an angel from above.

You will always have a place in my heart
Garfield

Of course, this brought tears to my eyes and still now as I type this.

Only special people with special hearts would help this little scrapper write this note

Good morning, I got a message that Mom got home. I'm posting her e mail. Marge, DS #3, is a web designer when you click on the lick, you will see some pictures. Click on the piture to see the show.

I am home from my wanderings. For a few pictures of my wanderings go to www.wanderingalice.com I did not take most of the pictures. I was too busy trying to keep the appropriate parts of my anatomy in contact with the ground.
A word of advice before you plan a week of touring National Parks, make sure they will be open. The state parks were great and the whole trip was wonderful.

Sandi I hope hubby is OK

As my dogs are inside all the time they don't get stinky so I don't have to wash them as often, but that being said I think once the weather gets a little warmer I will give them all a dunk!!

Mary Alice I set up the camp washing line, which is exactly the same as a normal rotary clothes line but smaller, in the spare bedroom just under the heater/AC duct. They usually dry overnight, I haven't had to use the drier for years

Alice, glad your golden is getting her skin problems taken care of.

Today has been busy and trying to get things together for hubby to be in the hospital for the next three days. I probably won't be on much as I'll be back forth all that time. My neighbor is helping take care of Zoey for me which is a blessing.

Have a good evening!

Subject of bathing dogs ~ ~
I hated to bathe our Golden because of the hair and the time to dry it. Therefore, she did not get bathed like she should have. She recently had a skin rash on her back and lost some hair. We took her to the vet and they ran some tests. She has extremely dry skin and it was scaling. I mentioned taking her to be groomed. The vet suggested they give her a medicated bath. Of course, I immediately saw $$$$ Well, to our surprise, it was only $25 to bathe her with medicated shampoo. So, our plans are to take her to the vet once a month for a medicated bath.

I bathed Sophie to get her ready to take her for her pawdicure at the grooming salon they noticed her ears were matted ... I had been working on them but they felt they needed to be shaved, so tomorrow she gets a full body trim to blend with her ears and another bath. Tried to save some money but she needs the full beauty treatment !! Have a great day.

Just came back in and thought some of you might be interested in the blog of another spark friend about the tracker. I think it's worth the read:

It answered a lot of my questions and I've been using the tracker all day!!!

Thought I'd jump on before I head off to take PolyDactyl out and work in the yard. Have got to rake up some of those acorns - you just roll across the yard where they've been falling.

I was going to send my tracker back without even trying it but a friend on another team did a blog about her's. After I commented on her blog, she's been responding to me in sparkmail and giving me pointers. I've had a couple questions and my emails were answered right away. I really gave it a good workout this morning and am actually having fun with it. It's not perfect but it's interesting to walk over to the laptop, tap the tracker and check out the screen.

Jules, glad to hear that Maggs is doing better.

Sandi, thinking of you and hubby and praying all goes well.

Starr, keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Well, Poly is patiently waiting so I better get off the computer and take her out. Have a great day everyon e.

GOOD MORNING ALL.

I AM SO GLAD TO HEAR THAT MAGGS IS DOING MUCH BETTER. emoticon

MARY, I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT NEEDING TO GIVE YOUR DOGS A BATH. ALL THREE OF MINE NEED ONE TOO. (BUT DON'T TELL THEM THAT.)

SINCE IT IS RAINING TODAY, I AM TAKING MYSELF TO THE MALL TO SEE HOW MANY TIMES THAT I CAN WALK AROUND THEIR INSIDE COURT THERE. emoticon AND IF I FIND A SUBWAY, I MIGHT STOP AND HAVE A QUIET LUNCH.

DD IS BACK AT WORK THIS WEEK, AFTER FIGHTING A VIRAL INFECTION ALL LAST WEEK. AND DH'S HOME HEALTH AIDE IS WITH HIM TILL 5 THIS AFTERNOON. SO, FOR A CHANGE, I'M GOING TO GO DO SOMETHING FOR ME. emoticon

I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT COLUMBUS DAY.

MAKE 2021 THE BEST YOU CAN. (I'M PRAYING FOR A MUCH BETTER/HEALTHIER 2021 THEN WHAT 2020 WAS). GO AWAY COVID-19!!

Good morning, I work today so it stopped raining. I need to wash these dogs. I hung my cloths on the porch yesterday, but even there they didn't dry.

We've managed to get a cold snap here it's raining cats and dogs and has turned very cold. Oddly though is I had the AC on in the car on Saturday coming home from the grocery shopping now I've got the electric blanket and the heater on!!

Maggs is going great now, her tummy problems have settled down and she's behaving as normal which is great

Good morning, I need to wash cloths to day and DH called me at work and told me two dogs had gotten so muddy he would let them inside. I got home and they weren't near as dirty as I thought they would be, but both need a bath. they didn't get baths at midnight last night. And it looks like the skys are going to open up any minuet.
