Rita ~ ~

I do water aerobics and water joggin also. I clip my SPAT to the neck of my swim suit being sure that the clip points straight down and have gotten great results. I don't swim, so can't attest to that. I do know a woman who swims and she puts her SPAT on her arm. She takes several of the pony tail bands and puts on her arm to clip the SPAT on.

Hope this helps. Sad to say, but the water exercise is the only thing I use the SPAT for. Don't like the way it counts steps and other exercises. But is great for the water activity.

I will add that I am in continuous motion from the time I step in the water until I leave 3 hours later. I do not stop for any rest and don't even stop to stretch with the other women after the aerobics class. When they are doing arm work, I continue to do foot work type exercises. I do arm strength training at home and don't need the arm exercises in the water. I do water aerobics on my own for an hour before class, then class for an hour, and go straight into water jogging for a mile with no breaks.

In the water, do you not think it will register for water jogging and water aerobics if it's clipped at the bra?

I use 4 ponytail holders (2 at one end of clip and 2 at the other end so it doesn't move) to keep mine on my wrist (open end towards hand) when swimming. It works great. I just make sure I swim at least 10 minutes without a break and manually add the time that I use a kickboard (arms aren't moving then).

About the salt water - I don't know about the ocean but I've been swimming multiple times in a salt water pool without any problems. That is ending though because the school pool is closed for a month while they switch the pool to chlorine instead of salt water.

I've worn mine on my suit three times. Once by the strap and twice at the thigh. I, too, was concerned that the water would finish it off or that it would come loose and sink to the bottom. It survived both. What I kept forgetting is that if you do not move continuously for 10 minutes, it doesn't log as an activity. When I take a moment to rest, then I've lost the opportunity. I read about someone who clipped the tracker to their heart monitor swim watch and it worked well. Hope you'll keep us posted on your experiences. Good luck and happy swimming! emoticon

Yes, it really is waterproof. I probably wouldn't wear it in the ocean b/c salt can be corrosive, but is should be totally fine in the pool.

Good questions, I can't wait for the responses, any suggestions. I am at the pool a lot and have been hesitant to wear it so I just manually enter that part.

Be Happy!!

I've heard tell that the SPAT is water proof, but I wanted to solicit any anecdotes about whether I should hazard to wear the thing in the pool while I'm on vacation next week.

Is it REALLY waterproof? I always cringe when technology gets anywhere near water!

What about walking on the beach and getting it in salt water?

If I'm in the pool, I guess I can't wear it on my foot (unless I wear beach shoes...might just do that!) so I guess I just clip it to my bathing suit strap.

I'm not looking for it to know that I'm swimming, I just want to keep track of overall activity minutes and hate to miss out on getting my pool time counted!

Thanks for any feedback...
