This is great stuff! It happened in my life. Mom died, Tim was born with deformed heart, then.....then my husband turned himself in for murder. He committed before I knew him. God showed me why & I'm grateful He did. Other things I could ask why, but its no longer necessary as I trust in Him. I trust in Him. Either is ok with God.

Where Is God?
His brothers also came and fell down before him and said, “Behold, we are your servants.” But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.”

Every one of us have had events in our past when we wondered where is God? Sometimes—maybe weeks, months, or even years later—we find out why it happened. Sometimes we never find out why. In all cases, like Joseph, even when in our darkest dungeon, when every fiber of our being cries out “Why, God?” we must trust that the end result will work to God’s glory.

People often refer to the “patience of Job,” but perhaps a better biblical model would be to have the patience of Joseph. If you’re in the dark dungeon now and God has not revealed the why of the situation, you will simply have to trust. Trusting God patiently is never the wrong choice.

An article on Attitude...

A famous writer was in his study. He picked up his pen and began writing:

Last year, my gall bladder was removed. I was stuck in bed due to this surgery for a long time.


The same year I reached the age of 60 and had to give up my favorite job.
I had spent 30 years of my life with this publishing company.


The same year I experienced the death of my father.


In the same year my son failed in his medical exam because he had a car accident. He had to stay in the
hospital with a cast on his leg for several days.

And the destruction of the car was a second loss.


His concluding statement: Alas! It was such bad year!!

When the writer's wife entered the room, she found her husband looking dejected, sad and lost in his thoughts. She carefully and surreptitiously read what he had written, and silently left the room and came back shortly with another piece of paper on which she had written her summary of the year's events and placed it beside her husband's paper.


When her husband saw that she had written something in response he read her take on the year's events:


She wrote:


** Last year I finally got rid of my gall bladder which had given me many years of pain.


I turned 60 with sound health and retired from my job. Now I can utilize my time to write better and with more focus and peace.


The same year my father, at the age of 95 without depending on anyone and without any critical conditions, met his Creator.


The same year, God blessed my son with life. My car was destroyed, but my son was alive and without
permanent disability.


At the end she wrote: This year was an immense blessing and it passed well!!
See!!
The same incidents but different viewpoints.
Moral:
In daily lives we must see that it's not happiness that makes us grateful,


but gratefulness that makes us happy.
There is always, always, always something to be thankful for.


ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING....


And attitude is the one thing that we always, in every circumstance, have control over.

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted much lately. I've been working two jobs for awhile now, have had some family "issues," and I've also been having chiropractic treatments on my neck and lower back. The latter two are better, but the first is still going on (two jobs). Somehow, I'm managing to keep up with my exercise (most of the time) and tracking my food intake. Thankfully, I've maintained my weight loss for 4 months now. It's been crazy around here this winter, though. I am so ready for Spring! Now, it's time to apply for permanent teaching positions again (which I've applied for two tonight), and I also keep busy with church work.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you. emoticon

Origins of St. Valentine's Day

How did St. Valentine become associated with love and romance? Get the full story behind the holiday.

Every February 14, across the United States and in other places around the world, candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint, and where did these traditions come from? Find out about the history of this centuries-old holiday, from ancient Roman rituals to the customs of Victorian England.

THE LEGEND OF ST. VALENTINE
The history of Valentine’s Day–and the story of its patron saint–is shrouded in mystery. We do know that February has long been celebrated as a month of romance, and that St. Valentine’s Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. But who was Saint Valentine, and how did he become associated with this ancient rite?

The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were often beaten and tortured. According to one legend, an imprisoned Valentine actually sent the first “valentine” greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl–possibly his jailor’s daughter–who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed “From your Valentine,” an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories all emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic and–most importantly–romantic figure. By the Middle Ages, perhaps thanks to this reputation, Valentine would become one of the most popular saints in England and France.

ORIGINS OF VALENTINE’S DAY: A PAGAN FESTIVAL IN FEBRUARY
While some believe that Valentine’s Day is celebrated in the middle of February to commemorate the anniversary of Valentine’s death or burial–which probably occurred around A.D. 270–others claim that the Christian church may have decided to place St. Valentine’s feast day in the middle of February in an effort to “Christianize” the pagan celebration of Lupercalia. Celebrated at the ides of February, or February 15, Lupercalia was a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus.

To begin the festival, members of the Luperci, an order of Roman priests, would gather at a sacred cave where the infants Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome, were believed to have been cared for by a she-wolf or lupa. The priests would sacrifice a goat, for fertility, and a dog, for purification. They would then strip the goat’s hide into strips, dip them into the sacrificial blood and take to the streets, gently slapping both women and crop fields with the goat hide. Far from being fearful, Roman women welcomed the touch of the hides because it was believed to make them more fertile in the coming year. Later in the day, according to legend, all the young women in the city would place their names in a big urn. The city’s bachelors would each choose a name and become paired for the year with his chosen woman. These matches often ended in marriage.

VALENTINE’S DAY: A DAY OF ROMANCE
Lupercalia survived the initial rise of Christianity and but was outlawed—as it was deemed “un-Christian”–at the end of the 5th century, when Pope Gelasius declared February 14 St. Valentine’s Day. It was not until much later, however, that the day became definitively associated with love. During the Middle Ages, it was commonly believed in France and England that February 14 was the beginning of birds’ mating season, which added to the idea that the middle of Valentine’s Day should be a day for romance.

Valentine greetings were popular as far back as the Middle Ages, though written Valentine’s didn’t begin to appear until after 1400. The oldest known valentine still in existence today was a poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London following his capture at the Battle of Agincourt. (The greeting is now part of the manuscript collection of the British Library in London, England.) Several years later, it is believed that King Henry V hired a writer named John Lydgate to compose a valentine note to Catherine of Valois.

TYPICAL VALENTINE’S DAY GREETINGS
In addition to the United States, Valentine’s Day is celebrated in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France and Australia. In Great Britain, Valentine’s Day began to be popularly celebrated around the 17th century. By the middle of the 18th, it was common for friends and lovers of all social classes to exchange small tokens of affection or handwritten notes, and by 1900 printed cards began to replace written letters due to improvements in printing technology. Ready-made cards were an easy way for people to express their emotions in a time when direct expression of one’s feelings was discouraged. Cheaper postage rates also contributed to an increase in the popularity of sending Valentine’s Day greetings.

Americans probably began exchanging hand-made valentines in the early 1700s. In the 1840s, Esther A. Howland began selling the first mass-produced valentines in America. Howland, known as the “Mother of the Valentine,” made elaborate creations with real lace, ribbons and colorful pictures known as “scrap.” Today, according to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are sent each year, making Valentine’s Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year. (An estimated 2.6 billion cards are sent for Christmas.) Women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines.

Solomon’s Obedience and Disobedience
2 Chronicles 8:1-18

Read
Solomon moved his wife, Pharaoh’s daughter, from the City of David to the new palace he had built for her. He said, “My wife must not live in King David’s palace, for the Ark of the LORD has been there, and it is holy ground.”

Solomon did not deviate in any way from David’s commands concerning the priests and Levites and the treasuries. (2 Chronicles 8:11, 15)

Reflect
Solomon carefully followed God’s instructions for building the Temple and offering sacrifices (8:11), but he disregarded what God said about marrying pagan women. Solomon married Pharaoh’s daughter to secure a military alliance with Egypt. Yet he did not let her live in David’s palace, where the Ark of God had once been kept. This suggests that Solomon recognized that his pagan marriage would not please God.

Solomon married many other foreign women, despite God’s law and warning (Deuteronomy 7:3-4). These women worshiped false gods and contaminated Israel with their beliefs and practices. Eventually Solomon’s pagan wives caused his downfall (1 Kings 11:1-11).

No matter how good or spiritual we are in most areas of life, we cannot compartmentalize our relationship with God. God can’t affect just a few key areas of our lives while being completely absent from others. His word must affect every part. “For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws” (James 2:10).

Respond
Resisting God’s influence in one corner of our lives is no better than resisting him in the wide-open spaces. What corner are you keeping from God?

Pat I love the reference to a ship's compass and steering in the right direction! Excellent reference! That is a good one for me. Also, I like to use the scale almost daily. I do not consider myself obsessed with it though as some might think. But, it will alarm me if it starts to go upwards! Then I will use that as a gauge to cut back on either carbs or fats or such things.... perhaps some calories!

I agree with you all on the "mantras" and the motivation. I lost 2.5 pounds since yesterday. I do not usually weigh everyday, but because I am working on some self-motivation here, I decided it would not hurt to throw it into the mix to check on my course. When sailing a ship or boat, it is almost a constant check of the compass and adjustments in the sails and rigging in order to make the destination as needed. So I am not worried or afraid of checking my weight everyday. It also helped me make it tool for success instead of being afraid of the thing.

I think my biggest success with SP has been able to actually "say" what my weight is. Since the very beginning of my weight growth, I have been too embarrassed or afraid to state it as it was. Now, I am not.

If we can notice and remember our small steps along the way, it can inspire us to keep going to find more memories of what we have overcome.

I keep hearing all these motivational quotes inside my head--- Like-- you cannot expect change if you don't change what you are doing. And " a moment on the lips, forever on the hips"--- I need to ramp up my game in order to be healthy and as fit as possible (for my age) - I cannot reverse the years, but I do control what I feed my face; too, walking around the block twice a day----will cost nothing. I must train myself to "change" for healthy benefits!
So, Pat, I resolve to improve my habits- because the reward is worth it!

Regarding the gas prices-- A new Wal-Mart is almost complete in my neighborhood. Does anyone find that their gas prices are a significant savings?

Well, it was weigh-in day at my house and while I knew I had ignored my inner voice on the Christmas food I ate, ALL MONTH, I was not disappointed on the scale. Time to dig in and get on track again, downward is the direction I am going! Anyone else feel ready to put your shoulder to the wheel and join me in my downward slide to victory, just join in. I'm here to tell you my weight everyday, and if I forget, come tell me, please. I need the support of some very faithful watchers that will catch me when I forget. Old is not fun. Being too big is not fun or healthy.

12.28.15 = 221.0 pounds! Ugh!

Just returned from a trip to Saratoga Springs, NY where the gas was 2.14/gal! What a bargain for me where our average is still about 2.31....

I guess we can't complain here in the states where some gas overseas is still very high or just plain scarce... Some places pay as much as $10/gal- WHAT???? INSANE!

We are so fortunate to live in the US...

I'm going to change the subject here to fitness. After yesterday, which I completed without being off track that far and was happy with my decision to swap out mashed potatoes to rice and not miss the potatoes, I felt grand. It was a huge leap for me to do that. I am not a rice liker and I love potatoes (Irish, I am) and so I have to say, I was proud of myself yesterday. But now I have 30 days to the next holiday. So it's time to bump up the fitness and work harder on utilizing all the things I have learned on how to make healthy meals and just be healthy, which I have been told I am very healthy. Too bad every time a doctor says that to me a huge glob of fat doesn't just disappear.

So does anyone want to join us on the Image of the Day thread and bump up their fitness and other healthy things for the next 30 days? If so, just jump in on the daily thread and give us you ideas, success, and perhaps learn some from others, too.

What I don't understand, every time the news talks about gas is going down to record levels, our gas goes up the next day. Yesterday afternoon we were down to $1.69 and today it is $1.99! Go figure, And I was too lazy to stop and get gas yesterday!

Baaahahaaaaaa!

We have always PAID MORE! Up here in Northern NY, we pay more to have the privilege of living in the mountains! I guess we are similar to areas like CA. Our gas is between 2.49-2.33. Lucky us! We consider this a bargain!!!!!!!!!

When I went to NJ it was considerably lower by about .60!
Gotta love those NY taxes!

We are having gas wars in some areas around here and it has gone down as low as $1.59 per gallon. But generally it is running about $1.70 per gallon. And they say it will go down further. Naturally goes down when I am not driving 100 miles a day round trip going to work!

I haven't seen anyone post here lately, how much is gas in your area?

I was in Indiana and got mine for $1.96 a gl, but saw it as cheap as $1.93. it is a little more near me, I live in a Chicago suburb.

Bob-- I bet those gold colored glasses might be a collector's set now-- Ha.

I work at a bank and today an elderly customer told me he had his first loan at this very building, back in 1950-- for $25.-- for his high school class ring. His homeroom teacher came along with him to co-sign. And, furthermore, this gentleman said he still has the original paperwork-! This dear fellow really made me smile---

And some gave knives or glasses with a fillup! My mother's brother gave her a set of glasses he got free from Shell for their 25th anniversary! He said they were gold colored so he thought it was a great gift! He wasn't very bright and was cheap. Drove a Cadillac and would get 50 cents worth of regular gas. So embarrassing.

Oh the days when the gas station attendants filled your tank, checked the oil, and then cleaned the windshield------and you didn't get out of the car! As a kid, I remember that the mechanic's rags were these reddish colored cloths/ -- and the odor of gas is a memory too.
(My dad always asked for "one dollar regular"-- for his '53 green Chevy. )

I wish we could bring those days back! I remember them well. I used to work in retail and remember how the store never really looked clean on Monday morning when I would come in before the public did. No one had any time to put things back in place and let the dust settle. We always managed to get the item on Saturday that we have to rush out on Sunday to get . Everyone and everything needs a rest.

Freedom.
By definition it is – the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.

Freedom is powerful. It is a gift. A treasure.

The most significant, important gifts in life are always worth fighting for. And often, they come with a great price. They are not free. Somewhere along the way, someone paid dearly for the liberties we enjoy so freely today. But often, we forget. It’s easy to take them for granted. Yesterday started out great with breakfast out, shopping and just a basic beautiful day weather wise. Then the phone rings----call from the real estate agent saying that he couldn't get in the house to show it!!!! What!!!!! We were just up there over the weekend to open the dead bolt that they couldn't open. Wanted the house locked up good after having that person walk in the back door! The real kicker was when the agent tells my husband that other people haven't been able to get the door open either! Makes me wonder how many showings didn't happen. Thanks people for not calling us!!! We rushed to the post office yesterday just in time to get the keys we have over night delivered to the real estate company. Hope the people who were lined up to see the place yesterday will want to come back. Seems we are cursed with trying to sell that place!! I do know that God is in control and I did thank Him that we made it to the post office on time. We are still moving on with our plans. The house WILL sell. Just hate getting calls like that!!!

Had a special day today: we went to see our new house! Well, it doesn't look like a house quite yet----more like a platform on wheels, but it is on the assembly line! They have the flooring all in place and a duct for the heat/ac in. It looks so huge, but will be so cozy when it is all complete. We were told we can come back next week and see it further along in construction.
The factory is quite a place! They have quite a few houses on the line in various stages of being built. Our cabinets and built in's are all done and just sitting across from the house waiting to go in. We are getting our house from Chariot Eagle in Ocala Florida.
Next week we are moving out of my MIL's house. The mission here is complete and we are ready to move on! Hopefully the house will sell sometime. Anyone looking for a nice little house in Florida in a 55 plus community ; )

Just won 10 points for the team. Maybe that is a good sign today will be a better day. Started out yesterday with a horrible night mare and then finding out we had a package stolen from in front of our door---probably along with our first class mail!!! The low life's are everywhere. So glad we are leaving this neighborhood. Its a nice one--55 plus community, but it isn't gated and all the pickers come by on trash day---they visited us yesterday too and this is the second stolen package we have had! Like I said in my blog, I'm losing faith in humanity! We are leaving next Wednesday!!! I could care if this house ever sells! We don't have any financial interest in it except what little we will get when it sells so let it sit! The price goes down on it today. Anyone want a nice little home in Florida????

Want to wish all of you mothers a wonderful Mothers day tomorrow---even those of you who are fur mothers like me. My mother has been gone to heaven since 2002. I still miss her, but know she is one happy lady now!
We will be moving into our new home some time in June if everything goes okay. We were down to see our lot this week. It's a good sized one with plenty of room for a driveway and car port plus a small deck. I'll be putting out some flowers in honor of my mother. Our house is a little park model made by Chariot Eagle right here in Ocala Florida. Just big enough for the two of us and no company!!!! I've had about all I can take of his family so no room for them to even sit down if they come ; ) Get a room----just not in my house!
God has truly blessed me this year. It has been a hard one for me since we got to Florida with the drama his mother and the cousins brought, but that is all over now and we will be on with our own life soon. I know my mother would be so happy for me. I wish she could be here to see my new home, but I like to think she can look down and see it from her heavenly home.

I just want to stop by this forum and recommend a movie-- "Little Boy"

Seldom do I attend movies at the theatre, but last night my husband and I had a rare "night out" and we saw--- "Little Boy"--- We both enjoyed it so much-- It is about a boy's love for his father-- The child is eight years old, and the story of his family during wartime--- is full of powerful emotion-- and about Faith. There has been little "advertisement" of this film---
However, it will not disappoint you--------- See it if you can.

I pray all the time for God to with hold His judgment on this country. We are turning our back on Israel and it seems the fabric of the nation is fraying out all around. So much violence. We need to pray for a revival.

Each wave of violence is getting worse and worse and more deadly. And they say summertime and warm temperatures make it worse. I know here in St. Louis we still have bits and pieces of violence, and with every new agitation gets worse and more deadly. We need a conversion in this country. We need to turn back to Jesus, instead of all the things we idolize today.

Watching the TV news about Baltimore's rioting and destruction-- is heartbreaking beyond words. How can we become so violent and so lawless --committing criminal acts----against people who had no part in provoking resentment. It seems to me that it will take a "miracle" to restore order and civility. It is frightening to face these "events" in America the beautiful--
God, please shine your grace on us!

I agree with you. We live in such a violent and hurting world. We need to pray for others since in so many cases there is nothing we can do one on one for them like that girl on drugs you mentioned. We can reach out to them when it is possible, but prayer touches everyone. I feel so helpless so often to make much of a difference in this world, but I think if I can help one other person I will have accomplished something.

Pray for people who try to hurt others, I have seen enough of this lately.

Things seem quiet around here. It was such upheaval with my daughter moving and the stress of the separation. My oldest daughter is in Gatlinburg right now. I am glad that there is no stress right now. I have had enough of it. I am praying that things will stay that way.

We finally got the electric issues in the coach fixed! We have learned the hard way not to use mobile services for major issues. The guy who "fixed" our problem last fall was the cause of most of the issues we have had since. Thank you Lord for listening to me grovel. I've learned to trust a bit more. Now we can escape this God forsaken area for a while instead of sitting day after day with no interest on this house. Thank you!

We're having one of those when it rains it pours times too. Ours has to do with our motor coach. We had 12 volt problems for a while which we FINALLY got fixed. We went to Daytona yesterday planning on staying for two days only to get hitched up and found we didn't have any electric except the batteries!!!!! I won't go over the frustration of trying to get someone to talk to us at the repair place that fixed the 12 volt problem. We won't be going to them again!!! We were able to get a mobile service to come by. This guy was great. He couldn't fix the problem, but was able to tell us just what was wrong so we can get it fixed. Our relay switch died! This is what tells the electric current where to go. Since it wasn't talking it didn't go anywhere! I think this has been coming on for a while since we get a loud banging sound in the area of the surge protector now and then. Hard to explain that when you take it in for repair ; ) Today when we went over to the coach to get something the low battery alarm was sounding! Not sure what is going on, but it goes to the RV repair on Tuesday. Just have to hope they can fix it for good and right this time.
I could be upset about all this, but am trying to look at the big picture. We still have things here that need to be finalized. The house is still up for sale, my husband is still waiting for his inheritance money to come and I have some banking business to finalize. I know God is in control! I'm just letting Him deal with all this!! We will be on the road at some point when the time is right I believe. I do have to admit I did give in to stress snacking yesterday. I had two pieces of candy one after the other! Oh, well. I know I was doing it so the good habits are still staying with me. Guess we all need to sweep up our glass or what ever is in our way and just move forward in a positive manner!

thank you team mates, I am getting better and stronger with God's help. today I hit the tailgate button by mistake on my key fob. long story short the garage door took out the back window. normally I would get angry and be in a bad mood....today I gave it to God, cleaned up the glass called to get it repaired and moved on. just said to myself at least I didn't hit/or kill anyone

working hard every day to make healthy choices, to become the best version of me

This is a great lesson about purpose---
It makes me think of --- "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but loses his soul?"---
No matter what goals we have, and goals can differ according to the stages of our lives--
my purpose is to aspire to virtue, and aspire to salvation. Living a life of kindness and charity, as a humble servant of God.... is the best way to the finish line.

Running to Win

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the Pioneer and Perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." -Hebrews 12:1-2

What does winning look like to you?

Before you read the rest of this devotional, I hope you will take a moment of honest soul searching and write down your answer.

One of the members of our Workplace Support Group posted the question: How do you run the race to win?

At the end of a series of responses, I suddenly realized that the person who posted this question may have a different vision of “winning” than I or the other group members.

If you would like to go deeper, here are some questions that may help you discover what winning means to you…

· What are you striving to achieve?

· What motivates you?

· How self-reliant are you?

· What compromises have you made?

· Whom are you trying to please?

· Whom are you competing against?

· What or whom is your focus?

· Are you still running the race, or have you given up?

Notice I didn’t ask “What obstacles have you faced?” The reason is because obedience to God is always our pathway to manifest victory, no matter what obstacles arise along our journey.

Another person in our group, Kevin, answered the question of winning a race this way…

“In a practice sense, you cannot win an endurance race your first time around. It requires a great deal of consistency in your training, gradually increasing your distance and your speed. You won't be able to run the 26 miles of a marathon your first time on the track. You will stop to catch your breath while others look on. The point here is to always start running again. You'll realize very quickly that, as a runner, every extra pound of weight you carry over those 26 miles is painful and burdensome. In the context of faith, the same applies to sin. You cannot win the race of faith without dropping the stone weights of sin on the track. You may be slow at first due to the burden and need to catch your breath as you acclimate to the way of life Jesus wants you to live, but persistence and effort in your faith will take you to the finish.”

A champion inspires others and doesn’t give up! A champion is victorious amid a dense crowd of onlookers and listeners. A champion is free of hindrances that would otherwise slow him or her down. A champion lives in truth and is free of entanglements that would otherwise hold him or her back. A championed is focused on Jesus (not mankind), who went before us to demonstrate how to live a holy life and to make us victorious from start to finish.

Some people may keep their eyes on “the prize,” whatever that prize is to them. Maybe it’s a job promotion, a pay increase, a bigger home, a material object. They may set incremental goals and set out on a path to achieve or obtain those goals. Many may be self-reliant in some measure. Many may compromise God along the way.

Psalm 119:133 says, “Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.”

I have a very dear friend whom I have known since high school. A successful businesswoman, Sylvia is now in her mid-fifties. For years now, Sylvia has run New York City’s Half Marathon, a 911 benefit race. She’s busy and she’s buff and she muscles through the 13 ˝ miles along with her husband and makes it part of an annual vacation. As any marathon runner would, Sylvia prepares herself through training. She equips herself with the right gear. She starts and stays the course and finishes with a medal. Sylvia never gives up!

If you know who you are in Christ—that He alone has already made you victorious when you received Him as Lord and Savior—then you can start, run and finish the race like a champion. This truth will set you free to empower you to run like a winner because you already are a winner at the beginning of the race. You either believe this truth or you don't. Every other voice, lie, false teaching, emotion, etc., has to bow to God's truth. It is a matter of simply trusting and obeying, no matter what your circumstances. God's truth and grace gives you every edge you need along the way. But you have to believe it and apply it to your life.

Much of winning a physical race is mental, not physical. Watching Olympic athletes demonstrates this. Many do perfectly well in practice runs. But when under pressure, they fall. The opposite is also true: Many of the least rise up when they are under pressure.

When we run the race, we have to sync up with God (yield our will, submit our petitions, surrender ourselves, trust and obey Him at His word, believe His faithfulness will meet us at our faith) and press into Him for our every need.

Regarding Philippians 3:14, which says, "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus," we have to have God’s mind (not our carnally-driven emotions or limited knowledge)—His purpose, vision, focus—to make it through. As we do our part, He will meet us by His grace to help us fulfill His destiny for us. We cannot do it by leaning on our own understanding because our prior training, education and experience will be insufficient for where He desires to take us. Again, only God's grace is sufficient to help us.

Too many people try to serve God in their own strength, not by His Spirit, which wears people out because God will always call us up higher than we can go on our own. It's called the "Upward Call."

A major key in running the race is to not give up, no matter what. God has predestined our destinies. And we have a choice whether we are willing to cooperate. He co-labors with us to facilitate manifest victory. Jesus is the leader and completer of our faith. And since He endured the cross for our benefit, how can we say “no” to Him?

Pray: Father God, Thank You that You are always for me, that You are always bigger than my challenges, that Your grace is sufficient for anything I encounter. Thank You that Your truth will set me free and that You see me through Your Son, Jesus, as victorious. I choose this day to lay down every encumbrance to running the race You have set before me. Please forgive me for carrying burdens You never intended for me to carry and for not trusting You with them. Thank You that Your yoke is light and that You will never leave my side. I relinquish it all to you, believing you will instruct me how to run to completion…Your way. Amen.

This is the most wonderful story I've heard in a long time!!! This company is something!!! Wish I could eat a chicken sandwich---I'd frequent their stores all the time!!! Wish they did gluten free.....
We all need to reach out like this when we can. Maybe it is just a small thing, but if everyone reached out to someone no one would be left out.
