If you're consuming the water you're adding, it wouldn't change the nutritional content.

Hope that helps,

Question for Coach Jen:

When you add water to dried fruit, such as stewing prunes or apricots, raisins, does it change the calorie and sugar content????

A 3.5 oz. Lindt chocolate bunny hopped into my cart today. But I only bought one, so they won't multiply. My challenge will be to not eat it while I am on this sugar challenge. I can put it in an seasonal decor display that will not be dismantled until after the Easter holiday. To my credit I did not buy jelly beans, coconut eggs or any of the other sugary candy trappings. I need to practice vigilance to eat only one half once once I break into it. Or maybe I could give it to someone who is not sugar challenged.

I have a cheese dome which I have placed over the Junior Mints. To extract one from the dish now means it involves removing the dome...so mindless eating will (hopefully) be eliminated. Recently I have been eating just one a day.....but I suppose that even one is too much,

That said I have been baking bananas, apples (with cinnamon and water) and eating tangerines when I feel the need for a sweet.

Day 2, and already I had 1.75 oz of banana bread. If I were eating all store bought foods I could consult a label. But the slice is 1/24th of a bread that has 3/4C sugar in it. (6 oz) Have to be more vigilant the rest of the day.

Im on day 18 and the sugar cravings have definitely reduced. Im convined the more sugar I have the more I want. Now to actually stay at the low end of my calorie range instead of the top.

Day 1 for me as well. Sweets aren't really as much if a challenge for me as potatoes, gravy, and bread but the end result is the same.

I am on day one also. My goal for today is to not put any candy, cake, ice cream, etc. in my mouth, - in other words, no heavy duty high sugar foods - in my mouth all day. And I will try to eat moderately and do the best I can with healthy foods. Sugar is a big addiction for me and I am so tired of the sugar highs and lows...

Good afternoon team:

I am on day one of the 21 day challenge. I used to belong to over eaters anonymous and they were a great help. I tried going to meeting where I live now but they didn't seem the right fit. I am sure I can probably do something on line.

I put cookies in the freezer and bagels that I had on the counter. I put a jug of water in the fridge and I am going to try to drink one jug of water per day.

I like artificial sweeteners and I am not sure they are good for me. I think they actually make me crave sugar.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Allie

I think artificial sugar is ok. However I am confused as to what "added sugar" is. Does it include the sugar in milk and other dairy, canned vegetables, spaghetti sauce, V-8 Juice, peanut butter and bread? I am also confused as to what constitutes a serving of sugar in ether grams or teaspoons. The more I read the more confused I get. I am not sure it is even possible to go no sugar. The only way I can think of how to do it is to just drink water, eat only fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and meat. No dairy, no canned products, no bread products, no frozen meals. Is this correct?. I am on Day 15 and the challenge is to go "No Sugar" this week. I think I am going to need a miracle. Please help end my confusion.

I'm also curious about artificial (saccharine ect) sweetners. If they count I've got ALOT of adjusting to do. Breakfast alone would have 4 servings added sugar (brown rice syrup in my cereal bars; sucralose in my protein shake; sweet n low in the coffee). What an eye opener

I'm just starting and am nervous about giving up sugar, yet I know I must, as it rules me. From the sound of things this means giving up artificial sweeteners too YIKES! How can I sweeten my coffee?

If honey is added to a food that doesn't naturally contain it (like in a baking recipe, for example), then it would be considered added sugar.

You'll get daily emails with challenges for the day. If you've been in the challenge for a while but haven't been using it, I'd click Leave This Team at the bottom of our team page, rejoin the challenge and then you can start from Day 1.

Hope that helps,

I like putting Splenda in my recipe instead of sugar. I like Truvia baking blend when I want something to get brown or to make caramel. So is it okay to use artificial sweeteners in this challenge?

Browniet, this sounds delicious but I cannot have the artificial sweetener in the SF puddings either [stomach rebels] but I have been playing with protein powder, cocoa powder and truvia and vanilla and mixed in coffee for a hot mocha ..still fine-tuning measurements then will make an iced version for this summer.

Yesterday I had lemon lush; a dessert my friend made & brought over day 2 (4/24) of rejoining SP. I had 3TBS that day & a serving Thurs. I don't if this if cheating or not but for those who crave choc this may be a "fix". I blend 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk (original) 1/4 pk of sugar free instant pudding & 1 serving (2 scoops) of vanilla whey protein powder. And drink! It is delicious. So far I have only had banana cream flavor, but I have sf cheesecake & sf chocolate waiting in the wings. 1C almond milk is 50 cal, 1/4pk of sf banana cream instant pudding 25 cals, protein powder 120 cal = 195 cal drink

OK, I can do better. I've been having SF chocolate chia seed pudding every morning, and then a smidgen (think pinky-nail size) of chocolate later. Even skipping my breakfast cereal because they added cane sugar to it. Tomorrow, no sugar at all!

Hi!

I love chocolate too so I don't have it in the house. I'm on day 3 of the challenge and this afternoon, I desperately wanted something sweet. I finally remembered I had SF chocolate pudding that I made the other day in the frig. I enjoyed every taste and that was it until supper. One day at a time. tomorrow will be a bigger challenge since I will not be home but will be spending the afternoon with a group of friends knitting. Wish me luck

I got the same thing. I guess other people may have it worse. I love chocolate too (who doesn't?), but I can stop at one piece if I have to. However, I need that one piece.

Sugar is my greatest downfall. Since joining sparkpeople, eating good natural food, little healthy fats. 2 weeks later, my sugar craving has declined. Didn't think possible. I did use a slightly sweet marinade to grill salmon & activate my sugar cravings. Wow! learned a good lesson from that. Removed All sugar from my home. Using stevia for now.

I'm currently trying to cut down to 1-2 helpings of sugar a day. I made some chicken in my slow cooker last night and the recipe called for 2 tbsp sugar. Would one helping of my chicken also count as a sugar helping do you think?

I would agree. Some more long term programs do suggest you cut out as much sugar as you can, but I think for this 21 day program, we're just looking at refined sugar.

If i do some of the tasks, but not all of them, should I move on to the next day or repeat the day that I am on. So far, I have not successfully kept to 1-2 servings of added sugar per day, and so am not sure whether to keep repeating until I do so or move to another day.
