Hi team, I hope everyone is getting around and learning the site. It is daunting at first but after awhile you begin to know which parts of it work best for you and which ones don't. Don't be afraid to ask questions, to nose around and to try new things. Lifestyle changes are difficult to begin and to maintain, the key is to simply not quit, no matter what kind of setbacks you suffer keep plugging away, that is success!

I had my appointment with my surgeon today about the sludge in my gallbladder and I will be having it removed on June 23rd. At least they are doing it laproscopically so the down time is not as long as it would be before they started doing it this way. I am on Warfarin so I don't know if this will delay the date of my surgery I have to talk to my primary care doc if I can go off the warfarin.

It sure is overwhelming. I am doing the new member challenge and a diabetes challenge. I found a cleaning and organization team on here that is helpful as I need to get back to organizing.

I can hardly believe all the info that's available on this site - it's a bit overwhelming. I've been doing the 21 day challenge and find it very helpful. I set up my page & have been tracking (for the most part)

Sorry I have been going around the site trying to figure things out. I am using the trackers. I have been finding though with the teams that not many of them are active, well at least the ones that I am interested in.

For right now I am following the meal plans that are set up because I really don't know how to get going on my own with the nutrition aspect. I am also going to be taking a Diabetes Education class at some point when it is in my neck of the woods.

This week has gone pretty good. I did forget to track a couple of days though. It will take a bit to have the tracking become a habit.

Hey guys, where's the chit chat? I seem to be the one posting. I love the goals, that is such an important part of this process. I am going to post another challenge tomorrow that will also run for 2 weeks so stay tuned!

PurplerosesG, do take your time exploring the site. You will figure it all out, I promise but if you try to take it in all at once it can be overwhelming. The nutrition tracker is a great place to start. It is good to just begin to see what you are eating and how that is impacting your health. I found it quite an eye opener!

Don't stress, take some time to explore the teams, if you go to Community and Spark Teams you can find teams that will be a good fit for you!

Good Evening and thank you for the welcome.

I am stressing with the site as there is so many things on here, I need to figure out where I want to start the nutrition tracker might be where to start.

I am glad that there are teams that help people with medical conditions and how to manage them. I have Diabetes and COPD.

I have went through creating a Spark Page. I love wolves so decorated my page with them.

I think I am going to like this site!

Good morning and welcome to SparkPeople! I have been using this site for 10 years and it is a regular part of my day. I have gotten great fitness and nutrition information, lots of support as I work to change my lifestyle and try to adopt healthy habits. Spark teams like this one are a crucial part of the site. Spark teams can be supportive, they can help people with medical conditions find ways to become healthier and to learn how others manage those conditions. There are Spark Teams related to age, amount you want to lose, hobbies, you name it. There are teams organized around specific challenges that help motivate members. Do take advantage of the support offered by these teams. I still belong to my class teams and chat with members of that team even after 10 years.

Don't stress about learning how to use the site, take it a step at a time. One of the first steps is learning which tools are going to be helpful to you. The nutrition tracker has been crucial to me, I use it regularly, it helps me not only keep track of calories I am eating but also nutritional goals. You can choose which nutrients you want to track.

There are a huge number of articles about health and nutrition, there is an excellent library of exercise videos and there are Spark Coaches who answer questions and provide help in a number of ways. Check out the community postings also, there are many forums to answer questions. Some are answered by the coaches and some by other members like myself.

You can set up a Spark Page, put your cursor on your name in the upper right hand corner and you will see My Spark Page, you can post as much or as little as you like. Some members prefer to keep their page private, viewable by only people they add as friends. Mine is public so feel free to click on it and take a look.

This is an extensive site so take your time, look around and ask any questions you may have.
