I'm so glad to see all this chatter! I've done a couple video calls with friends the past couple days too which has been helpful. I'm very restless lately...

Amelia is adorable! I'm glad you'll have some help. I can understand how saddened you must be about not working in an office setting for a while.

I emptied out the back seat of my car for switching to a new car seat today and it was good to do something other than mind the toddler or cook hahaha. I think that's part of my restlessness... After nap I think I'm gonna try to get a turn at doing non-baby-duty tasks

Heather - just checked out your pictures. So surreal. Iím not sure who Eric is (sorry to have been so in and out on here!) but I totally feel you on missing important people in your day-to-day.. I really, really miss being in my office. And I miss my train rides. Coming back to this group has been such a comfort. So glad youíre taking some time off!!! I have no doubt that youíve more than earned it.

Laurie - Oh man Iím jealous of your in-court hearing! I wonít actually ever be back at my old office - we cut off our lease to save $ (more on that below). Do you like to read? I can recommend some stellar books to help keep you occupied as well! One thing Iíve been trying to do with TV is to not multi-task with my phone. It makes it more enjoyable b/c I get sucked into the story more. Or color! I colored today while watching tv and found it quite soothing. *hugs* I feel ya on wanting to go out to dinner and get a beer. Me too! Just remember to trust the public health people more than the politicians, k? *hugs* So exciting for your son!

Carol - um yes of course. Dear god Iím so ready to have someone come babysit her lol. Love her to death but ooo boy do I want just a few hours away lol. Iíve also been consuming a lot of news, but am very thoughtful about *how* I consume to to help with my mood. For example, I mostly listen to news podcasts (love Crooked Mediaís stuff + 538 has a great politics podcast). Enjoy the in-person office time - Iím jealous! I donít know the right answer on the cabin, but I definitely feel ya on wanting to get together with family. *hugs*

***

Wow that was an essay :) feels like old times.

Mikeís mom is gonna start helping out with Amelia next week. Iím nervous about exposure, but really just more frustrated that we have to ask for help b/c I wanna do it all myself, ya know? Itíll be good for everyone involved, though. Mikeís lab work is about to ramp up (itís essential) and Iíve already been cutting it close with work hours (probably getting ~20 a week).

It sounds like itís going to be a VERY long time until my office opens up again. Like not-until-there-is-a-vaccine kinda long. Our CEO/founder is a cardiologist and feels we have a responsibility to stay WFH as long as possible b/c we are able to. Which I agree with but also ouch. I miss being in the office. So much.

As more and more businesses open, Iím so grateful to be able to WFH and ask for help with childcare etc. This article -

- got me thinking a lot about the workers who are expected to go back, and how they can manage that from a childcare perspective. The idea of opening up the economy when we have no where to put kids is insane.

Speaking of coronavirus, my father has decided to take a trip to SC to look at their house theyíre building. Which is obviously essential emoticon . Full disclosure: my father is a Trump supporter so this does not surprise me. But itís still upsetting.

On a happier note, my sister just accepted an offer on her house! They were hoping to move this summer before all the pandemic stuff and it was looking like that was a long shotÖ but I guess not! YAY!

And to top it all off, another baby picture. In this one, sheís clearly very focused on baby tai chi. emoticon

Itís so good to see you guys!!! Amelia is the most adorable baby ever! When we can travel, can I come babysit? I just want to get to know here!

Heather, Iíll go look at your pictures soon!

Laurie - Iím glad you have work and that you donít sound too worried.

Iím so happy that you guys have checked in! I donít go to facebook much. I have been consuming waaayyyy tooooo much news...sigh. Yuck. I think Iíve reached saturation point and there are certain topics that I just have to skip. I think that means Iím getting healthier with this pandemic. I have to go into work on Monday for a meeting and Iím with you, Laurie, itís exciting to actually see people. I go into the office about once every two weeks. (Agriculture is essential.)

The kids want to go up to the cabin and all be together and weíve been discussing how safe that is...itís such a sad situation! Today Iím leaning towards that being a great idea...though Iím not sure how our daughter in Utah will get to Califorinia... My sister, niece and I have talked about meeting there too, but my niece is in the epicenter and my sisterís husband is terminal with polycythemia Vera (and was diagnosed as terminal about 20 years ago)...so...

We are supposed to be in Fiji right now emoticon Our next trip is to Tahiti in late June...I think that one will fail too... sad year.

Kourtney, Amelia is impossibly cute.... that big smile!! She must be a lot of fun.

Heather I saw your photos of a pretty empty city. It's almost eerie, isn't it?

I miss everything too. I had a real honest-to-goodness in-court hearing yesterday and I was ridiculously excited to be back in court. I had to testify with a mask on which was interesting. By the time I got out of there, my whole head was all sweaty. We had to be in one of the large courtrooms to allow for physical distancing so I had to practically yell out my testimony. Those hearings are recorded and I have no idea if the mask will affect the recording, but everybody seemed like they were understanding what I said so we'll hope for the best. I pity the court reporters who have to transcribe that stuff.

My work is even more feast or famine now. I have been SLOWWWW all week, then yesterday, suddenly everyone needs everything all at once so I'm busy again. At least it's the beginning of the month so I was able to bill for April. Finally some money coming in.

Our governor extended our stay at home order until the end of May, but will be slowly lifting restrictions through the month. I can't wait to go out for a simple meal and a beer! Home is SO boring. We don't have little kids to occupy our attention and our animals are pretty quiet and don't need a lot of attention, so the only thing there is to do is watch TV. Ugh... after this I swear I may never watch TV again. We can only clean so much and go on so many walks, but I go when I can either by myself or with my son.

Speaking of my son, he's decided he wants to go back to school for his PhD. He is halfway done with his Masters, so he'll finish that, then move into the PhD program in computer science. He says he wants to teach at the college level. I'm proud and excited for him! He'll start classes in June.

Carol, I haven't even thought about the ornaments!!! Thanks for the reminder, I'll do some organizing and inventorying this weekend and have an update for you.

I went into Manhattan yesterday and if you venture over to my facebook you'll see my very strange photo journalism attempt. It was truly odd. I hope I don't have to go back anytime soon, even though I miss it greatly. I miss Eric a lot. After all the weirdness I went through (that of course he doesn't know anything about) I landed at a place where he's really just a great positive person in my life and I miss seeing him. He's safe and staying away from people in his apartment in the Bronx.

I miss my friends, I miss dance comps, I miss dance class, I miss the end of her senior year, I just miss so much. I can't tell you how much it means to have the continuity of this group who have been "virtual" the whole time. Although I don't think of you as virtual at all!! This is the end of 7 weeks working/living like this.

I'm taking tomorrow and Monday off. I have a few client things to do, but I also really just need a break from the full time gig. I figured out the other day that in the last year (I started May 20th), I've taken 9 days total off. Nine days in a year. I think it's time to take a short vacation.....even if I don't go anywhere.

I love you guys!!! Stay safe and healthy.

Your guysí projects sound like a lot of fun. :) Iím not creative either, Laurie, so we can watch instead. :)

The best are videos of Amelia - sheís becoming a very good dancer - but hereís few pictures. Her and her dad found Spot in her book, and then just a happy baby when waking up.

RE reopening - all of this is so frustrating. If we had taken this seriously months before we didÖ if we had freaking testing up at the levels it needs to be atÖ weíd be in a MUCH safer place to reopen. As it stands now, Amelia wonít be going back to daycare anytime soon (closed through the end of June at a minimum) and my office just decided not to renew their lease. Itís weird to think that I wonít be going back to the old officeÖ While our sales are down, itís not b/c weíre remote and weíll be one of the last businesses going back to in-office work.

I really miss seeing people. But whatcha gonna do.

My MIL is going to help out with the kiddo starting next week. Right now we have an every-other-day thing going, which isnít ideal for Mikeís work schedule (or really mine either, if weíre being honest). Itíll be nice for Amelia and her Grandma to spend some time together - they donít know one another very well yet.

Just got her down for a nap so Iím gonna relax :D. When she wakes up, weíll eat and then go play outside.

xoxo

I'm so impressed with everyone's creativity. I'm lucky if I can get through a day without going completely off track. I have no motivation and no focus. I made a pact with an attorney friend that we would each do at least one hour of billable work every day. I can't believe how difficult it is.

Carol, your property is going to be beautiful. I can't wait to see the finished pics! Man, what a labor of love!

Jen, I love that your son is getting the "be outdoors and explore" bug. He will keep that his entire life. Good job, Mom!

Heather, I have several coloring books. I don't have the patience for them though. I have been doing coloring on my phone with several different apps. It keeps me busy and keeps my mind focused on something other than health pandemics.

Kourtney we need to see new pics of your girl!!

I totally get being mad because your family isn't taking this virus seriously. The only people I see without a mask are Dave and my son. I haven't seen my sister or anyone else in ages. I feel terrible that I can't see my mom. They are offering skype visits or window visits at her assisted living, but she can't see, so what's the point? She doesn't understand skype anymore, so it's better to just call her. She seems to understand what's going on and why we can't visit, but it doesn't stop her from being sad and asking for us. It's awful. I shudder to think how we'd all feel if she were to die before all this is over. But at least she's safe.

I really don't get the people who don't take this seriously. This virus is killing people and what.... they don't believe it? they don't care? It's a mystery to me. Ohio is talking about reopening on a slow, very graduated schedule. I'm not in any hurry.

I am still working, but it's been very slow. All the work I had pre-pandemic is either done now or in a stage where there's nothing to do but wait. So it's hard to stay focused on anything and not having any money coming in is more than a little anxiety inducing. I haven't received a stimulus check, but thankfully this is the end of the month, so I can do billing. I'm not applying for any of the loans because I already have enough debt. I did pre-apply for unemployment for 1099 workers and sole proprietors.

Ok, enough gloom and doom. It was a beautiful day today and yesterday. I am finally able to wear shorts! And I got my grass cut too. It's nice to sit outside and just look at the world. From a distance of course emoticon

I love to cook too! Iím going to make banana bread this afternoon for my hubby. He canít have the usual ingredients so Iíve had to teach myself whole new ways of combining ingredients to not get bricks. Itís getting easier with the KETO craze. He canít tolerate much sugar but he has to eat a ton of food a day (terrible issue, right?!). I got hazel nut flour and Iíll grind chia seeds for flour...maybe add some coconut flour. Lots of nuts!

I also bought 4 giant bottles of vodka to make Kahlua for Christmas...never too early to start Christmas gifts, right? Oh, speaking of which, Heather - did you ever tell me what ornaments sold?

Iíd come babysit...but itís not safe yet. 40? Brrrrr! Iím whining because itís in the 50s in the morning lol! Itís in the 70s now, but itís supposed to cool off (darn it!).

I had everyone I know save liquor bottles for me for art projects. I got a glass saw for Christmas and I wanted to make planters out of the fun shapes. I got tons of bottles from people! So, since Iím working on mosaics, I have been saving up sea glass but not nearly enough for mosaics and decided to break a bunch of the bottles and tumble them in my rock tumbler...toooo much fun! One of the mosaics I drew out is an octopus and I wanted to see if I could cut a circle within a circle to tumble. I have a drill press and I bought diamond circle drill bits in every size. It turns out I can, but itís super time consuming, so Iím thinking Iíll just Sharpie in the shading on circles Iíve cut. I had to improvise a water line (you should cut glass with water to save your blade) so I have a plastic container Partially filled with water with a small piece of 2x4 that I can put the glass on. Itís pretty low tech!

Yes I'm holding on to the promise of brighter skies tomorrow! This spring has been cold enough that we need to top off our heating oil again. Thankfully prices are low and we can afford it.

Carol, it was in the 40s this morning and RJ had that puffy coat on again!

Kourtney, I'd be upset too. My mom and her husband have continued visiting my aunt and uncle. My brother and I don't like it. She's just not getting how risky her behavior is. She keeps insisting she can babysit for us too *sigh*

I'd love a few hours of babysitting, but it's not happening any time soon.

Hi all!!! Here we are, the last week of April. Those of us in the northeast and midwest are pining for some sun and warmth......hang in there guys, it's coming!!! In fact, the forecast for tomorrow is very nice here so I'll hang onto that through this gray day.

We've also been doing projects! Nothing quite as ambitious as Carol's, but we're re-doing our mudroom which has needed it for years. We also had a dumpster delivered so hubby can clean out the crap that's all over our yard and in our basement. OK, not really all over the yard.......but around the edges and in the shed, etc.

I heard promising news that our Governor is formulating a plan for a slow reduction on the restrictions in place here. I hope fervently that the kids get back to school. NJ starts after Labor Day so we're always scheduled to go into mid-June. There's an outside chance we might get graduation after all. I'm trying very hard not to get ahead of myself but I sure hope the outside chance becomes real.

I can't tell you how much the thread from last week lifted my spirits this morning. Carol, I can't wait to see your bench done and the hillside with all the flowers!!! I think this forced shut down has forced me to find some artistic outlet and I find it really is nice to color. My outlet creatively has always been cooking, and I still love that, but it's fun to do other things too.

Work day is starting!! I'll walk at lunch on my treadmill.

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day!!!
