What a great idea! That is so fun! Jay was in OK...so not so easy. Casie was in Monterey, so we’d go visit, but never unannounced because she was so often adventuring on the weekends between diving, rock climbing and backpacking. Lol - she became the TA for the diving program so that she could get free dives! Always Casie thinking. When her boyfriend was here (also s master diver) he did Monterey for the first time and was scared he’d freeze to death in a 7mm suit. He survived and was enthralled by the seaweed gardens and their inhabitants.

We got great news! Our Elkhorn Slough fixed the road so kayaking is about 5 minutes away!!! I am down 25 pounds! Woo hoo. This intermittent fasting and KETO is so easy! I will never have to be fat ever again!

Today I set up our brand new tile saw and cut a bunch of 1” tiles for our new bathroom floor. Then 3 yellow jackets were coming around me and I freaked ( having recently been stung by seven)...so Tom cut a bunch of tiles... not the same experience, but whatever.

I love that medly story! I was the same, just so slow at breaststroke it was painful. I only competed until I was about 12 as my parents wouldn't support year round swimming which I needed to to do be able to compete at the older levels. My last year swimming I started the IM and I just loved it, until breaststroke. Sometimes, because it was only 25 yards of each stroke, I could get far enough ahead in the first two that even tho I lost some ground on breaststroke, I could come back and win or place because my freestyle was so fierce. I miss competing!!!

We're off to visit Sydney this weekend. Shhhh don't tell anyone. We're not going on campus, we're going to visit the area and have her come see us off campus. I can't wait!!!

That's funny! The opposite of a ringer lol

We've had a few fun encounters with nature this week... A cicada, a tree frog, and so many butterflies!

Yay for turtles! It's not surprising you have a fish baby, right? Both of mine competed in high school.

My son sucks at breaststroke and at one competition where our team was killing the other team, they put him in on the medley so we wouldn't get the points because everyone knows he can't do breaststroke...he was a full length ahead of everyone after the first freestyle lap and then a little more than a lap ahead after butterfly and then he hit breast and the others started to catch up and then pass him. You've never heard such a loud cheering section for anyone, ever. He finished dead last to the roar and cheering of the crowd - lol. He enjoyed it immensely, got out and bowed. I was laughing so hard I was crying.

Enjoy that vacation!

Carol, I heard about the efforts to work with indigenous practices and I hope it works!

Last year RJ went right for the water at 8-9 months old, but he hadn't seen the ocean since last year so I wasn't totally surprised by his reaction. He runs right into creeks/puddles/ponds/pools though with only hesitation for the cold water lol

Today we went for a little hike instead of visiting my nieces as planned. (The youngest was a bit under the weather.) We saw a turtle which was really cool and enjoyed some creek time

That's awesome! Have a very nice, relaxed time!

I put together 4 sawhorses and painted them. If they are dry, I'm going to use them and start cutting my foam for making two 16 foot planters for either side of my arbor. I have to put everything in gopher boxes, so I thought making above ground planters would be easier and I'll use metal mesh at the bottom so the roots can go down further. It will be fun. I'll finish the foam with a pretty foam coat...maybe the one that looks like cement and color it.

Hi! I'M ON VACATION!!!!! Had a very rough work week last week getting ready for it, but I am ON VACATION and looking forward to doing *nothing* for most of the week :). Reading, tv, naps, maybe a few productive things around the house.

xoxo

I hardly heard from my son when he went off to Oklahoma, but Casie I heard from all the time...still do. If she goes to try on clothes she'll text me pictures and ask for my opinion - lol. I like it. But both Jay and Martino (my Italian son) are not good at keeping in touch. We did WhatsApp with Martino yesterday, which was really nice. He's gotten an internship with a university in Vancouver, Canada...but he has to work remotely for now. He may get to come over in January, depending on the virus. The good news is that he gets paid at the rate it would take to live in Vancouver and Bologna, Italy is much cheaper.

Jen - I had to laugh at your description of your son and the waves. Be careful what you wish for - lol. My son, starting at about nine months would run for the water and into it. I let the waves (small ones) crash into him, hoping to instill some healthy care...but no, he would just laugh while coughing up the water. Sigh...both kids were super scary in water. They said at the time, don't teach them to swim when they're under a year, but I had to...and so did my mother with me so I guess we know where they got it from.

My iPad should finally be back today or tomorrow and I'll post my before and after pics! Our art room isn't finished but we'll be ready to have an inspection on the rough in this week! I found a soaking tub that is 26 inches deep! I can't wait to have a nice soaking tub! The truss company made the trusses a little different than the plans which called for a 5 x 7 storage area up above. They suggested they could make it bigger and we just had the framer build a room up there that is 7 x 11! It's awesome!

We have a very smoke filled life right now. Fires are burning to the north, south and west of us! We may have more lightning today - send good vibes this way because we couldn't stand more fires. Two of the areas are so steep and dense that there's really nothing to be done except to try to save houses and buildings. Trump says it's because we haven't cleaned our floors...but what he doesn't seem to get is that most of that land is federal...which means he's not doing a good job - lol. California has been working with our indigenous folks to learn from them how they burn areas safely, which I think is great!

Hi guys!! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I swam both days and I can already measure some improvement over the first time I went a few weeks ago. Also, it just feels great!!

It'll be a busy week so that's good. And then this weekend we're going to visit Sydney!! Haha. She's facetimed me almost every day that she's been gone and now she says it's ok to come visit. Maybe this won't be so bad afterall!!

Jen, I'm glad you got some beach time over the weekend!

Have a great day!!!
