Jan - I think that makes total sense!!! Hugs and hoping things even out soon. We are really lucky to be able to think about it now. And there isn’t some magical time difference between kids. Hugs.

Bigger house and growing family! Awww that's such exciting stuff, hard work but fulfilling work. I do hope we can meet up and let the kids play once things settle down again.

The thought of growing our family keeps popping into my head, but we've agreed not to make any decisions for a little while longer. I just can't imagine it being possible with how tight things have been financially, and that makes me sad... But I don't know how well I could do with the art business until I really give it a try. I've been slowly building momentum the past few months, I just gotta keep going. And after some time, maybe growing our family won't seem so impossible. Or it won't feel like the right thing to do... Which is why no decisions can be made yet lol

Kourtney - Moving to a bigger house will be super nice! Its great that youre taking stuff out of the house. Staging really, really helps. Weve sold our last four houses on the first day and the realtors love what we do. We take everything personal down - pictures and stuff, paint walls in current color trends and put planters or vases that are the trend. We also try to make it appealing to general tastes to cover as many people as possible.

Heather, its GREAT to hear about the new situation, I didnt realize that she was going to end up as the CEO - even better for you! Im sure everything shes doing right now is all through a political lens.

Im working through a political process with this new company because their CFO is an idiot and he really dislikes me. He dislikes anyone who is competent. I told the owner before I took it that the only way Id come help him was if I didnt answer or have to deal with the CFO...get that out of the way before I walk in haha. We were trying to get a chunk of work done before Monday, but Im having trouble getting on the remote. Im going to blast through some (to me) really simple stuff that will increase their productivity immediately. A simple Access import program will save them three-quarters of a person the day they start using it hehe...its so fun!

Look at this ridiculousness! Halfway through November and my poppies are blooming again?!

So much news and activity. I'm so happy to see Laurie and Kourtney here.

Laurie, I'm so sorry. Just echoing what's already been said in that this is the safest place I have in my life and we are always here and keeping you and everyone in my heart. I hope you find the right counselor to help you. I know, having dealt with depression myself, that you can get through this and I also know how hard it is. Please come here and share and know you won't get platitudes that are so unhelpful. You'll just get some love.

Carol, as Kourtney says, you're not very good at retirement. :) Good for you!

It's been an insane few weeks at work, but good. New COO, Sasha, is proving to be terrific. We had a virtual happy hour for her on Monday evening at 5, and she unexpectedly showed up at our office which we are currently in the process of moving out of. She didn't know I was going to be there. She comes over and asks me when I'm leaving, and I tell her around 4 but not sure how that'll work with the happy hour and that I'll likely zoom from the bus. She says "why don't you come over to my place and we'll do the call together". She lives a short walk from the office, at 45th and 8th Ave, for those that know NYC. So I really can't say no, so I go. And there I am, in the picture that the whole company can see (all 25 or so ppl) siting right next to the new COO in her apartment . That was an interesting visual. And, as it turns out, totally deliberate on her part. When the opportunity presented itself she very quickly thought about how that could look and made it happen. I was really impressed. I'm the first outside hire from the parent company, and she's the second. She's about to be CEO after the current CEO, the one that sold the company to the parent, leaves at the end of December. That's not public knowledge yet but it will be soon. She's building a rapport with me and is pleasant but clearly strong and a good leader and I could just cry!! She comes to us from EY consulting so she knows how to run and build a consulting practice. Yay!! Now, if I can just get her to fix my salary.......one thing at a time. You know it just hit me that in some ways she reminds me of you Carol.

The new office is SO COOL!!! We just took possession of it yesterday. It's on Madison Ave between 40th and 41st. It's light and open and so pretty. We'll be in an office with a few other companies that are owned by the parent, and so that'll be nice to have some colleagues and build relationships across companies.

OK, clearly I could ramble on forever about my job, but as we've noted, it's been a long slog to get here and I'm truly happy.

Sydney is home. We were supposed to get her this weekend but she called Tuesday for us to come get her sooner. Cases are spiraling up at Syracuse and she wanted out. All classes are remote anyway. So she's home a week and a half early and that also makes me happy!!

Having a quiet morning here catching up with you guys, doing a little work, and then maybe meeting up with Eric, my friend from work, and his friend at a local winery. It's chilly but bright and sunny.

Have a great day everyone!! This week I'll remember to start a new thread on Monday. :)

Jen - it’s been so funny watching you guys’ adventures! Hope we can meet up for a play date once this *gestures around* calms down.

Carol - lol you are not good at retiring ;-) but enjoy!

Heather - glad to hear things are going well and that Sydney is home.

Laurie - I’m really proud of you for considering therapy. I think it will definitely be worth it. If you want tips on how to find someone who’s a good fit, I’m your gal! I’m so sorry to hear about your family’s loss. I’m glad you could be there and it sounds like you gave her the support and space she needed and will continue to do so. Hugs. Miscarriages are awful and 20 weeks is heart wrenching.

Glad it’s the weekend! We have a busy weekend full of house stuff prepping to move. We are planning to move a town over so we can have a bigger house for the same money about, that way we have room to keep growing our family :). Not sure how long all of this will take but fingers crossed all goes smoothly. Mike has been doing a ton of work around the house, small fixes and paint touch ups and whatnot. I’ve done some packing of excess stuff (to make our current place more spacious looking for buyers) and I’m hoping to finish the first floor this weekend.

xoxo

Hi guys! I have been missing a lot! My life has gotten pretty crazy the last two weeks, but its great to hear from Laurie and Kourtney! And yay for a happy job, Heather!

Not landscaping...Ive been negotiating with a new company to go help them out! I officially landed the gig! They are over half billion a year in sales so its a very large undertaking ... but I decided if I cant be traveling I might as well be making a bunch of money, right? Ive upped my fees and only waiting on my laptop to be set up to start the process of redesigning their software set up, process improvements and training. I actually already start training the gal that is the head of the development team. So today is the calm before the storm starts on Monday!

Im sorry to hear of the weight gains, but you know how to get those unwanted pounds off and we are all here to support each other! I am continuing with KETO and intermittent fasting and I am continuing to lose weight. I am so thrilled that it hasnt stopped, which is my usual experience with dieting. My body always seems to find a way to fight it, but this has been the best and most successful deal in my life! I actually think that I may have found a live long solution...but its not over yet, so well see. My legs, face and shoulders are as thin as they will get. I still have a tiny bit extra on my arms and my belly is not flat yet. Since my issues with food are not emotional, the pandemic and this ridiculousness that was our election havent created any stoppages with the diet protocol.

Laurie, yes, we are a very closed bunch which is why we all love this space...its completely safe. I cant imagine going through a miscarriage at that late stage! My heart goes out to you and her family! Going back and spending time with her is a great idea. I hope you are able to make a pile of money to make it easier! Getting therapy should be super helpful and I happy to hear that youre going that route.

Kourtney! I love that your little angel is starting to be able to have conversations! Sometimes that can get exhausting but it sure is fun! Ill have to get on facebook and see pictures!

Jen - I will be out there landscaping for the next three days before the avalanche of work hits. Ive been crazy busy with another client, but that is almost done...though Ill need to go down to LA and look at his mechanics shop to set up a system there. Ill have to look at pics on facebook for your outside pics too!

Heather - Its awesome that you (finally) found a great fit for a job! That has been one long, hard pull for you and you so deserve this! AND to have a female COO, even better.

Aww Laurie, my love to you and your daughter. A miscarriage at that stage must have been so traumatic, I'm so sorry.

I think a counselor is a good plan to find your way through the emotions. I hope you find some healing.

Carol must be buried in landscaping... I hope everything is going well out there!

It's good to hear from happy people!

Heather, I am so happy for you that you have finally landed where you want to be. It was a long, grueling four years. I'm happy you'll have Sydney home for Thanksgiving too.

Kourtney, long time no see! That baby girl of yours must be growing like a weed. Talking in full sentences even! How come you're selling your house? You haven't been in it that long, have you? Where are you moving to?

Jen I love seeing your pics of you guys playing outside. He always looks so happy!

My food has been so so also. It seems like a make some headway, then it all sets backwards. I'm trying Noom right now, but I really don't like it. It was expensive and doesn't have anywhere near the options that Sparkpeople has for free. I need to do something. I think I hit 200 in October (not sure because didn't have access to a scale, more on that below) I've never been that heavy before. Combination of COVID, depression, and non-motivation, I think.

I spent most of October in South Carolina. I'm not putting this out there on Facebook, but I know I can trust you guys to keep it to yourselves. My daughter had a miscarriage at 20 weeks at the beginning of October. It was a horrible, tragic experience. That's why I was there for most of October.... she needed me, and I needed to be there. We both finally needed to go back to work, so I came home on the 25th. She started back to work three days before I left. This is out of my wheelhouse, and she tends to bottle things up anyway, so I don't know how to help her when I can't be there. Plus my own grieving.... We're going back there for Thanksgiving, so at least I'll be able to see for myself how she's doing.

Looking back over the last couple years, I seem to have experienced more loss than I realized and I'm not really processing it. I'm setting up to talk to a counselor after the first of the year. I think it's feeding into my depression, and I REALLY need to feel better.

That's what's at the forefront for me. Work is slow, rest of my family is the same, you know, just kinda hanging in.

Good morning, so nice to hear happy updates from you both! I've been spending lots of time outdoors with the kiddo lately. He's picking up more words every day!

I'm very relieved at the weekend's news but also still wary about the next 2 months. It's been cool and exciting seeing all the activity around my home town for sure!

I've had more good food days than bad recently, so I'm hoping that I'll finally turn that tide. I put on quite a bit of weight since covid and it's gonna take a while to set that right.

Hi! Long time no talk! Hugs.

I’m doing pretty well.
- Work / life balance is going alright and a project I’m finishing up finally is wrapping up nicely. My boss comes back from Mat Leave Monday and I’m a big nervous about that (it’s been kinda nice w her gone tbh...).
- I’m mostly happy w the election (and worked hard towards it / will continue for GA runoffs) and having that at least partly behind us is a comfort.
- Amelia is doing very well. She’s happy and sweet and working hard on sentences (dada sit over there).
- We are putting our house in the market after thanksgiving so lots of work going on around that.
- I’ve been working out regularly and that feels nice. Food is so so (focusing on cooking more) but I’m not focused on weight right now.

And...I think that’s all my updates!

xoxo

Hi all! Clearly I've been busy!! Work is very busy, but so exciting with our new COO. I'm thrilled about her!! She's going to bring life an vitality to our company and that's a GREAT thing!!

On the personal front, I realized over the weekend I've put on 15 pounds since August. I guess I put on the freshman 15 even though I didn't go to school with Sydney!!! Focus now on making better choices.

Sydney's doing great at school but is coming home a week earlier than planned. Syracuse had been doing really well with Covid cases but they are starting to see a lot more spread and if the kid gets it, she has to quarantine at school for two weeks and so she'd miss Thanksgiving! We're figuring out today how we're going to get her home by this weekend. Just have to plan the logistics.

For the friends on here who have hung with me over the last four plus years of my career odyssey I am just going to say I have finally landed in the right place with an amazingly bright future in front of me. I could cry with joy!!! Thank you for all of your love and support, it has really meant a lot to me.

Maybe I'll even make it to the pool again soon!!!
