Okay, we will figure it out. I only saw a few there. Hope more come. So I think I told you our brothers pastor called, so glad, so we can proceed to get things going and completed. I had been trying to get hold of people for weeks and no one called back.

Sue you could always put it at the beginning of your post until people get used to the names.
There are members of groups on SP who never give their name.....maybe because SP is an open website so security can be an issue. We've had times when we've made this group 'private' to protect a member.

Cheri, where is the prayer part on the page, I couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks

I think we should use both names at the top, so people know who we are.

I am seeing some too although it is strange to see actual names and not Spark names.

Sue I sent you a sparkmail....Cheri has already started the group on fb.

Personally I don't think any form of communication is 100% private but as I don't really get heated about certain subjects although I enjoy a discussion it has never made waves.
Hope to see you there.

Yes I am. Shoot me an email in SP and I will give you my name.
The reason I would rather talk though email or other sources, it’s more private.
Also FB is not open to people having opinions that are not liberal in various ways. I wrote down your contact

Livelygirl ~ I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your brother. My condolences.

Today was my Lymphatic exercise class online and my Gyne Sisters Group online as well. It went well, I emailed everyone yesterday and had 3 of us in attendance plus the social worker. I am worried about a couple of the people as I have not heard from them in several months. Their cancer had spread and they were on experimental drugs. I need to contact them by email and see if they are OK. Cathy and Jennie, as well as Tammy are in that situation.

Cut out 23 neck pillows, but had a rotary cutter accident, so I can't do dishes for a while. Distracted cutting. I should have known better, trying to do a "Craft and Chat" online and use the cutting tool at the same time, laid it down and didn't pay attention where it was when I smoothed out some fabric. Could have used a stitch, but have butterfly bandages in the house-just had to wait a while for it to stop bleeding! OUCH!

Going to do some catch up on Bible Study that already ended -they say the video on the Review is really good, and relax after I tidy up the dining room table and get it ready for sewing. Will start that in a couple days. I need more ribbon-good excuse to go to Hobby Lobby!

Just remembered! I have homework to do for a "Writing my story" class tomorrow afternoon after our Chiropractor appointment. Better get to that first (before the Bible Study). Need to find my old writing class materials!

I have started a small Facebook page for my Conservative Christian GroupFriends - message me on Facebook if you are interested.

Sincere condolences Sue for the loss of your bother. I know it's always a shock and hard to have to sort out the arrangements too. Praying for your family.

Babette, I have to agree that I'm dubious about what happens with our data etc too.
It does seem hard that international members will be excluded but as another member said to me, maybe those rules will change later on. But without the 'groups' it could never be replicated.

I've been busy answering so many sparkmails from members on lots of groups. Everyone is in shock.
In my own experience members have started moving onto other places to try and stay in touch.

thank you for sharing your information Janet. I wrote it down. I'm still trying to work it out, what I will be doing. Man, I was on Spark almost everyday. I will miss it so very much. You know Spark helped me not fall completely off the wagon, in thinking of moving and what I put in my mouth. It was also good, when I moved across the country, although I did not get newsletters for awhile.

Any one in the group wanting to stay in touch, shoot me an e-mail.

I got a bit of a shock yesterday, so climbing back on the horse again ( think I skinned my bottom). I got a call from a city member, informing me that one of my brothers passed away. He was trying to reconnect with his family and make things right.

He went into cardiac arrest. Sad he was alone. Most have moved away, except for my sister.

I have to make some hard phone calls away today about his possessions, remains, finances

Thanks Janet. I love having friends from "Jolly Old" (that's what my husband calls England...Lol). I've visited many times in my youth and I've always loved it!

Yeah...I'm sad that all the international Sparkers get shut out of the new site/app. I don't know if I want to try it since it is geared towards corporations monitoring their employees. I don't think I would feel comfortable with the information being shared by a city or company and I think it's weird that only the U.S. is now able to use it. But...I'm kind of paranoid in that way. Lol

Thanks Babette I'm added you as a friend on facebook.....I'm Janet Isaacs, for anyone else who is there too.
I'm also on My Fitness Pal janetisaacs4529 (but I only track my weight daily)
Instagram success64 (but I only share pics of my food daily)

The article from SparkGuy was a good read and we can see there has been a lot of financial implications to his decision.

The bottom line for me is that I'm British so NO ENTRY for me and so many other nationalities on the whole of Spark world.

Twenty years is a longtime for a free website to be run for it's members so I'm grateful for that much.

I have been asked for my email address by some members, it is
janet.isaacs@hotmail.co.uk

attn : ladies

I just read Elizabeth's link she sent. She had sent another one and it just had a list of motivational articles. Today was the first day I discovered Spark People was shutting down. I have to go back and read that material they sent. It says its free but its a business account. So maybe people will use it for their workplace and clubs. I do not think it will have the separate groups like this one.

I figured they were hurting because of Covid, and obviously there is WAY less action here than previously.

I know there are boards online that are not FB. There is fitness pal. I will investigate. And there is still email, text, phones.

Boo hoo. I have been on Spark since 2011.

Let's see what we can figure out.

I encourage you to send this article to your groups. Since it has not been on the Spark Newsletter, I do not think many people are aware of this.

Livelygirl2

PS. I really liked how they did a bunch of incentives, like challenges, points, prizes before, ect.

I suppose I will try out the new SparkAmerica and see what it is all about, I will see you on facebook Janet, but will miss my CWO50 friends ....

Wondering what the new one will be like, but if I can still track it is worth it for me...sad that all of our info will be gone and I need to start favorites all over, etc.

Life changes, doesn't it!

I am going to be busy in the next few weeks, as I agreed to cover the church office while the secretary that replaced me is on vacation. The secretary that shared her job has quit and so there is no one else to do it really. It's been a couple years so I will have to have a refresher course with her before she leaves.

Lots of appointments interspersed within those days as well, so it will be interesting. Still trying to downsize my home - need to do some selling of collections my DD doesn't want, etc. Retirement sure is busy! I do online exercise classes, but sure wish they would bring back my water aerobics classes!

Of course, that will just make my life busier! LOL. Need to cut out some more of the pillows I make for cancer patients after breast cancer surgery...they are running out at the hospital. The lady that used to do them on a large scale lost her battle with cancer a few months ago. Trying to keep up with what she was able to do!

Well, I need to go set up my dining room table to sew!

Glad we still have until August..........let's make this time count!!

HI Ladies, I've had a catch up read and as always will be praying for the needs and those silent ones that only the Lord knows about. emoticon

We're both well and the weather now has been very hot, so it's been lovely to BBQ and sit in the garden.
As we won't have any holidays we've decided to drive somewhere for the day and enjoy that this summer.
Hopefully soon the sea will be warm enough to go swimming in. We live so close to it now.
I can't believe that we've lived here for a whole year already. How quickly the time seems to pass....

Keep safe and well everyone. emoticon

looks wonderful getting to connect with loved ones.

I said a prayer for that family. Oh my gosh, when it rains it pours. I have felt that way off and on with all the family remember battling something.

Its usually been my husband's family. But over the weekend, my brother went to the hospital last Wed. He got several things going on. So my sister went to see him a few towns over. There was a traffic jam and now her teenage daughter got another ear infection. I'm wondering if she needs tubes.

Anyhow, grateful we can pray for each other.

Cheri*Ann I am so glad that you were able to spend time with family, especially your daughter. Although understandably exhausting, I am glad you were physically able to do both events in one day. It is good to take some time off now to regroup. I pray you find peace after this storm in your life.

Well, the funeral for my FIL is over, there is supposed to be a Memorial Service at a later date, but I will not be at all surprised if that doesn't happen. We will see. It was good, Dan's prayer was perfect, and his nephew did a poem about the funny things Dan's Dad used to do and say. A perfect mix of serious and funny.

Then I came home and got changed to go to my brother's retirement party. Got to see my Mom and Dad, and my siblings, even the one from Southern IL. Several nephews were there that we don't often see, so I was really glad I went, even though it made the day hectic. Got to spend the day with my daughter at the funeral and the retirement party, and it's always a good day when I see her! I left at about 8pm, most everyone was still there, but it was getting super chilly and I was exhausted, still exhausted yesterday so we just watched church on the computer.

Will get my workout in and then a nice long hot soak! Got my Bible study done-the book of Matthew. With Dan's Dad dying I had just stopped doing it, which means I had to finish up 2 of the lessons, and then I still have 2 lessons to do by Tuesday! That will be the last lesson and the review. Looking forward to being freed up to read some books on my own. I have so many -Stumbling into Grace by Lisa Harper is the next one I want to read-I have several of her books and several Bible Studies by Susie Larson that I bought a long time ago, but didn't have time to read while doing the other intensive study by The Village Church.

So back to decluttering and trying to figure how how I want to sell some of my belongings. I passed on a lot of shoes I don't wear, and hopefully our nephew is going to come and take some reptile habitats and a fishtank or two.

I joined a sales site on Facebook, so first I will try and sell the 4 ft high birdcage that is in our basement.

I am going to create a separate account for those monies, because once I start selling I don't want any exposure to our other accounts.

Today is a relaxation day-although I am going a workout, and going to try and finish up a chapter of the Bible Study.

I need to go to the Cancer Center tomorrow and get the neck pillows I dropped off there and stuff them if they are not already done. The hospital is asking for them, and the person who I thought was going to stuff and sew them has compromised lung function so she cannot stuff them. Then I will at some point try and sew about 30 more and get them done so we have a small supply for them. Still making pom poms for our "Presents for Patients" pom pom Christmas trees we will help them craft in December. In a couple weeks it will be time to send out another round of cards for the Cancer Center, shut ins at church, and family and friends who are struggling.

A family from our church had their entire home burn down a few weeks ago. They are staying in a hotel for another week and then they will be in a rental. Please pray for the Felker family. They have lost a baby, she's had thyroid cancer and another gynecological cancer just recently, he's lost a couple jobs unfairly due to injury, but is working now. They have gone through an awful lot ...

Well, I need to get off of the computer and get my day started- it's after noon here! I haven't eaten anything at all yet either, which has been a big part of my problem lately. Staying up too late, eating too late, and then eating late at night! Not good! I need to get a schedule going~

OUR BODIES ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY GHOST, BUT WE WILL HAVE A SPIRITUAL
BODY WHEN THE LORD CALLS US HOME, THEN WE WILL BE WITH OUR LOVED ONES WHO GONE BEFORE US. THANK YOU JESUS.

There are verses that talk about putting on Christ and putting off bad habits.

And being clothed in the robe of Christ righteousness.

Our new bodies will be wonderful.

I agree Livelygirl2. I am not thinking the person is still here but I am keeping their memory alive for myself and others who might see it. It is good to take advantage of any opportunity to show our faith that our loved ones are actually still alive but in a different place. My Mom used to say her body was "her old dress" that she would get rid of and be given an eternal body in heaven.

How very wonderful that your friends may come and live near bye. I hope, indeed, it happens.
I think that is lovely your family member wants to do this I always thought the person is not there anymore, but now that we have moved, we have been near enough to go to my in-laws graves and my husbands brothers. I do feel encouraged when I see flags, flowers, notes, stuffed animals, and such. What encourages me more is when it says something about God, faith, heaven. I also like it when it tells something personal about the person.
I think the main thing is to not be forgotten.
I hope when people read a brief testimony, they will want to get right withGod and love Him

Today we met some friends we have known since our kids were little but have not seen them since co-vid started. We ate breakfast and were surprised when they told us that they are hoping to move to our town in the next few months. They are having a house built in a beautiful area looking at the "monument" which is a state park that has beautiful rock formations. We would be so happy if their plans happen. They are about our age and will give some maturity to our little church that has a lot of campus students in it.

We took my mother-in-law to two different cemeteries to put flowers on family grave sites this afternoon. I feel bad that I am not able to do this for my family but we are too far away to be able to do this. I am not sure how many young people are interested in keeping up this tradition as we older people age and can no longer do it. It was interesting to see how many flags were in the cemeteries honoring those who fought in the wars.

This evening we went shopping for camping chairs since we are meeting as a group outside for church services. We have some but they are so low and there are not strong arms on them to help me stand up. Right now we are using folding chairs until we can find some folding camp chairs to use.

Don't know how much I will be on he computer in the next couple of weeks-my
father in law died yesterday afternoon-so today was making arrangements. A long battle with Frontal Lobe Dementia is over-rather suddenly. He went downhill amazingly quickly. By the time we all made the half hour drive to the home, he was already gone.

So both of my in laws are now gone. it will be a immediate family only service, and no clergy at all. My husband has been asked to say a prayer of some kind. Please pray for wisdom- he really is not wanting to do this, but we are the only ones of faith really in the family. It will be difficult for him to get through.

so my husband found some melatonin that melts under your tongue. I usually break in pieces. I take 1/2 or a 1/4 because it is 10 mg.

I also use valerian root or a blend... of such. Also Celestial Seasons has the bedtime extra strength...

Anyhow its not often I can not sleep, but I switch things, hoping it works better ( they are not habit forming at all, but sometimes using a product too often makes it less effective.

I hear melatonin is good for lots of things, but certain people get lousy dreams.

If you want specific info, send an email.

Certain products only work if they have a certain amount of the " the active substance in it". That means the USP that is certified it has X amount of what makes it work.

For example I know they often use very expensive brands for studies sometimes. The cheapest products either have extra fillings, or like stems instead of the leaf, and other items.

I used to get a product that was " buy one, get one free ". That was Walgreens or Longs. Often they did not carry the certain item . The larger bottles are cheaper at times and other times not. I did not like using fillers ( this is why they say take 1-4 at times ). It does not always have the certain amount.

But there is a certain inexpensive brand that I would use sometimes.

The brands that they use for the studies are often tested many times. The results are more predicable, but it kind of depends if you are taking it for something serious. However, sometimes you do not have to take so much.

Once I bought some essential oil at cost from a friend, it was 45 dollars which I felt was crazy. That is her cost. However, since one only uses 1-3 drops, it last me for several years.

I do not think they all work magic or on for hundreds of reasons.

But I had colds, flu, yeast , bladder, problems, and now with those and one other item, went away.... or things last way shorter.

Loving all of the good news!

I have been doing a lot of yard work lately. DH has been late getting the air conditioning going this year and I am feeling it! My sleep rhythms are off as well. I need to get some Melatonin ASAP! Mine expired in 2011 when I was going thru menopause symptoms! I am now headed towards 70 and DH did research that says take Melatonin. I must say it worked at 4an this morning! I probably will take a nap-which they say NOT to do, but the neighbors are having a graduation party that we are invited to tonight, so I am sure it will be going late into the night! We of course will come home at a decent hour because I want to go to church tomorrow in person.

Found out that I am on a med that causes weight gain-have gained 5lbs so I need to really work at losing that and keeping on track to lose the rest! My cancer journey is going well- I just had an appointment with my Gyne Oncologist and he says everything looks good and I can go to annual or 6 month appointments. I chose a 6mo first and then will change to annual appointments. Hopefully everything will be unexciting from here on in. I really need to start losing and not gaining though. I have to be careful because I do have a hernia, but since I ended up with AFib during the last hernia surgery (all due to the surgical sites from the hysterectomy and exploratory surgery) I am not in a hurry to repeat that procedure, and the Dr is not concerned.

Trying to get on and communicate with my teams before I go out in the heat and do yardwork again today. I cannot do that on my phone lately. I don't know why, as I used to be able to-frustrating!

I need to start giving blood again! I got out of the habit when I could not donate because of cancer treatments. Now I am able again-so I need to!

It is almost bedtime and I am just getting on to post. We traveled over the mountain today (4 1/2 hour drive) to our retirement home. We did have some construction delays that added 30 minutes to our trip. It also rained on several occasions. I am trying to not have snacks between meals. I did have a snack yesterday because I donated blood and they want everyone to stay in the building for 15 minutes afterward and eat a snack and drink water. I did well with the snack -I only had almonds and water. I do not feel tired after donating like some people do. I actually feel energized but I think it is emotional because I feel I can save lives by doing it.

Hi Sue:
I'm praying that your son would be receptive to a "stranger". Maybe it would be easier for him to open up about things.

God does work in mysterious ways and is working in your son's life! emoticon

Its wonderful to have to " good stuff " to share. Just goes to show if we do not faint and give up, some movement will happen.

I talked to a man last night that is in ministry , that said he would be willing to chat with our son, although he lives in our state. He is managing several group homes because he has found freedom in Christ.

He also gave me a referral to two counselors in the state he lives. It is a complementary service.

I will pray a few days until I give him this information.

It would be hard talking to a stranger, and since these are saved, no telling how he will react. But you never know what God will use. He is already using his three friends.

I would jump up and down, if they would all follow the Lord.

God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to preform. I really believe that he is starting to think twice....to some degree.

Lively: I am VERY happy. I'm very glad you were able to hear from your son. It seems he's moving in the right direction. Praying and Praising the Lord!

Sadie: He has decided to stay on in an apprenticeship role. He's currently on their worship team playing the guitar and singing. That is a huge thing since before, he always hated Christian music and listened to garbage.

Hello Everyone. I hope you ladies are all doing well. emoticon
So, I haven't seen my son in person in quite a while as he's been in a Christian treatment program for over a year. Because of the Covid lockdown, there was no visiting. Well, he called and said they were going to have a Family Day, so my husband and I will be able to give him a big old hug next Sunday! I can't wait. For such a young man (only 21), he has been on a very long journey with poor life choices but he is turning his life around with Jesus. Thank you Lord! emoticon

Linda ~ Congratulations on the Graduation!

LivelyGirl, I fully understand! Was so nice to see my daughter! She drove in from Chicago, and it was so good to see her-but she came late and I was exhausted and left before she did. We had been there since we got out of church.

Praying for rain for those who need it! We did have a couple days of rain lately, but the rain expected today did not come. We went over Sunday afternoon finally to plant as Mother's Day weekend was raining.

Today was Chiropractor and going through old cross-stitch patterns-I am getting old enough that I know I will not be able to do the work for too much longer.

Purging a lot of my belongings that don't fit or that I don't use anymore. It really is freeing, and I hope that will mean less work as I have less stuff to deal with!

I found a whole lot of material that I didn't know I had, so I guess I will be cutting and sewing more pillows to go underneath the arms of breast cancer patients after surgery. I will wait another week or so to start that. It all needs to be washed first as well.

I watched church on computer again, but have decided that as of next week we will be attending in person. I want to get back to normal again. It is just not the same.

I need to take better care of myself period...

It was good to have in-person church this morning. In our state most of the restrictions have been lifted so we can gather inside and outside without mask among vaccinated people. The stores and restaurants are able to make their own restrictions if they desire to do so. Our church still requires masks for safety of all the congregation. Our oldest granddaughter received her first covid shot today. She is 14 and has had some problems with the flu shot but the doctor said this shot is much different than the flu shot and she would be fine. So far all she has is a sore arm which is normal.

Today our daughter graduated with a Master's degree in Christian Counseling. It has been a long road for her since he needed to work at the same time as she was taking classes. I already have been reaping the benefits from her insights when I am not sure how to proceed in situations. Free counseling is a good deal!

Still praying for Daniel! We bought plants yesterday. Need to see if I can plant some of the things, it sprinkled this am, but seems to have stopped so hopefully the ground is not too wet! Going to try some herbs in my pots on the front steps, we will see if that works or not!

I have 4 pots on my steps, will post when they are all done. I have 2 large flower boxes as well that go on the front of the house, but the wood is not good anymore, so those will get emptied and DH will be making new ones at some point. No flowers there this year!

Tomorrow breakfast with friends and hopefully more planting. Then Sat and Sun planting at my parents new home. It is so sad passing by "the Farm" (the house and property they sold with a barn, guest house and big farmhouse) and seeing all of the flowers, she has hardly any at her new home, so we need to remedy that this year. Can't wait until fall to get some bulbs in the ground for her as well!

hi Cheri Anne,
Your doing some fun, and constructive things. I am proud of you, this is good.

I would like to do more for people, but I do not know so many here... But I will take a meal for this lady I know who had a knee replacement.

Its pretty exciting, to watch each day and seeing a tiny piece of green in the ground.

My husband say its my garden and he is not so into veggies. However, he is watching them potatoes, One of the pots was empty but I talked him into waiting a few more weeks. Now and behold to plants arriving in that brown void.

Our son's friend said Daniel got fluid in his belly once more. However, he is hoping maybe he can go home next week.

Praying for needs!

Janet ~ I hope things improve with your breathing and you have a good relationship with your Dr. going forward.

Welcome to all of the newcomers! This really is a good group of caring and praying women - so glad it is growing!

My Mom was in the ER again a few days ago-fell and thought she broke her leg. Thanking God she did not! So she is back home, not happy about her frequent trips lately though!

Bought plants today - hoping for planting weather hopefully tomorrow. I also have a lot of digging to do as for Mother's Day I am taking my Mom a lot of ground cover and plants from my yard so she can plant them at her new home. She always had such pretty flowers and ground covers and can't wait until she can see those things from her window again!

I have a lot of sewing to do as well. I pinned a lot of "neck pillows" today and they are ready to be sewn. They will be passed on to a couple of women who will them stuff them and sew them closed to be used as pillows underneath arms for breast cancer patients after surgery and distributed at the hospital by the Cancer Resource Center. My back can only take too much sitting and sewing any more-we are missing the leader of our sewing/creating group as she lost her battle with cancer a few months ago. She sewed non-stop for the group at times!

Well I need to get off the computer and get to bed. It is almost midnight again. I tell myself each day I need to get to bed earlier, and each night I stay up way too late! I need to just do it!

Good night all! Have a blessed tommorrow!

CheriAnn

Oh Cheri, so sorry to read about the parents of you and Dan. It's hard to deal with this aging factor. I know my two worry about me already!! Praying you get them comfortable and the med works for your mom.
A new car is a hard one....hope the funds soon clear.
Praying that Scott can find the right thing to do for his life. So sad he lost his mom.

Lively girl....good ideas for relaxing!
Praying your sons new port works alright for him.
You're right, cyber friends are the best. That was one of the reasons I joined SP. I was living in Spain and lonely for female company.

PTL SADIE IS ALWAYS HERE TO REMIND US TO LOOK TO THE LORD FIRST.

I've been quite poorly with my breathing. So disappointing as I've been well since last July. It was all because a medic tried me on a new inhaler, didn't control anything at all.
I really don't know my general doctor as with all this covid they can't see patients only speak to them on the phone. Anyway I had a long call with him this afternoon and got some issues cleared with him. Glad to say that after one year I don't need anymore iron tablets....real progress!!

Keep safe ladies and well. emoticon

This group is so encouraging! In spite of all our trials, we have our friends to hold us up in prayer when we need it.
