Plans for today are math class (which means quite a bit of walking to and from train and subway, so yay for exercise!) plus homework. Hopefully I'll get in some reading for fun too.

Had pizza last night, but picked the kind with a lot of protein on it, cheese and pure beef instead of the processed meats, so there's the iron and calcium.

Still in a very low energy phase, but going to keep up with water and food, and make sure to rest outside of the walking to get to and from school.

Was feeling low on energy on Friday, then got better on Saturday, was a bit more active than usual that evening, so have been resting again yesterday and today.

For food we've made it easy this weekend, most of it healthy choices, and I've managed my eight glasses of water every day.

My asthma is annoying today. Slowing me down. This too will pass. The weather is cooler today so that is a blessing.

Katrina - hang in there but don't hold in your feelings.

Linda - hard to believe someone actually liking their job..lol I used to like mine too (still do most times) but I get bored because we are slow this time of year. Just wish we'd get more work.

Didn't sleep well and my back is sore today from tossing and turning. Going to be a long day sitting if it doesn't ease soon...

Have a great Friday everyone!

Thanks. No he doesn't take it out on me. He's just stressed and sore. And I can feel it in the air. Tried to tell him today I need a hug and a good morning first thing. It's important. Hopefully he can start to understand. If not...

Got out and ran 5miles last night. Good thing too. This morning my sweet heart was in a bad mood. Instead of a good morning and a hug, I got ignored, and had to listen to him swear his morning away. Really upsetting. Even told him.

Guess I'm too sensitive to that sort of stuff.

Another day starting out real slow. I'm going to school, then doing a couple of errands and buying groceries. In the late afternoon and evening today, it's all about resting, cooking a healthy meal and resting some more.

Have a good day, all!

Did the walking today, however I had to cancel going to a parents meeting at the kid's school tonight. I'm feeling so beat, and it's clear that tonight is a night for resting.

Cooking some easy but good food for the kid now, and later for myself. Planning out our meals for tomorrow and Friday as well.

Hello Gini. Keep up the great work! I love walking but my feet don't. I try to get walks in on my lunchhour but often I pay for it later or the next day.

Hello all other DONE girls. I've been checkin in from time to time but not posting as often as I'd like. You know, life is busy and all...lol

Hi there. I'm new. I started doing some walking yesterday. I walked with WATP and around the house for a total of 1000= steps, can't exactly remember how many, Today O walked 2250 steps. According to WATP that is more than a mile. I am not sure about that but I do know I walked more steps today and that makes me happy. I am doing Weight Watchers online and since July I have lost 16 pounds. I had lost 1.8 more but got foolish last week and gained it back so I am at 16 pounds lost. Hope I can get to know some of you and finally be a Done Girl!

Back from a weekend away. Nutrition was a challenge as most meals were out but made the best choices possible. Walked lots so hope the exercise offsets the eating. Thought of you all often when I felt the need for inspiration to stay on track. The journey is so much easier at home where life is predictable but I sure enjoyed the time with family.

Hi everyone. I hope you all are having a good week :)

I'm on SSRIs now, so I may find that I'll have difficulty losing weight. Ugh, like it already wasn't hard enough for me :( But I'm still working hard to shred my body!

I did read your blog, Bird. Welcome back!

About the food tasting more when we are without all that sugar and salt, my experience is that food does indeed taste better/more. I can now appreciate the natural flavours instead of the salt or the sugar. Broccoli tastes very sweet when it's been steamed! This I hadn't noticed before.

It's not just you Ellejay I have started a low sodium diet and thought how bland the food would taste and surprisingly it doesn't. I can actually taste the food and it seems better to me too.

Has anyone noticed that when you eat properly, your sense of taste seems more sensitive? Food just tastes better to me. Is this all in my head? When I have my No Guilt fudge bar, it tastes wonderful. Before starting my "new lifestyle of proper eating", it tasted just okay.

@Angel: Why not do the Spark diet? It walks you through stage by stage.... The most important thing there is to measure your foods and make sure you are staying in your calorie range. It becomes clear pretty quickly which foods you can eat more of or not. IDK, that's just my opinion, and low-carb/Atkins diet would just be too, Idk... meaty for me! LOL emoticon

But good luck no matter what you end up doing. Reducing what you eat and exercise seems to be what most of the succesfull people in the Motivators for weight loss seem to do!

Hope everyone has an AMAZING holiday weekend. I'm actually looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow... I feel confident that I will have a loss and be one step closer to DONE!

Getting ready to go on a 5 week leave to hang out with my new little guy. Looking forward to getting into a routine for a walk/zumba workout that I can do with the baby. I have not been exercising as much as I had been and have not been to good with my diet either. Hoping the time off will help me get back into the swing of things!

I'm with Meraina on this one.

I ate less carbs last time I lost a lot of weight, but it wasn't anywhere as low as 20 a day. I was simply watching high-carb stuff like breads and pastas, and eating more protein and fresh produce. Now I watch calories and cholesterol and eat in the same healthy way, and it's slowly but surely working for me and I can do it for the rest of my life :)

Angel,
Low carb is fine as long as it it kept in check. By this I mean it is dangerous to stay in or under the 20 carb daily range that the Atkins book suggests for the first 2 wks of the diet. The harm comes to peopls that see how much weight they lost in that 2 wks and they want to keep losing that fast, so they stay on the 20 or less carbs daily. This will make a person sick. My MIL got Very Very sick doing that a few years back and had to go to the doc several times for blood work to get herself back on track.

If you do the low carb, do just that low carb, not the bottom of the range. Plus I have learned from my own experience that Atkins~low carb diet worked for me for awhile & then I gained all plus more back when I stopped doing it. Now I count my calories, watch my sodium & cholestorol, weigh my foods to make sure that I have an actual 1 serving size and it is working for me. PLUS this is something I can do for the rest of my life. So there is no stopping this to gain all that I lost back. It will remain gone, because I love the way I eat now.

Please be careful with any "Diet" fad you try. The best is to find what works for you, that you are happy in and can and will do for the rest of your life.

Hi Angel
I did Dukan for about 2 months of the start of my program, energy levels were great, I was not hungry, good weight loss I stopped due to pains in my lower back. I think it was too much protein for my liver...

Hope this helps, if you have further questions, please do let me know.

Kind regards,
Sabrina

Can you believe that I have just sat now and realized that I no longer buy precooked food at the supermarket / stores, unless I absolutely have no choice. In which case, I will do a yogurt (fat free) and salad with no dressing and just put vinegar / lemon or salt. Since being on a diet and excluding my road trip I have been to a restaurant on 5 occasions ( i have been on this new path since the 25APR, so you do the math). I used eat out at least 1 X week, excluding take out. I no longer eat at the cafeteria at lunch except for the diet coke or fat free yogurt I occasionally buy (I always come fully equipped for lunch / snacks). I always prepare my food and if I do not have veggies, will take a salad with no dressing. I have not bought anything to eat from the vending machine. I have become extremely picky about what I choose to put in my body and will usually read nutrition labels before I buy, and believe me I look at things beyond calories!!! WOW

Oh heavens, I'm tired now. Had math class for four hours, with two short breaks and a lunch break in between. It's fun because I'm grasping it, but very tiring.

After school I had to go do grocery shopping because my husband is working late today. Right away after that, I went home, tidied up some, put away the groceries, and then election workers came to our home so I could vote. That went quick, and the workers were nice and easy to understand.

Now I'm resting, and the plan is to continue doing so. Will probably be reading a bit, but only things that are pleasant. No more math or other straining thought work today. *shakes head*

So glad to hear from those affected by Hurricane Irene and the power w outages. Holding you all close.
Love to hear about those little steps. We all recognize that our journey is composed of lots of little steps. Some changes are harder than others and some just take time to get to as we work on the "bigger" issues.
Craving sugar tonight and trying to reason with myself that fruit will meet that desire.

Howdy everyone,

I see that we have more members who have joined our team since i have been away. So for starters I would like to say Hello and Welcome to all of our newest members. Its always nice to see new faces and I hope that we can all get to know you a little better during our challenges.

I know that i have not been very good in making time to do either of the challenges this season. I did want to pop in to give you an update on how I was doing at work and in life.

Work wise I have been doing amazing. I started out as a janitor and in the 3 months i have been with the company they know want me to start working my way up to a Lead position. I am excited to begin my new challenge and have been working 2 as hard to pick up on the ins and outs of what being a Lead means. It will still be the same hours as I am working now which is good because then I can still take care of my nephew as well.

Now for how I am doing in life. I am doing good. In the last 2 weeks I have gotten back on the wagon/horse and started making better choices in what I am eating for meals and snacks. I also have cut way back on my portion sizes and also on the amount of goodies i eat. I have been drinking anywhere from 5-7 glasses of water to.I make sure i take water to work and then drink the rest of my intake when i get home.. So far i went from being 193 back down to 188.8 pds. Now the only thing i need to incorporate into my day is exercise and i have not seemed to be able to find the motivation fairy to help with this.

Hello Done Girls! I haven't been getting on the computer so much. I think it's a good thing actually. Though I need my sparkpeople to stay on track (which I haven't been doing so much) I also have a hard time leaving the computer once I get onto it, so I've been doing more in general. I went to the track last night. I haven't been there for months. I only stayed for an hour, and I only got 2 miles in. I keep fighting with myself because part of me wanted to do a lot more miles than that in 1 hour, but the other part says you haven't been there for months and the best you've gotten was 4 miles in an hour, (about a year ago) and I should be happen that I was getting half of that done with all of the giving up I had done. I also keep telling myself that I should be happy that I jogged all the way around without taking a break. Back in high school, I played soccer. During the practices, we had to warm up before stretching by running/jogging around the track a full time. If we stopped or slowed to a walk, we had to do it again. I remember barely making it through that once when I was in the best shape of my life. I would always be so happy to get to stretching because I would be hurting and so out of breath that I needed the break from moving. Last night I did it, and though I took a break by walking around once afterward, I was still more active afterward than what I was back then. that has got be something, right? I'm hoping to go back again tonight. Maybe I can try to get one more lap in during my hour. I'm thinking about making a goal to get 1 more mile in my hour by vacation, but that is only 10 days away! yes, I did just have to look at the calendar and am now freaking out about everything I wanted to do before we leave! I guess I'd better go, but first great find BLEBJO! I LOVE those frappes at McDonald's. Does anyone have a diet friendlier version of those?!

Good morning Done Girls! I was displaced temporarily yesterday by Hurricane Irene when our power went out. Staying in a motel wreaked havoc with my meal plan so today I have to get on track again. Did anyone else experience Mother Nature's the way I did last week? First an earthquake, then the hurricane...thank God the tornadoes that were also around missed us!

Actually this was one of the last steps on my change of diet. See, I started out almost two years ago with cutting down on fast carbs, upping the protein and healthy fat intake, and working on the water intake. The iced coffee was the big thing for me, but now I've managed that too. Of course one can always get better - now it's about finding more foods to vary my diet with, within the limitations that allergies set.

That's great Blebjo! A little change here and a little change there and before you know it you've completely changed your diet for the better!

well, my fitness and healthy lifestyle journey keeps me on my toes.. This morning I got up at 6 am so I could drive a half hour to go cheer some friends running a half marathon. I've been given permission to start my running program but I have to be honest.. I really only half heartedly done the program. I've been skipping days.. I'm not going to be able to run a 5K next year if I don't get my ass in gear. So Mark (my DB coach and a great friend) suggested that I go cheer him and Chad on. He said that I might get inspired and may seriously start my running.

Well, he was right.. it was amazing.. you could cut the excitement with a knife. Even watching people finish their runs.. looking exhausted and spent but happy. It was amazing. One girl went back down the hill (the 10K and 1/2 had a uphill leg right at the end!) to run with another who was having problems finishing. Being there.. watching people.. I so want to be part of this community. I want it so bad, I can taste it.

Now, how would I track that in my nutritional tracker?

Joyce

Yesterday I made a conscious choice while at the grocery store. I _really_ like iced coffee. Before I used to get iced coffee powder that was mostly sugar and some aroma. Now I've cut that out and am getting Starbucks' Seattle Latte iced coffee instead. It has 70% milk, 20% arabica coffee and only 5% sugar. Per cup this becomes so much less sugar, and I feel good about this change.

Walked quite a bit this week, but have had to take it very easy Friday, yesterday and today. Got medications through IV on Friday (pain meds), which work the best when I rest for two to three days.

Hey ladies...Labor Day Weekend is near. If any of you watch NASCAR you will see that the ADVOCARE 500 is going to be Sunday Sept 4th. If any of you are interested in any of these products then contact me because I am an Advisor for Advocare. The products are amazing. The Spark helps me stay focused and gives me energy. The best part is it is an energy drink made of vitamins. It is amazing. Another thing to NOTE..our spokespeople aren't paid. They talk about ADVOCARE for free because they use the products and they truly love them. Anyway I hope you all have a great week!!!

After I joined this team, this is what have happened.

Hello team!!!

I am so sorry I had not post in about 6 days, but as some of you might know, I live in Puerto Rico a tropical area that had lots of Tropical Waves, Storms and Hurricanes. Well, last Sunday and Monday, we faced Hurricane Irene and we were left 5 days without electricity, so we were not able to do anything that required power supply.

My family and me are ok, only lots of branches and leaves in our yards, but PR had great damages with the 21.9 " of rain and the big floods all around the island. I did not have to deal with floods cause we live in a safe area in the Metropolitan area in San Juan City Capital.

I missed you all so much, I missed my special SparkPeople page, my Spark teams, my spark friends and all the daily sparkling around. I sure missed you so, so much, that i am happy we got the electricity back today!!!!! Yay!!!!
I am very happy and thankful to be able to come to SparkPeople, to my Spark teams and to my lovely friends!!!!! Looking forward to update you with my progress and to keep sharing with you.

Hi, new Done Girls! emoticon

I'm doing pretty well, even though (and partly because) I've been somewhat of a hermit.

I've lost almost eight pounds this month, which is something I've never done before without going on some crash diet. It's amazing and I can't believe it.

Now I just need to figure out what ELSE to do with my life.

Hey there everyone! I just wanted to come say hi and wish everyone a very happy Thursday!! I hope you are all doing amazing today! I have had a bit of a rough week. I gave into temptations on Tuesday night and am paying for it now. Seeing the scale go up was not fun. I am kicking myself in the butt now and getting back on track! I am trying to push to lose 3 or more lbs by the end of this month! I know I can do it, just got to stay on track! Looking forward to getting to my next goal!
Wishing you all the very best this week!!

It was my second day in school today. Am real tired now, but it's worth it. Will be resting up this afternoon and evening, and going through the stuff we've done in math class. I'm actually getting the basic things we went through yesterday and today.

Good Morning DONE gals!
I want to say thank you to all who "welcomed" me on my SparkPage. I felt so "loved"...lol.
I believe this team is for me, because I am DONE being that "fat" mom, wife, friend, and all around, person.
I have been on here for over 5 years, but this time I am putting my foot down and sticking with a "healthy lifestyle" plan, and I want you all to be there with me.

DYKT I am so done with letting what other people think determine what I do.
If other people think of me and are surprised by my weight gain, so what. It may be a point of conversation for a moment with one of their friends but it will be forgotten like yesterday's news. In a day or two, they will forget it and get on with their lives because it wasn't that important to them.
Proudly, I will not let their momentary surprise and their momentary gossip control my actions. From now on, I will do what is best for ME! Thanks to everyone for the posts that made me stronger, today.

Angel, I have the same problem I don't want to go back to my hometown cuz I'm embarrassed, but when I had to for a funeral several years ago, my true friends just
were happy to see ME! They did not care about the 100+ pounds I had gained since
leaving there. "Don't let your fears run your life, because if you do you might miss out on the opportunities that make life worth living" a quote to remind you of what's really important.

Hello ladies! the first thing I want to say is AMEN! to BEACH_BABY_82 about getting rid of the garbage in your life. I know the feeling of not wanting to let go when you know you should. I had a boyfriend years ago that cheated on me. I went to his house one time to surprise him, and he was with another girl. What did I do? I stayed to hang out, almost got into a fist fight with the other girl, and stayed will the guy for another 2 years! After we broke up for good, I found out that he had cheated on me with at least 12 other girls during our 3 year relationship. Granted I was young and stupid, but it hurts the same. Every once in a while I start thinking what he's up to, but I stop myself and say I have a wonderful fiancÚ that makes me feel like a princess and life is good. I couldn't honestly say that when I was with that guy so why even take my mind back there.
ANGEL0190 - I know it's very tough, we all have our weight hold us back from things, but this is your life and only you can live it! Real friends would love to be around you no matter your size. If they have a problem with your weight, I'm not sure how good of a friend that is. I also have time while I get ready for things where I begin to cry because no matter what I do, I can't feel beautiful. I normally get my tears out and say well, it is what it is and this is a one time opportunity and I don't want to miss all the fun things that are thrown my way. I just need to keep up with my work so that I will be a little bit smaller for the next opportunity life throws my way. Sitting at home and crying doesn't change things, it just makes you feel more upset in the end because you missed something. I can think of lots of things that I almost didn't go to because I was upset with my weight, but I went and though the pictures make me cringe, I had fun and I'm so happy that I sucked it up and went to them. You can do it! Nobody is stopping you but yourself! Maybe it seems like some of the things I'm saying is mean, but we're at war with ourselves here! We need to be a little brutal right? I make myself chuckle to think about the movie Braveheart where Mel Gibson's face is painted, and he's rallying his troops. He says, "They can take our lives, but they can never take our freedom!" So who cares about your weight when there is something to go out and enjoy! The past is the past and now's the time to start having fun and love the life you've been given. And I feel like people don't seem to be so big if they lift their heads up and smile! Have a great day ladies. I'm hoping to get some exercise in, but I have to make a hospital trip or 2 in. I have 3 grandparents in the hospital right now, so I think my main exercise will be running around trying to get stuff done!

Hello Ladies, Hope this finds you all doing well

I need your help! I am very upset with myself for letting my weight run my life!! This weekend a very special friend I have not seen in over 4 yrs came to town. I was ashamed of my weight & missed my chance to visit with her. In July I missed a friends wedding bcs of it.

Trying not to beat myself up over it, easier said then done.
I AM DONE WITH FEELING THIS WAY!!!

Tomorrow I start school. Two days a week I will be walking two miles. This is to get to and from the bus to and from school. The bus stops quite far away from school.

I need to keep reminding myself that it took 24 years to get this way, it's not going to take 24 days to UN-get this way. I hope everyone has an amazing day!

The trick is learning how to watch where you're going AND keep your head up.
