There are lots of non-hospital options! Many phone assessment positions, quality control, research (although you may need additional education for that), office jobs, medical records, insurance-related positions, HIPAA related positions. Keep looking and have some faith, there are lots of options, that's part of the reason I chose nursing.

I am so sorry to hear of all the problems you are having. Depression is a terrible illness & can cause the symptoms you have noted. First take care of yourself and the depression. do some mild walking every day, preferably outside. It should help with the weight loss, relaxation and a sense of control. Before you can do anything else you need to focus on that. Let your doctor know that you need more help. Take care. I'll send some prayers your way!

Sam,welcome...........
using the tools here at Sparkpeople will help you to reach your goals ...........
wishing you all the best with your journey..........
blessings and hugs.........lita

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And
maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world
Breathe in love & compassion.. Breathe out peace & forgiveness.

hi everyone. i am new to this team and i never thought that i could find a team for nurses..I joined this team because i am a nurse too (not yet in the US). I am currently reviewing for the NCLEX. I just want to share my story because i want some advice. I have major depression and because of this i couldn't work as a nurse because of concentration problems and anxiety issues. I tried so many times to give a volunteer work in a hospital but my illness is just too much. Is there a facility in the US where i can work but not in a hospital setting? Like in research or where i could work with paper works only? Actually, I'm feeling that my review for the nclex is pretty useless since i don't want to work in the hospital setting. What do you think?

I'm also thinking of taking units in education in the future. I love teaching kids. If this profession (nursing) wont work, i need to think of something that i can do. However, i took education units before, but a panic attack hit me and caused me to drop the subjects. I'm too scared to try again. You know what, I'm worried for myself. I'm 26 y.o. and i never had jobs before. I know that sounds weird but its true. I hate my illness. I cant concentrate and the anxiety is killing me. I have medications for that though, and im seeing a pdoc.My parents are getting old and im an only child. It just pressures me out you know?

My another concern, I'm pretty worried because the review is making me fat. LOL. I know this sounds weird but yes it is. I feel guilty for sleeping way too much. I want to balance everything out but its so hard reviewing and at the same time going to the gym. How about you? How do you balance work/study/review with healthy living?
