Looking Forward

Remember the past, it holds a lifetime of memories. Remember the loved ones you crossed paths with along the way. Remember the joy, the glory and even the sad and lonely moments you had. Never forget what brought you to this point.

Remember waking up and the sun is shining, remember saying I love you and meaning it. Remember cuddling with your children and or pets. Remember the wonder of looking into their eyes. Remember the sadness you felt at their loss, remember everything that you can for as long as you can.

Remember but never turn back, for the past is gone and nothing will bring it again. Now Ė start Looking Forward.

Hugs
Joanna

Country Side Calling

As the snow falls, I sit and wonder. All the white glistening under the sun looks like glass but not a fragile delicate glass, I see a glass of danger that will shatter under the first movement upon it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; the beholder is I and I am not seeing anything that resembles beauty. I am seeing danger beyond mention here. I am seeing no way out. I am seeing being strangled by the white snow.

My lines are down, no one to call for help, screaming will not be heard, so I sit here in the window watching the snow keep falling hating it. Why did I choose this isolated spot to call my home, why did I move away from life as I once knew it?

Did I prepare for this snow, did I make sure I would be safe, is there wood ready for the fireplace to keep me warm, is there food in the freezer which now is not working because my lines are down. So many thoughts go through my head as I sit here watching the snow fall.

You, you made me come here, you made my life what it is, you, the countryside called out to me. Leave everything behind and come to me I heard. Make me your home, give me your life. I slip on the leggings and snow boots, wrap my body in my coat and open the door. I am ready, I am able, and I am going, but where am I going? How will I get there and more importantly how will I get back?

My footprints are the first impression in the fresh newfound snow, off in the angle of the barn I tread, picking my legs up higher than I am comfortable in doing. I manage to get where I need to be, to see to the livestock that will someway see to me. With gas in my hand, I head back to house able to power what was lost. No phone, no tv, no computer, no point, just the necessities that will keep me alive day after day as I sit and watch the snow fall.

My mind is dark thinking the worst how am I going to survive this depression I am in, but hey look out there in the snow itís beginning to melt. I smile to myself, and excitement sets in. I look forward to tomorrow when the world will begin. Each day brings more happiness and cheer as the snow gets less and slowly disappears. So does my sadness and my fears. Spring is on the way, but not here quite yet, the snow lingers still but no longer do I care.

I am in the countryside, I hear the water from the river, I hear the birds as they sing, I hear life come alive as the snow melts. The deer are roaming, the wild turkeys have stirred, my horses are neighing calling my name. Come play with us, ride with us, join us as we roam this beautiful countryside.

Tomorrow Is Dark

Today is sunny, the snow is white, my mind is full of questions seeking answers that I can not find. What will it bring when I awaken in the morning, will the sun still be shinning, will life be the same? Will I be faced with wonder that I cannot explain?

I look through open eyes that sometimes I wish were shut, I hear with ears that sometimes I wish were deaf. I want to envision a world of peace, but my thoughts are telling me it will be a world of defeat. A world like nothing I have ever known, a world with a life and a mind of its own.

I have faced fear and terror once in a while but having to face it now and forever is something I canít explore. The turmoil that spins in my head as I sleep is nothing compared to what will be happening live at my feet.

It is not I that I worry about these days, itís my loved ones around me that canít see whatís happening right in their face. Freedom is a privilege that we should all share and enjoy but having it snatched without reason or glory is what is happing and will be the end of the story.

Should I fight for what I think is right, should I give in and face the evil in sight. Am I wrong or am I right to think the way I do, nothing could be worse than feeling the doom. Itís coming for sure, nothing can stop it now but a bullet to the head and to be buried under the ground.

I have lived a lifetime on hopes and dreams, yet TOMORROW IS DARK.

Let your thought be shared with others. If you have a poem and would like to share do it here. I am so looking forward to reading some good poetry.
