I'm sorry nutritionist are so expensive. I won't go on a diet. By working with the nutrition trackers here and modifying my eating habits I have started losing weight and got my A1C down to 6 where it needs to be. So I'm going to continue to modify my eating habits the way this site guides me to do and stick with that. I think dieting is a bad idea. You go on you come off.

I will see about my DNA tests later in the meantime I found 2 sites for diet and recipes. The first one is diet bites.com which has many diet plans based on the U.S. food guide pyramid. They have 3 days, 7 days and one 30 day diet. It is called diet bites.com. To get the 30 day diet you have to go to 1400 calorie diets, it is 1500 calories a day and at the top of the page. A recipe site I come across is Supercook.com that you can put in what ingredients you have and what category to find a recipe from many different sites. It forwards you to the correct site when you click on the recipe you want.

My Dr. will not send me to a Dr. on nutrition. On my own it costs $250.00 for 4 visits. I will get 230 DNA tests done next month instead. They cover nutrition, family medical history and what disease you are likely to get, your family tree and many other things. It is the most detailed one I could find and more accurate then seeing a Dr. who will guess on my health. I will then know exactly what my body needs regarding nutrition. They also cover if you need a Gluten free diet.

LIN1263 - It sounds like you are doing well with researching and tracking your foods' nutrients so you know how to adjust. Way to go!

I have looked at various levels to check my vitamin and mineral amounts that were off, I checked various sites on the internet to find the vitamin and mineral content of foods I needed to change. I then changed my diet as it was too high in pottasium and can be very dangerous and too high in fiber. It is not now. I still have a few other things to change, but it is getting better.

Hi,

One idea is to turn on SparkPeople's meal plans to see what the program suggests to you. Many members regularly follow the meal plans, others use them as good guidance while making some changes to them. If you have not taken a look at this feature, I suggest watching this brief video about using the Nutrition Tracker, which covers the meal plans:

For some healthy eating ideas, check out the article linked below. The article itself is good; but, be sure you check out the other articles that are linked under the "Related Content" heading on the right side. You should find some specific food ideas there.

I hope this helps!

I noticed immediately that I went over on fats on my first two days. Now I know that I can change my creamer for a non dairy. And maybe cut out all the cheese. And cut down on my avocado consumption but then where do I get the other nutrients that I do need? Is there a place that can tell me what will give me what I need without giving me stuff I don't need?
