I finished my walk. Itís crisp and quiet out. (Everyone is still in a vegetative state from over-indulgences) I really am enjoying my walks. I still have a hard time getting started. I still dislike the IDEA of walking. Itís been over three months now. I have to argue with my mind about all the excuses not to walk. My track record is what gets me out the door. Who wants to ruin a three month streak! I look forward to the time when I will look forward to the walk. For now Iím happy I ENJOY the walk! emoticon

Rainstorm yesterday kept me in. I will be on the road again today. Funny how changes freeze me. Gotta meditate on that.

3/4 mile 18 min = 24 min mile. Still walking. Not a habit yet but one day closer!

I am prepared for anything. I have a hat that would keep me warm in Siberia, mittens that are double lined, a scarf to keep the wind out. I have a heavy coat, light coat, and one in between. (I forgot boots! Gotta get some of those)

But after all this prep, what now? RAINSTORM! Rainstorm? Iím not walking in that. I guess part of the prep is deciding how to walk indoors. Mall walking? Step aerobics? Gotta figure something out!

Yesterday, my daughter walked with me. Today is my day off. I used today as an excuse for yesterday. Scales are up. Not good. REALLY, NOT GOOD.

Today was a good day! Actually, itís been a good week! I didnít feel motivated all week. Itís been the hardest week since I began walking over two months ago. I didnít miss a day. I didnít shorten my walk. 3/4 mile x 5 days! VICTORY DANCE! Woo Hoo to me!

Yesterday I walked with my daughter. She HATES walking. She feels that because it is the slowest mode of transportation available then it is a total waste of time! Too funny!

Well, today was a pleasant walk. Full of musings. FULL, of musings. Therefore, my walk went quickly. I have a few four-legged friends that greet me along the way. We share pleasantries. I cannot yet say the walks have become a habit. But, for the most part, they are pleasant. I went before school kids were on their way meaning I was out earlier today. Seeing the sunrise is inspiring me to get out earlier.

I walked yesterday. . .in another state! I did fine.

Today not so good. I pushed myself to get started.I usually enjoy myself after I get started. NOT so today. I pushed myself for every step. I pushed myself to the halfway point just to force myself to walk back!

One thought kept me motivated. You will be so pleased if you tackle this. ....1% improvement. ... MAY. ... BUT, the youíll be pleased kept one for falling in front of the other. Mission ACCOMPLISHED 3/4 mile! And I was right and I am so very pleased!

Ok so NOT walking today. Itís my first full week at 3/4 mile. I need to take this day to get ready for my meeting tonight. Therefore, I will walk on Saturday. I think this will be the plan for the rest of the month.

Walked 3/4 mile! Cut my time by 30 seconds. My WOO HOO! Had company today. I believe that was what kept me on track. Itís a win! At 1/2 mile I never broke a sweat. This 3/4 mile, I do each time! Itís a good place for me. I will work on this for awhile.

The school band played for me while I walked. Added to the enjoyment. I love to listen to those kids practice.

I went walking today. .75 mile again. I was not as sore today after my walk and I kept mindful of my speed.(I tend to slide into a stroll...maybe a crawl, toward the end) I planned on taking tomorrow off again, then I went to the store! Yup, definitely taking tomorrow off! Oh, wait, tomorrow is Sunday! My regular day off. Iím good! Lol

I felt so good after my walk. I have been walking just over a month and a half now. I am so proud of that. It does not yet feel like a habit but tiny steps turn into habits. I love my month and a half progress. I figure it will be May before I can claim a habit. It takes anywhere from 18 to 254 days to make a habit. 254 days is up in May. Only 6 months to go!

Yesterday, I walked without my walking poles. My knees hurt all day. I do not know if the two are related but tomorrow, I get my poles back. (Cars in the shop and poles are in the car) I skipped todayís walk. I get to go home tomorrow. All things considered, Iím in holding pattern again. One day, one hundred days, it doesnít matter. Holding pattern is a VERY BAD place to be.

Wow, 5K every day! Kudos! I upped my goal today from .5 mile to .75 mile. I didnít make it. Too big a jump. I walked .6 mile. Iím satisfied with that. I am learning I donít have to leap (although I WANT to!) All the small steps add up. I too have 5K as my goal. Just not today (as you can plainly see) .... I see no one is supporting this thread. I guess I will just make small comments each day. Looking back over my own progress can be motivational in itself. Iím ok with that.

Cheers to each one taking ONE small step today!

Well, dang! I forgot to put on my pedometer this morning.

I ran as soon as it was light enough outside this morning. I only ran for 15 minutes because I've been having back pain.

My plan is to run 15 minutes first thing in the morning (X 6 days), then walk 15 minutes after every meal. every day.

I have severe back pain from arthritis when I walk and my feet cramp really badly too so for now about 20 minutes is the most I can do - and that hurts a lot! Hoping as I lose weight and gain core strength walking will become easier. Also biking every day.

Can you try increasing the time you move in the hour, and 30seconds on each day? 5 minutes walking every hour should get you to your 5000 x

I used to be a dog walker and loved walking miles in the countryside, now I'm slowly recovering from feet and hip issues, if I walk for too long I struggle to walk the next day...but getting stronger. I can't wait until it's not something I have to plan, very grateful that my issues are temporary and will get better xx

I love to walk but wear braces on both legs and must use a walker. Drs. tell me no more than 2,000 steps a day and no more than 2 hrs on for the braces and to use a wheel chair the rest of the time. So not going to happen yet! And I can do more steps than 2,000 just making dinner or cleaning my small house! I honestly believe that if you don't use it you will lose it. So I try to keep myself going as long as I can.

walking, and I mean any kind of walking is such an easy way to have time to yourself to think about things. To me it is a form of meditation. I have planned so many virtual trips in my mind which in real life are out of the question.

Walking is sooooooo important that I spend time walking every day. If the weather is suitable I walk outside. There is a low, long hill in town with a good sidewalk (no places that are cracked that'd cause trip ups).
