So interesting to read what was going on two years ago... I was recovering from rotator cuff surgery and had joined Spark AND WEIGHED 50 pounds more than I do now! YAY! Oh, and I am again recovering from rotator cuff surgery.

Had to cut my workout short this morning as I got into the gym later than I wanted. My OCD will NOT permit a workout to go uncompleted (it's a bit more relaxed when it comes to getting a workout done though), so I'll return to do the last two exercises, and maybe dink around with the kettlebells or the expresso bikes for a bit before heading to happy hour.

OK, I am with you there with the browinies URGG! My daughter made them the other day, and the following day my husband made spice cake with vanilla icing with cinnimon. So, I also need to get a grip - I need help with my willpower.

Sounds like you got a great workout in though.

Doris, I hope all goes well with becoming a trainer. I've actually never known anyone personally that has became a trainer. That be pretty cool.

Well, lets see, the last time I tried posting, spark error out on my request to submit, telling me I used curse words in my post. Which I didn't. So, not sure what's up with that.

So I've been keeping up with my excerise everyday. Today I took a walk in the morning and a bike ride after lunch. I just got done with some kickboxing.

Unfortually, I was craving chocolate big time Saturday night, so I asked hubby to make brownies. That's really a big no no. As I try to limit myself to just one a day, but sitting home all day and seeing brownies on the counter. Lets just say, its more then one today. urgh At some point I will get the willpower. I mean, I have been doing good with my excerise.

Crystal

I did not start my personal training course yet, but I am getting a start on studying anatomy. OMG! there is so much involved. The human body is truly amazing. I never really thought about how the body works on a deeper level, we are a truly amazing creation. On youtube, I found a great video series on human anatomy by professor Marion Diamond. 45 hour lectures, college courses. I got through 11 so far. I don't think I will watch all of them at this point, I'm mainly interested in Histology (science of Muscle and also science of bones. Even if this does not work for me career wise, I love the learning process, and I'm sure it will help me understand how the body works to help my self. I know the skeletal system, and most of the muscles (important ones for exercise purposes) There are 639 muscles in the human body, I will never learn all them! Now I am learning where they attach to the bone, and what they do.

I will probably start my course in about 2 weeks, I hope, can't wait!

I've also been asking different personal trainers questions, and I seem to get different responses. That does get a bit frustrating.

Anyway, this is fun, exciting and challenging and will hopefully be a good investment on my part.

I hear ya, I get different suggestions from different trainers, Im just going to do what works for me and what I enjoy. I hurt my hip a few weeks back, I don't think I rested it long enough, and I did more cardio the other day. Wow, I'm in pain! Feels like my hip joint.

I'd say if you were training for a marathon and strength training, THEN you'd have to worry about losing muscle. Rounding out strength training with some spinning a couple of days a week is something different in my (totally uneducated) opinion. I did it and didn't seem to suffer any ill effects.

Worked shoulders/tris and biceps tonight.

I've taken spin classes b/4, I'm not too crazy about them. I'm a little confused, the trainer at the gym wants me to do cardio 1 hour at a heart rate of 65% so it don't effect the muscle I've gained, said not to do HIIT or elevate my HR too high, stay in fat burning zone. I like pushing myself, and elevating my heart rate as high as I can, plus I like the shorter workouts. So, I compromisised, I do 30 on elliptical at a slower pace, and TM I do intevals and run as fast as I can.

My heart Dr. told me to keep with the HIIT fo 30 min, that it would not make that much of a difference with losing muscle. Hope this isn't as clear as mud :)

No - I mean taking a spinning/indoor cycling class. You could do that sort of interval training on a spin bike for a change of pace/cross training.

Hi Stingo,

On the dreadmill, I do intervals. Fast walk on an incline for 2 min, then a full out run for 1. I will alternate this for 30 - 35 minutes then I will do hills.

I this what you mean by sprinting?

Hi Stingo, I am trying to focus on my diet, for the most part, I do OK. My weakness is the dark chocolate. I know I need to get in more cardio, the last workout I did was 60 min on the dreadmill last week and my right hip is still hurting. Don't know whats up with that, I never had a problem b/4 with my hip being that sore.

I think I got most of the bones down, the body is really amazing!

There is always some sort of catch, that was rude of the sales person to say that. I wouldn't fork up 12K either, how many people have that upfront.

Well right now it's up in the air if we are going on the cruise. Went to the meeting, as it turns it, the free cruise was to try and get people in to buy Sundance Vacations package. Which would be 25 vacations for only $99 a week. Meaning, you could go on vacation any location where Sundance Vacations have their condos/hotels and only pay $99 for that week vacation. However the catch was....to get this.. you have to pay upfront $12 grand.

Yeah right, like we have $12,000 to just hand over. If we had that, we be buying me a car. lol

Although we love traveling, exploring, taking photos. The destinations that were on their list, really isn't what we want. Sundance Vacations tend more to family vacations, cruises, beaches etc..

We want more like Grand Canyon, Yellowstone etc..

So the one sales lady at Sundance Vacations ask us..why did we even come if we're not interested in what they have to offer? We're like, well for one we were told about a free cruise, we didn't know it was a sales pitch to buy a vacation package.

So although we still got the free cruise, we have 60 days to register for it. Right now we are gonna iffy on it. We want to go, but that night at Sundance Vacations kinda turned us off. Now only that, not sure if we have the money for the taxes, government fees, passport etc..

My biggest challenge is i'm considering taking a personal training course. There is so much involved, it's scary! Hopefully by end of this Month I will start the course. At my age, I hope I have it in me. The big challenge is, if I'm going to be a (or attempt to) be a PT, I need to look the part. I have pretty good muscle tone, I need to focus on cardio now to get rid of the fat over the muscle. I'm down to my last 10 lbs, and THEY ARE THE HARDEST!

When I lost my first 30lbs, my goal was our wedding. After the wedding, I gained the weight back and now I can't seem to have a goal in mind.

We want to go to Yellowstone. Well for the both of us to really enjoy and explore Yellowstone, we both need to be in shape. Especially me, yet it doesn't seem to be a good enough goal to help me succeed. It could be because, we don't have the money saved or date saved to go.

So if we go on this cruise. I hope it can be a could enough goal to lose some weight.

Kitchen is finally done. I hope nothing else needs to be redone or re fix. We don't have any more money left.

Today was a busy day for me. I get the fit channel so I excerised 20mins to a dance routine. (I should say, I learn some dance moves). Then I worked out my abs. Then I was in the mood to go for a run...which is when I ran on the dike. (in the rain).

Felt so great after that work out.

Later today, I get a phone call from Sundance Vacations. I had enter to win a Car (drawing in Febuary), but Gary and I have a meeting friday to find out more info about a free cruise to the Bahamas. (of course we pay taxes, government fees etc..)

Never been on a cruise. Never been to the Bahamas. If we go, I gotta lose more weight to look hot.

Well today, hubby took off work, so that we can finish the kitchen floor. It was done, but what we had put down, kept leaving bubbles (even when we did our best to get the bubbles out).

So last night we spent ripping the flooring up. Now today we are putting the new sticky tile down.

We already ache from last night.

Did ok with the workout, even though I had to make some substitutions as I was pressed for time.

Now that the Phillies are in the World Series, I'm reconsidering my Saturday concert as there's no way I'm going down there when it's Halloween AND the first home game of the World Series. Gotta love being a subscriber to exchange tickets. :)

Great job Crystal. My husband does a lot of bike riding, he does century rides. He use to take it to work sometimes, from Saylorsburg to Bethlehem. I don't know how he does it. The last ride he did was a 68 mile cancer drive. I wish I enjoyed bike riding.

Hey Stingo, once in a while I go to the gym at 6:30 AM. I take my daughter to the bus stop, and head right to the gym. I'd rather go back home and go back to bed, but it does feel great to get it over with.

I did legs and abs tonight, I must of done good because my legs feel like rubber bands :)

Good Morning Everyone,

So far I went out for a bike ride. Not sure how long. I went out for the purpose to get some fog pictures. However I did more of a bike ride, then taking pictures.

Although it's chilly now, it's going to be a beautiful day.

Well as it turns out, I only succeed at about 5 mins of the kick boxing. I very quickly ran out of breath and my muscles weak. But I quickly came back upstairs and danced to some music for 10mins. Added downward dog and planks.

I believe Temple's call letters are WRTI - I listen to it usually on my way back from the symphony (that or KYW1060 news radio).

And if not actually on the radio, I'll listen to NPR's podcasts. And speaking of podcasts, lots of great music - classical and otherwise is available for free. WGBH runs a great classical 'cast for example.

This is a good idea. Maybe then, I'll get my butt on here. Bahaha.

Ok, so as of today..I am doing laundry. Fun!! It's such a beautiful day today, I want to go for a bike ride. Yet I am still sore from my hike at Ricketts Glen. My calves are killing me.

All things Considered led me to one of my favorite writers...Bailey White. I also like Car Talk, which is so strange, because I am so inept at anything mechanical lolol.

I love public radio. It's such a shame that they've lost so much funding.

My favorite on the Philly station (out of Temple--don't know the call letters--sorry) is on Saturday night. It's "El Viaje"--The Voyage--with David Ortiz. It is all music from Central and South America and the Caribbean. It's the best and gets me moving around.

I also like when they have the Opera on Saturday afternoons on WVIA radio.

"For Yesterday is but a Dream,
And To-morrow is only a Vision;
But To-day well lived
Makes every Yesterday a Dream of Happiness,
And every To-morrow a Vision of Hope.
Look well therefore to this Day! "
--From Kalidasa's "Salutation of the Dawn"

Our station does jazz Friday evenings and night which I really like :) When I was running errands earlier the Boston Symphony was featured.

As does WVIA - NEPA's public radio station. It's about all I listen to radio-wise.

WSKG out of Binghamton has a nice selection of classical music each day (part of NPR).

Hi Stingo

I have never been to a classical concert. The most recent concerts I've been to was Alice Cooper, Pat Benatar, Heart, and Journey. Quite different than classical, huh :) I do appreciate most kinds of music.

I'll look into it, but I think I'll be away that weekend to hear Mahler's 7th in Philadelphia. That said, perhaps you could try a classical concert? The NEPA Philharmonic is a pretty good band as I recall.

It's worth checking out, It's mostly the 1st part, the Christmas concert that is really awsome. I believe they are playing Nov. 20 at Wachovia. I've seen it so many times that I have it memorized. There are 3 female singers that are also amazing. The beethoven part is after the Christmas show, then they will probably feature some on their new songs from the CD Night Castle.

I've heard of them and heard their recordings but I've never seen them live (though they come to the area every year). While one part of me does enjoy what they do, there's another part that thinks that Beethoven is quite exciting as is, without the electronics.

Wow Stingo, that's quite a line up. have you ever seen TSO (Trans Siberian Orchestra) I seen their Christmas concert 4 or 5 times, and they do a rock beethoven set that is unbelievable. Laser beams, strobe lights the works. If you never seen them, google them they have some of their videos on their web site. Let me know what you thing. But, seeing them live is quite a different experience.

Another concert this weekend - a bit more classical this time:

BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 4
MOZART Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra
SCHUMANN Symphony No. 1
Philadelphia Orchestra
Daniel Hatsukawa, bassoon
Roger Norrington, conductor

Add in dinner at a Middle Eastern restaurant, and some beers with my cousin after the concert it should be quite the evening.

It was one of those weekends that did wonders for the soul, but for which the body has to pay. Went to the concert Sat night, then dropped by an O'fest on the way home on Sunday. Monday went to a pizza place with an excellent beer selection, so Tuesday, I gotta get back on the wagon, once I catch up with it that is.

OK, I'm so jealous STINGO, then I saw that Doris gets to paint a shed, well, I guess I could have to do labor this weekend, so my weekend isnt' that bad... *JUST KIDDING WITH YA DORIS* I've got a lot of running this weekend, we have a wedding tommorrow and my mom is watching the kids, then we come home, Sunday is church, then we take the kids to MIL and they have a sleep over Sunday - Monday :) Hubby & Kids have long weekend so, Monday we drive back to MIL house to pick them up, visit Grandmom In Law, and then home to get ready for the week ahead.... maybe I should just join ya Doris with the painting, seems like it would be much more fun!!!!!

Wow Stingo, sounds like a fun weekend planned. For me, it's just soccer practice Saturday with my daughter, and go to the gym and Sunday is Church and painting my Mother in laws shed - OH JOY! Hopefully that will count as some sort of exercise.

TGIF, so it's happy hour for me :) Checking out a new place with my beer geek friends so it should be a fun time. Then down to Philadelphia tomorrow to dine at McCormick and Schmick's (sp?) and the first Philly Orchestra concert of the season. Since I've got Columbus Day off I might stay later on Sunday and cook with my cousin or we may go to a brewpub. So a fun weekend in the offing. :)

G'day mates! I've been low key since I returned to finish my final semester of my bachelor's degree in nursing. Both classes I'm taking are demanding and time consuming. I'll try to keep up on it all though!

Seeing as it's been quiet around the forum of late, I thought I'd put up another challenge. This one is simply to post something on the forums every day. If all team members did this, our boards would be hopping for sure.
