I'll be walking the CROP Walk on May 7 with my daughter and her boyfriend. This is a WALK to end hunger. The Church World Service uses the proceeds to feed people in refugee camps, help farmers grow crops more productively, bring fresh water to places that don't have access, and much more. 25% of what we raise stays in Thurston County. If you want an upbeat experience, come join us and many, many more on the steps of the Capitol Building at noon May 7.

For the next 4 weeks I have two to three 10k Group Walks scheduled a week which includes a Sat. walk on the 20th at Joint Base Lewis McCord (part of Armed Forces Day celebration). Walk, walk, walk -- it's key to fitness & health -- whatever your pace & distance. Enjoy the awesome weather!

The Run4Inclusion is next Sunday at the Hands On Museum. It's sponsored by Ainsley's Angels, an organization that encourages people who use wheelchairs to come out and race. My daughter Heather is one of those athletes.

For this race, I'll be helping out on the sidelines. I have a long hike planned for Saturday, and just don't think another 3+ miles are in order.

You are getting your steps in and being social as well. Good work! I like the way you are mixing up your walks so you see new country.

I joined both a local group & a Walking Club two weeks ago.

Both last week & this week I walked two (2) 10k's. I plan on continuing to walk at least two 10k's a week. I've already signed up for two next week, THREE the following week, and two the week after.

I also hope to get down to Chehalis (where I grew up) to do two Club 10k's and one 10K in Centralia before the season/weather changes. I enjoy walking VERY much. :)

My daughter, her boyfriend, and I walked the Turkey Trot in the Capitol area this morning. At the end of the race, all finishers got a "medal". It's about an inch long and half inch wide. We got a sliver of pumpkin pie, too. Anyway, my daughter couldn't believe how tiny the "Medal " was and thought we were going to get a whole pie, not a tiny piece. She took a picture of the medal with her phone. It looks a lot bigger in the picture than for real.

Hi MAESTRACH,

I'd come to Centralia for a walk sometime. It would be variety for me.

My daughter PURPLESWIMMER and I are going to walk a 5K on August 22. It's "Run Like a Dog". We went last year. I love this one because EVERY BODY that finishes gets a medal. (You can see mine in my Gallery on my SparkPage.)

Today I signed the two of us up for our first 10K. It's "Turn Back the Clock" on November 1.

I'd absolutely LOVE to have several of us on the Olympia Team wear the same style of T-shirt and walk together in one of these local races. That would be AWESOME.

Patti-

I love power walking 5ks, but don't have anyone to do them with. If you hear of another one in our area, let's do it together. Centralia has a Thursday Night walk/run club that starts at O'Blarney's pub. Go 5 times and you qualify for a t-shirt. I'd love to see our team do that...I know there's at least 3 of us down in this area. I'm not brave enough to do it on my own yet.

Did anyone go out for the Donut Dash? I signed up but my Beginning Weavers Class conflicted. Went and got my T-shirt; didn't walk.

I've been making up for it this week by walking to the Lacey Senior Center and back from my house twice (4 miles round trip).
