My husband mocked me and criticized me when I decided I needed to lose 35 lbs. he never supported me or complimented me. I did it on my own. Fortunately for the most part I controlled the meals and the family was ok with eating healthier or fixing their own if they didn’t like my choices. After a year and 35 lbs lighter. He finally caught on and started to join in my way of eating. Even tho he complained about me not being attractive anymore. We grew apart and got divorced after 25 years of marriage. We are still “friends” and he is still eating healthy as am I. But I agree it does take a tol on a relationship, especially if your both already going separate ways. Report

Not to mention the extra time and stress associated with meal planning/prep and exercise Report
Thankfully my partner is very supportive and has loved me at every weight. My mother on the other hand will go out of her way to sabotage my efforts. Report

Just ignore them like you would any other person in your life exhibiting these behaviors. They are grown adults and can make their own choices - if they make the wrong choices, they will bear the consequences Report
